The ones I had in my room as a kid are huge compared. Well I have to say wow, very nice. I wanted to fill the room with sound and these speakers do that 10fold.

May be the best ever "Budget Speaker" made!

After reading so many positivies reviews, I had to see what the fuss was about. I'm impressed that the tweeters do not stand out, infact they are clean and detailed without being bright. I'm also impressed that the bass is fairly clean and has a good deal of dynamic that I didn't expect out of a 5.25" driver. Somehow it throws a large soundstage behind the speakers that I also didn't expect. The cabinet movement and the port wind in the back has to be making some noise but at this price point, I can't really find too much at fault. Putting those few things aside as it cost about as much as speaker cable and RCA jacks, if you looking at $200 and below, it's the best speaker made for the money.

Unbeatable home theater value

They replaced a pair of Martin Logans and are better in every way. They sound so good that I bought another pair and I use one of those as my center (laid down on its side). A tremendous value for a home theater application provided you have a decent sub. I very rarely listen to music on this system, when I have it has never occurred to me that they are either great or not great for that. In general speakers for music should be a bit "warmer" but when those kinds of speakers are used for home theater things just sound muddy. If you are looking for home theater speakers that still sound decent for music then I HIGHLY recommend these Sony Cores.
