For non-audiophiles wanting to fill in that .1 in their living room, I really don't see why you'd spend more. Most of us wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this sub and one that costs $500+.

But where it lacks in the beats, it makes up for in the punch. This sub hits every boom in an action sequence. I am very pleased to have purchased this for my home audio set up.

Decent with one major flaw

As others have mentioned, the Auto setting is too sensitive, only allowing 3 minutes of no bass input before shutting down and no way to adjust. Ridiculous. Unfortunately, it comes with an annoying clicking sound each time it comes on or shuts down. I mean, how completely CARELESS of them. How the heck do you design something like that? I may return it as it really makes the device annoying

Thank you for the review and we're glad to hear that you like sound quality of the speaker. If you turn down the volume level of the amplifier too low, the auto power on/off function may activate, causing the subwoofer to enter power saving mode. To turn this feature off, slide the POWER SAVE switch on the rear panel to OFF.

Considering it sounded good before I adjusted anything, it can only get better as you get it integrated into your system...

It gets the lows when needed and mixes well with other brand equipment as well. Simple to set up at least with me and got it for a good price. 160. All in all I recommend to anyone looking to add bass to there home setup.

No way at least for a long while. I'm happy with my Sony for half/+ the price I get a nice pwrfull boom and dont hurt my pocket. I recommend this sub. Sony rocks too!

Sony really skimped on quality to bring you good audio at the price I will say. the controls are cheap and everything is really plain. even the emblem is just painted on. I didn't mind any of that because it sounded great and has a small foot print but the main issue with this particular speaker is the auto feature. it's constantly turning off during short dialogue then takes a good kick to turn back on. will be returning ASAP for the klipsch.

Under powered

The shortcomings in this system are not due to its design but it's lack of power to suit my space. This unit is paired to an Onkyo tx-nr656 and was auto calibrated. My living room is 16'x22', laminate floor with a large sectional couch and a huge 10'x7' opening adjacent to it that goes to the kitchen. On full power even in low volume situations if you turn off the subwoofer you are aware of it's lack of presents. During movies and music it performs well, sounds great but in my living room it lacks the power to supply bass as it was designed. I just need something bigger.
