This is a stellar sounding sub for the money. This is not a 1 star sub, this is a 5 star sub. From reading other reviews, either the people didn't have the correct system installed or didn't know how to balance their system with this sub. After a few tweaks, this added so much depth to my current system. The power and also the levels were perfect.

Works great....like it a lot better when I was able to purchase at half price. Really don't like that Sony does not offer a pre-out for a passive sub and amp on their receiver. If you want to do anything in wall in your home you have to look at another brand; however, for a powered sub this works fine

My living room is about 200 square feet. The floor is hardwood, ceilings are 10’ and the room is pretty live. This 10” 100w+ sub has plenty of punch for my home theater setup. Build quality is nice- no rattling or distortion is noticeable. The sub really disappears until you need it. I mostly listen to music, but the excitement it adds to contemporary movies with extensive bass frequencies is palpable. I don’t try to knock down walls so this is very nice for my needs.

i was trying to buy this sub woofer used. but then best buy lower the price, so i bought it. where im usingit is a small room. but i think it will work great in a large living room. since is powerfull. works great with my old sony stereo receiver, and also my klipsche surround speakers. nothing fancy but perfect for what i need .

Bought this as a gift for a friend. Helped them set it up, and man does this sub bump. Has a really good low end, and sounds clean, just make sure you set your crossover settings correctly on the sub, and/or receiver if applicable. You gotta go with the 10" for a living room. Makes Movies, and Music sound that much better.

Great sound. Easy hook up. Has an automatic off function that is supposed to turn the woofer off if it's not being used, but instead it turns off while in use. Wether there's a song or movie pkaying.

Great surround sound setup and a very good value for the money. I bought all of the components for the Sony surround sound setup and it’s a great system for the money. Take the time to set it up correctly and you will really enjoy this system. The subwoofer adds a solid bass to the setup.

I bought this sub to add to an Onkyo A-9010. I have paired with a couple of floorstanding Klipsch speakers. Although the system is very musical, it sounded a little bit thin for my taste. After adding this Sony sub with its tight bass, I feel my system is complete. Now it sounds like a much more expensive system.

This is a great little subwoofer. Can't beat it for the price. Really fills up the room with bass. The only thing to watch out for is the auto shutdown feature. Sometimes during quieter parts of movies it will turn itself off. The instructions do mention this, and the fix is to turn the auto shutdown feature off.

Recently purchased a house with older Energy EAS-6C ceiling speakers that had somewhat decent sound. Added the Sony Core SACS9 subwoofer and wow, it really sounds like I have a premium speaker system throughout the house. Had no problem hooking it up to my Onkyo TX-NR7100 receiver. Big improvement, happy camper here.

This is a very good sub for the money. I’m glad I bought this one instead of the higher priced sub. The bass is very powerful. I use a Sony amp that pushes less than 175 watts per channel. Can’t imagine how much more this sub would sound with more watts. Very happy with purchase.

A good subwoofer. Would like to not have to turn it off and on each time the system is used. Provided wiring for connection to the receiver could have been a bit longer. Otherwise, just a good subwoofer.

Wonderful deep rich base. Connected via RCA cable and has power cord that must be plugged into a a/c outlet

Boom! Is what it does. The crisp clean sound coming from this puppy will complete your audio setup in a very satisfying. Easy connections and just the right size to tuck into the bottom of your entertainment stand. Sony has my nod with this unit. 5 Stars!

This subwoofer replaced a much smaller less power subwoofer I had and it definitely is powerful enough for a large bedroom I put it in. It will cut off at lower volumes where not much is going on and in a way, it's kind of annoying but you can tell when it kicks back on. I would say that this subwoofer can be punchy and offer good low ends but it is not a $500 and plus sub either so don't get hopes up - I've tested those and just know what you are getting. If you need something to rattle the windows and knock things off neighbors walls - keep looking. You can expect a good all around sound from this sub that is simple to use and has a nice power saver option that puts it in sleep mode when you switch everything off. My application for using this sub was with 7 Sony speakers I purchased with a Sony receiver w/7.2 abilities. This sub fits nicely with my setup but I am using it in a 19 x 14 bedroom with vaulted ceilings/carpet. It is plenty powerful enough for this application. I intend to later hook up a 2nd one of these on other side of room for more interactive bass. At end of day - it's a sub from Sony, first clue it will be good quality. Second clue, it's cheapest one they got - don't expect movie theater bass or $500 -plus sub results. There is a reason subs of higher costs are at their price points - one area is the amp's quality and it's wattage output, which as subs go, this one is on a lower end.

Works well and easy to set up. Took a little work (not too difficult though) to get base level set best for the room. Used the auto setup feature and then fine tuned from there. Only thing that we do not use is power save option because with our receiver, if it doesn't see a bass signal it would go to power save mode and would not come back on so we leave it in the On mode.

Love it, great bass. Easy to install. Not to big. Really loud.

These really push some good bass. We run 2 of these and are totally blown away with the quality of rumble we get out of them for such a low price!

Excellent replacement to the previous Sony Subwoofer I had and lots more power for great booming sound to my liking. With in on sale for $100 off at time of my purchase, it is a great deal too.
