It replaces its twin, which I had for several years. I suspect the old one took a power surge. I did have it protected with a power surge protection strip, but maybe it wasn't enough. I like this because the old one did the job, and there was not fussing around with learning how to hook it up. It's perfect for my living room and my 5-speaker surround sound system.

Our old sub had gone out on us a while ago and we had adjusted to the audio without it. Since hooking up to the amplifier the audio is leaps and bounds better. We had forgotten what it sounded like to have bass with a movie. Overall this was a great purchase on my parents part and my wife and I are very happy to this point.

You’ll need the Low’s when You reproduce music as in Symphonic music, Jazz, Rock or Soul; don’t forget that movie sound reproduction is essential in modern culture and when the sound drops (Deep Lows) in a movie so will Your audience!

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 2 subs for a living room home theater (12 x 17') but found them a bit lacking for movies or music.I then moved one into a smaller room (11x12') and these sounded just fine.Using this with an Emotiva Ta-100 and 2 Bi+ speakers or with 2 Sony SS-CS5.Also suggest placing on a 1/2" wood platform if on a carpet.

Works well for decent system in mid-sized room.

This one gets the job done and I’m perfectly satisfied. My preference is for a mid range system. I’m not an audiophile, so if you’re an average user, you’ll probably like it.
