Compact, inexpensive, and amazing sound
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own a recording studio and these speakers are amazing for the price you pay and the size. If you are in need of a small set of speakers for you home theater or stereo system, definitely check these out. The treble to bass frequencies are incredible at this price point.

Amazing value!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had these speaker for about 2 years, and liked them so much I purchased 2nd pair for another receiver. Although the price has increased from when I initially bought them, they are still an excellent value. Arguably one of the best speakers you can buy below $200. I highly recommend them!

Excellent starter speakers
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Basically here's the deal. They are nice but you need power to get the best sound. I have a Harmon kardon pushing true solid 90w rms and these pump out sound including bass. On a 30 to 50w rms newer receiver they sounded no where near as good. Those were the typical $200 to $300 receivers you see, tried all these. Onkyo sr703 onkyo sr393 Sony dh 590 dh 770 an older Harmon avr 146. None of these sounded anywhere near as good as my Harmon kardon avr630. So I'd definitely demo them before committing to them.

Good Sounding Speaker
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers were bought to replace 35+ year old Klipsch Forte II speakers connected to a 100 watt integrated amplifier. The sound is very good for lower level speakers. They can handle the wattage of my amplifier. The bass sound is pretty good for this speaker. The only downside to these speakers that my Klipsch speakers had was more of a fuller area of sound. I think that is due to the rear passive radiator that the Klipsch speakers had. Ibwould recommend these speakers to thise who want to have decent sound in an inexpensive speaker that does not take up a large footprint.

Amazing
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had many high end speakers costing many thousands of dollars each. I wanted something for my computer desk. I bought a small class ab amp and bought these Sony speakers based on some reviews but I had serious doubt. The speakers are different than a $400 set of Elac for example, but So close to a $400 set of speakers it will make you question high end audio.. It is very loud for its size.. You will not be disappointed in these.

Great sound from a small package
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use these speakers as my rear surround speakers in my home theater. They sound great mounted on my wall, and they pair well with the Core floor standing speakers. If you have a good subwoofer and limited floor space, these would also work well as front speakers. The sound is crisp and clear, with great highs and lows, at least for as low as bookshelf speakers will provide. They are hefty, so make sure if you do wall mount them you get a strong mount and properly place them. Very happy with my purchase.

Great Speakers for the Money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already had the Sony Core Series (towers for front, the center, and bookshelves for surrounds) and needed another pair for the Atmos height speakers. They work and sound great! I’ve never been a fan of Sony speakers in the past but I absolutely LOVE these speakers. Sony really stepped up their game with this speaker line. Very smooth but detailed highs, only recommendation is a subwoofer is pretty much a requirement as the weak point of these speakers are the lack of deep bass (which is expected with 5 inch woofers).

Suprised by the Quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start by letting everyone know that this was the cheapest pair of book shelves I purchased in the last four or five years. I am talking under 75 bucks out the door. It was part of a 5.1 setup using all Sony core speakers for a relative. That being said, these are a good pair to have as back surrounds (current configuration) or even as fronts if you have the a sub to fill out the bottom range. I would also consider them as good stand alone speakers for a shelf system in an office or smaller room.

Incredible Little Speakers
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased these speakers to replace some giant old JVC floor speakers (with 10" woofers). These little bookshelf speakers are INCREDIBLE! They produce a sound that is comparable to the larger floor speakers & they produce much more bass than I expected. I was so impressed with these little speakers, that I went back to Best Buy and purchased the Sony Towers as well. I hope my neighbors are enjoying the free concerts. :)

Shocked at the sound quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll be honest I didn't purchase these speakers expecting to keep them. Boy was I wrong. I don't think there is a better speaker on the market for the money. Good crisp highs partnered with sufficient mids and lows make these keepers. I wall mounted them and they are paired with my Onkyo receiver, Polk center channel and surrounds along with 2 Polk PSW505 subs. Very happy and will be getting a 2nd pair for the garage.

Excellent surround speakers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased these speakers on a great sale that Best Buy runs about 2x a year. The sound is excellent, especially for what i paid for them (50% off), even if they are rather large as rear speakers. They are also fairly heavy but feel well built and sturdy. Always been a fan of Sony , so nothing here to complain about. Great product and great value on sale.

Great speakers to add to our stereo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I listened to the Sony Core Series 5" Speakers in the store and knew they would work well for the audio system we use with our TV. Sure enough, they do add great sound to the system and are small enough to sit at the sides of the TV. Being black, they are nearly unnoticeable on the TV stand. They have enough bass to add a little punch to the audio (not a sub-woofer punch) and help the otherwise anemic audio of the TV. The speakers are great-sounding for both TV and other audio sources.

Great Bang-For-Buck Speaker!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In no way do I consider myself an audiophile so take my review with a grain-of-salt! I was looking for a cheap speaker to listen to my albums from the 80's that have been in a box for decades. I have a Realistic STA-2150 receiver with a Pioneer PL-514 turntable that also had been collecting dust. The Realistic says to only use with speakers having an ohm rating of 8-16 and these speakers are 6, but I intend to play at a relatively low volume so hopefully it wont be an issue. The sound quality is good but the albums need to be cleaned up and I'm not sure about the age of the turntable needle so any "snap, crackle , pops" that I've heard I contribute to the input source. I've only listened to these speakers a couple of times since my purchase but so far they've done what I want which is to transfer sound from my albums to my ears without breaking the bank and they have succeeded in that. The reviews of the speakers that I've seen on-line don't list them as the best speakers on the market; but for "bang-for-buck" they are always near or at the top. At $82.99 (open-box) for me it was a no-brainer!

Outstanding Sound!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a vintage 1992 Sony Stereo stack, complete with Receiver, CD changer, tape deck and radio receiver. I needed speakers that could be connected by bare wire and these the least expensive option. But the sound is not cheap. The system sounds better than new. Great treble/base balance.

Not bad for the price but not for prime time.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hoping that by going to a three way speaker I would get an improvement from my previous two way bookshelf speakers. I have to stick to the bookshelf size due to room limitations, What I found in these Sony's was a good set of speakers that were pleasant to listen to but not great. The highs were quite good and accurate, The lows were also good for the speaker size (still MUST have a subwoofer). However, the mid range did not quite have the clarity it should have to go with the high and low end (a bit muddy perhaps to describe the mids?). These speakers could have been great had Sony done a little bit better in the mid range area. Final verdict - not bad for the price but not quite ready for prime time and Hi Res.
