Posted .Hi gg69,
Thank you for your review. We are so sorry if our SA-CS9 didn't live up to your expectations. This is definitely not the experience we wanted you to have. We truly appreciate your input the installation/connection and bass sound of this subwoofer. We are not sure what brand/model of AV receiver/Amplifier you have this subwoofer connected to. However, to ensure that hook up the system properly, please refer to the following link:
Hooking Up the System - https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4533/45336601M.pdf
And for the bass sound, depending on the audio source, the bass sound of our SA-CS9 may not be so noticeable. Some of these issues can be fixed by adjusting the LEVEL control (clockwise) to turn the volume up of the subwoofer so that you can hear the bass sound a little more than before. You may also find different sources will perform better than others due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

Posted .Hi BRose, thank you for your review. We are really sorry you are encountering an issue with the bass sound of our SA-CS9 115W 10” Active Subwoofer. This is usually not the case and the experience we wanted you to have on our product. We’re not sure which brand of amplifier/AV receiver you have your subwoofer connected to. However, please ensure the connections have been correctly made. You need to turn the LEVEL clockwise to turn the volume up of the subwoofer. You may also find different sources will perform better than others due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

Great budget-friendly sub
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great budget-friendly subwoofer. My local Best Buy only had the Polk PSW 108 and Klipsch available to sample, so I couldn’t sample this ahead of purchasing. I liked the Polk, but was unimpressed by the 10” Klipsch comparatively. I ultimately decided to order this Sony, instead, simply because the frequency response was rated lower and it had slightly more wattage than the Polk. It also matches my Sony SS F6000 floor speakers perfectly. I did expect a bit deeper bass with its rated frequency response, but it is plenty adequate and a remarkable improvement over the Boston Acoustics that my receiver came with, which was only rated at 50-170hz and cut out frequently. The Polk PSW 108 at Best Buy did seem to sound better refined than this, but it’s still adequate. Sound quality is actually quite impressive with TV/movies; it’s music (rock, at least) where I think it’s lacking a bit. I found setting the crossover from my receiver at 80hz produced the best overall, and most balanced sound. Anything higher got to be too muddy. Keep this in mind when pairing this to your speakers. I do appreciate being able to turn off the auto-power feature. This prevents the sub from shutting down when there is a period of little-to-no bass sent to it.

Great replacement to old Subwoofer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 15 year old Klipsch finally gave up and I was in the market for a replacement. This Sony had the right power, cost, and size for me. With 2 young kids, I did not want to shell out $500+ for a new subwoofer they may climb on. This one sounds great and looks to be well protected from "outside influences."

Great value for smaller room setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently added a Yamaha YAS-108 sound bar to my system and had been mating it to a BIC F12 sub. My room is hardwood and rugs, 15 x 20. The F12 had awesome house-rattling power, but at lower levels I didn't like the tone of the subtle bass sounds. I just felt like I was using too much sub , and since the wife never liked that thing anyways, I sold it and got the Sony SACS9. It has just the right power and really produces a great range of base for diferent sounds. Very pleasant and I can hear /feel it working a low sound levels. Even the wife is onboard finally. On sale for $99.00 is a no brainer for smaller rooms - or buy 2 for a balanced larger room!

Great thundering BASS!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this subwoofer on a whim after seeing it in my local store. Brought it home and was blown away by the bass this sub puts out. It has clear, punchy, thundering bass. Sounds great with all types of sound, weather it be music, movies, or games it's consistent on all forms. Only thing I don't like about it is the price, it's a little steep for your average stereo user. But when you plug it in, and turn it up, you'll forget all about the price. I'm a slight audiophile, I have to have good bass with everything I listen to, and this delivers! I can hear the bass outside of my house when playing music, absolutely awesome. I also noticed there aren't many reviews on this sub since it's one of Sony's newer products, but if you're looking for great bass while being easy to use, I recommend this for sure you won't be disappointed.

Good Value for the Money - Just buy it NOW!
Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought all new Sony speakers for my new systems including this sub to replace a older home theatre system I had. The bass from this sub compared to my older 8" sub was bigger but much more punchy and solid as well. This sub alone has made listening to movies and music better as I have more precise hits and less of the boomy / distorted sound when pushed hard like my old one. I have a older model Sony powersub I use in a game room and this one is a upgrade from that even. For the money, this is a great value and I plan on getting a second one to compliment the system. The only gripe might have is I feel like the audio cable supplied for connecting to receiver could have been a foot or two longer as not everyone wants to place their sub 4 -5 ft from their receiver. Lastly, some reviewers noted they had to fiddle around with the settings to make it sound good. I'm not a audio expert but out of the box the volume is dialed to the lowest and I put mine at 75% mark and it is the sweet spot for me. I tweaked my subwoofer settings inside the receiver itself and this is something you may have to play around with to see what works best for you. This is a great sub you really can't pass up for the quality vs price you get.

Good Balanced Punchy Bass
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just upgraded to the sony sacs9 from polk psw10. I really consider it an upgrade, firstly because the polk is rated at 50W RMS and this is at 115W RMS, so its more than double the power. Power is not the only thing that makes a good speaker, this has got nice tight punchy bass and not boomy at all. The polk used to get too boomy once i raise the volume to a certain level. Go get this one and you wonr regret. i got it at 99.99$ when it was on sale
