Customers are saying
Customers highly value the Core Series 5" 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers, particularly praising the amazing sound quality, notable bass, and clear highs. The speakers are also appreciated for their compact size, ease of use, and reasonable price. While the design is considered simple and nice, a minor drawback is their relatively heavy weight.

No Speaker Cords Included
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to the Best Buy store to listen to these speakers. Unfortunately, Best Buy had a song playing where all the speakers sounded the same. Because I have a SONY shelf system, I got the SONY speakers. Of course, there were none in the store. I ordered them to be delivered to the store to save shipping. Did not know shipping is free for over $35 and was not told this. I made a trip to the store and picked them up yesterday, opened them today, no cords. Called the store, waited like forever when someone came on the phone. Was told most people know you have to buy speaker cord separate. Hello - do I know this? NO!!!! It is very hard for me to get around. It would have been NICE if someone could have told me the cords did not come with the speakers. I have not decided if I will take the speakers back for a refund. Getting them back to the store will be hard for me. Everyone is not able bodied!

Garbage - Made For Small Sound in Small Rooms Only
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first must say that I am a true Sony fanboy. I love the Sony sound. And I love the sound from the Sony super tweeter. I am still kicking myself for selling my old Sony Xplod speakers with my old car. I also have an old Sony bookshelf system for the 90’s and those speakers are still awesome. Way better than these, but too outdated looking for the living room. I even used a Sony Network Walkman until MP3 became the standard and Atrac3 was discontinued. That’s why I tried these. These are abysmal speakers for a standard 7.1 home theater system. I have a new Onkyo Tx-Sr494, which puts out 80 Watts RMS per channel. These are supposedly rated at 100 Watts RMS. That is a lie. These handle 45 Watts RMS max. I know what a 45 Watt speaker sounds like. And I know what a 100 Watt speaker sounds like. And I know what a 1,000 system sounds like, from my car stereo experience.I played these for 15 minutes. When I got to a normal loud listening volume of 60 out of 99 one of these failed in seconds, emitting a nasty crackling sound from the right speaker. It was most likely defective, because it still sounded off at a volume of 50, too. It was immediately overly clear that these speakers are only suited for a small bedroom. I sit 15 feet from my front speakers. In a somewhat large (not huge) room. These cannot fill the space with adequate sound. And the tweeters flicker from the 60hz AC power and it is noticeable to any decent ear. The sound is small and cheap. Period. There is no bass at all. The woofers are overly excursion happy, but make no low frequency sound. I’m sure they have a low frequency response when machine tested, but not in real life. The tweeters made for an excellent high frequency sound stage with massive atmospheric effect. BUT. The high frequency is completely hissy. There are no sounds of bells and dings in Christmas songs or movies. Just a hissy version of what you should hear. I am disgusted by these speakers. And the price has nothing to do with it. It’s the sound. I returned them after maybe 45 minutes of use. I instead went with the Klipsch 51m, because I believe they will truly handle 80 Watts RMS and, supposedly, from the reviews, have big room sound. But these Sony’s are just as highly rated online. I love the look and feel of these Sony speakers and truly believe that the Klipsch’s look cheap compared to these. Meanwhile, I love BestBuy. But the guy who took my order for the Klipsch’s was clueless. When I explained that these Sony’s cannot possibly handle 100 Watts RMS. He said the RMS rating of a speaker is irrelevant and it will work perfectly no matter what wattage your amp has. And the wattage on the amp has no effect on a speaker. When I told him I know that these Sony’s can handle 40 maybe 45 Watts max he told me, “No Sir. None of that matters. Any speaker will handle any signal. RMS has nothing to do with anything. The only thing that matters is how good the speaker is. So you should never look at Watts and RMS means nothing. It’s just a nonsense stat that has no impact on anything.” I just looked at him like. Hoookay there guy. “Just give me the Klipsch’s, I know they can handle a true 80 Watt signal.” He insisted that had “nothing to do with how stereo systems work.” I’m hoping I can leave a 5 star review when I get the Klipsch’s. But you never know....

Best buy Specs wrong on Basic spec info
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasted a saturday trying to buy bookshelf speakers from Best buy. Picked up these Sony's to put on a 13 inch cube shelf. Specs say 10.5 inches tall so I thought no prob. Got them home and the speakers are 13.25 inches. Returned them and when asked if there was something wrong with the speakers I said yes the wrong size. Then proceeded to explain the possible reason Best buy has so many open box returns on this product. Possibly a good product but I'll never know. The store was out of all other bookshelf speakers so I'll be shopping elsewhere.
