It replaced another brand and it was money well spent. It provides a great distortion-free bottom to my recorded and streamed music as well as movies, television and other streamed content.

BUT...it's heavy, however, all of them are. The controls for volume and frequency rotate too easily. It's too easy to change their settings by accident. Everything on the back should be labeled in a contrasting color like white. I have to use a flashlight to read the printing.

I like the fact that I can leave it plugged in and turned on it has a standby feature that shuts down the amp until it sees power to the speakers from the amp.My old Infinity sub amp blew up because it didn't have this feature.

Lackluster For watts and price

But the power saver option doesn’t work as indicated. It’s suppose to shut off when not in use- but most of the time it shuts off and on during use. The power delivery is weak and the low range is not there. Bass gives strength and warmth to ur music but this ain’t doing it. It replaced and old Sony bass box which was half the size and less watts but sounded way better. Unfortunately I had to get a new receiver and the old bass wasn’t powered. Look elsewhere

We are really sorry if our SA-CS9 115W 10” Active Subwoofer didn't live up to your expectations and that it had to be returned. This is certainly not the news we'd like to hear from you.
Regarding the auto power-off function, if there is no signal input for a few minutes, the POWER indicator lights up in red and the subwoofer enters power-saving mode. This feature can be turned off by sliding the POWER SAVE switch on the rear panel to OFF. And depending on the audio source, the bass sound of our SA-CS9 may not be so noticeable. This can be fixed by adjusting the LEVEL control (clockwise) to turn the volume up of the subwoofer.
Your feedback matters to us as it helps us improve our products. We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we hope that you'll consider Sony again in your future purchase.

No distortion for my application, creates very deep and sustainable sound. Very happy and setup impress my visitors

This Sony sounds almost as good. But I expected that, as the Polk was a higher end sub. I’m using it for a 5.1 surround system just for watching movies.
