Changing from the polk 8 in sub which had to be push to its limits, this easily and convincingly is an improvement for budget subs. Yes the cabinet is nothing to write home about as far as design nor even has any feet (just rubber stickies) but the rumble is undeniable.

We don't have a media room so this was perfect for our living room. Not too thunderous but puts the sound out when needed.

Great beginner Subwoofer

The only downside is that it doesn't turn off when the rest of my devices do (non-CEC compatible) and it doesn't have a remote (do any subwoofers have remotes?). Eitherway, for the price, definitely a great subwoofer.

Auto-On/Off Poor Design

In auto-off mode, if you are watching a movie with a quiet part for too long, it will switch off, which causes an annoying on/off click. Then, when the movie calls for bass, it takes a second or two to auto-on and start pumping out the bass. There should be a way to adjust the time length of no signal or some other way to keep it on while it is possible that it will be sent a bass signal. When it is on and working, for the price it sounds very good.

If there is no signal input for a few minutes, the POWER indicator lights up in red and the subwoofer enters power-saving mode. Fantastic Base Sound

When I hear the base sound in a movie theater, I wish to duplicate the same sound at my house. This Sub Woofer comes Very Close.

Helps make loud noises hurt more

I use this in a 5.1 setup to watch/stream TV and movies and it does a pretty good job for my little basement setup.

Bang for Your Buck

I'm still planning on repairing it down the road (might cost me an arm and a leg) but I needed an immediate replacement and the Sony Core Series caught my eye. It's a good subwoofer at a great price point and when it went on sale for 50% off I immediately one + a pair of Core Series Dual 5" 3-Way Floorstanding Speakers. It works perfectly with my Denon AVR-S540BT Receiver, specially after calibrating. Great Bang for your Buck!
