The first set was a gift for my son. After being surprised by how well they sounded - this set was for me. As I mentioned in my last review for the first set - don't expect these to sound as good as speakers running hundreds or thousands of dollars a piece. For what they are and their price range though - and if you run them off a semi decent amp - they're fantastic. Don't believe me though - find out if your local store has them on display and give them a listen yourself.

Best pair of speakers you can get at this price point. Of course a pair of $500 bookshelf speakers would sound “better” compared to these speakers, but that goes without saying. I cannot recommend any speaker from the core series enough!

Perfect Apartment Speakers

I bought these speakers as an upgrade for my SONY CMT-SBT100 micro stereo system. They produce deep bass tones and crisp high notes. TV & Movies sound better, as well as Bluetooth and vinyl records. All of which I have hooked up to these speakers. Fills my apartment with quality sound, but not too much for neighbors to complain. Highly recommend for great sound in smaller spaces.

These are the same 60W bookshelf speakers Sony has made for decades. Of corse they have been revised. At a 100W rating is equal to 70W RMS. The sound quality is excellent. As good as more expensive speakers. If you can get them for a buck fifty, cannot go wrong. Thinking about getting the floor standing speakers also.

If you can get these on sale then all the better. Even at the regular price of $149 these speakers are amazing in their imaging and detail. I own high end speakers that do not have as much detail as these. Listening to 30 year old CD's I was able to pick up new detail and information not heard before even on speakers much more expensive. Get them and you will not be disappointed.
