Great subwoofer for the price. If you are looking for a sub $300 sub, then this is a great option. Fills the room (20x26 sq) with bass and decent volume without distortion.

Got this as a Christmas present. It comes with a cheap rca universal cord, so you don't need to buy one. The clerk at Best Buy told me you had to have one, but she was wrong. Lucky they take returns. I plugged it in to the stereo and power supply, adjusted the volume and blamo - works perfectly. The sound is really deep and strong, so you may have to play with the volume. I initially had it up too high and had to turn it down. It is perfect. Awesome bass.

Compact yet plenty of power, ideal for a small to midsize theater room. The unit can sense when your receiver is on by the input line and thus turns itself on provided its in the standby mode. Therefore no need for a separate subwoofer remote like some units have. Looks good and doesn't take up too much space. Highly recommend this subwoofer.

Just during Happy Hour this evening, I commented on how this subwoofer changed our living room - we now have cocktail hour there as this sub delivers perfect sound...and brings life to the party (and it's only 1/2 up regarding the base it could deliver). Bought for $120 - would not hesitate to buy again!

This subwoofer has a deep, rich, booming bass. I am stunned by the sound resolution of this relatively small subwoofer. Years ago, I owned a larger other name brand subwoofer, but this one is far better. This one provides movie theater sound. I am very pleased with this Sony product.

Perfect size, easy to hook up, high quality. Produce enough boom to rock the living room.

Deep, rich bass. Makes the sound jump off the screen. I actually use onlyba fraction of its power cause it shakes the house.

I bought these as the front end of my all Sony 5.1 Surround Sound system for my mancave, loving them so far. I still have some tweaking to do to get them exactly how I want them, but absolutely no complaints, they sound and look great!!! And the price was definitely nice. Again, I'm not an audiophile and I have some work to do in that area, but I definitely like what I hear.

After being terribly disappointed by the performance of a 6.5 inch “sub”, I found myself in the market for a new subwoofer. Based on weeks of research, I decided to purchase this Sony over the comparable Polk. I won’t exagerate and tell you it’s going to blow your eardrums, but it sure is pleasant to hear. This is more than enough bass for an appartment. Remember, placement is key!

This sub-woofer is an incredible performer for its price point. (I purchased mine for $99 on sale.) I would argue that a better performing sub is not available for less than ten times the price of this one. I am using this sub with my old receiver and two of the Sony 3-way floor speakers from the same series. My receiver does not have a sub out, but this unit has speaker-level inputs, which also handle the impedance-matching, and which have been working fine. It took a bit of trial and error to dial in the low-pass frequency for this unit, as the adjustment potentiometer does not have frequency markings, and the speaker-level interface does NOT seem to act as a high-pass filter for the speaker-level signal that is passed on to the main speaker cabinets. All of that said, I am quite happy with the balance that I obtained after about 30 minutes of adjusting and listening. I should add that I listen to a wide variety of music, and fully recognize that only one of this sub might not be adequate to faithfully reproduce the low frequency portion of much popular music. That said, one could easily connect two (or even four!) of these to extend the low frequency response of a larger system and still spend considerably less than what a single unit to match such performance would cost.

A good subwoofer is essential for any sound system if one wants to feel the music or the action. This is a good budget subwoofer.

This sub sounds great in our living room!! It makes movie night exciting when the surrounding sounds come out!!! We feel like we are in the movie theater.

Great bass comes from this subwoofer. I have it connected to my Sony 5.2 receiver along with two Sony Core bookshelf speakers for a very strong and clear sounding 2.1 system. A bit pricy, though but I want my system to match so I bought it when it was on sale. I think about $150 is a good price so keep an eye for price drops. Cool thing about speakers is that you don't have to replace them every five years or so.

I think this is a great subwoofer for the price (when on sale) and so far I'm very pleased. I'm using this in a 16' X 24' basement theatre room and it has plenty of power. Very good low level response and volume for music and movies. I read a number of reviews before buying and saw some people complained about the power saving "auto-on" feature not working well, but I've not had any issues. Mine had an August 2021 build date on the box and it always "wakes-up" up reliably and quickly for me (within a second or two). I do run my AV receiver sub channel a bit "hot" (increase subwoofer channel output gain to +8 dB or so and turn down subwoofer's volume accordingly). I learned this trick from my older Yamaha sub that was sometimes reluctant to wake-up from sleep mode and that resolved it. This adjustment helps by sending a stronger continuous bass signal to the subwoofer, which zaps it awake quicker and keeps it awake during quite passages in the soundtrack.

So, I bought this sub and hooked it up with the Sony Receiver and Sony Bookshelf speakers I also bought. I put this sub in line between my speakers and the receiver. I turn it on and off manually instead of using the auto function, because sometimes I don't want the Bass. I originally had this Sub under my L desk, facing the corner, I had to move it away from the corner some and put some padding between the wall and the sub to absorb and direct the Base... to better focus the bass where I sit, as there are definite spots where you can feel more or less bass as I walk around the room, The Bass is just Tremendous! Like, I really wasn't expecting it to pair so well with the rest of the system and sound so great. When the alien space ship explodes on the screen in the sci fi movie I'm watching, it's, just, amazing. amazing. I'm definitely pleased. Easy setup. Works great. Exactly what I needed to finish 7.1 system. I appreciate the standby mode which monitors the dolby sound for subwoofer signals and turns on the speaker as needed.

I enjoy this subwoofer. I've had a Sony 5.1 system for years now and I recently upgraded to a 7.2 and this speaker brings good quality bass to even out my entertainment sound. Easy to use and install. It comes with its own cord, but I feel it could be longer. It has adjustable output levels, easy to balance the sound.

For years I believed that I had no use for a subwoofer, until I came across some articles that explained how it significantly enhanced classical music. So I purchased this Sony subwoofer when it was on sale, to try it out. It turned out to be true - and brought out things I had not heard before in the music! It made the listening experience more pleasurable, and I am glad I made the purchase.

I use this subwoofer on a 2 channel stereo with a pair of vintage Dalquist speakers which are amazing with a very open 3-D sound but are a bit weak on bass for current standards. Besides the typical home theater connections this sub also can be hooked up to regular speaker terminals so I run the Dalquists on bank A and the sub on Bank B. Works perfectly that way. The sub has its own volume and crossover adjustments, so you can set it the way you like it and dial it a down a bit for music. If you use the sub on low volumes it won't turn on until you turn up the sound, then you can bring it down to the volume you want and the sub stays on. Not a problem but the first time this occurred I thought there may be something wrong, so mentioning this in case someone thinks it stopped working!
