To be fair, it is in the ear of the beholder, and not having another speaker to compare it with all I can say is that it produces nice room filling sound. The price point makes it an excellent value.

I listened to every set hooked up at Best Buy and to my surprise they sounded great. I set up my 7.1 surround and I am blown away by the quality. Good job Sony

I mainly use them to listen to music, and they produce a clear, well-balanced sound. If you are wanting to feel the bass, then you will have to add a subwoofer. These are front-ported speakers, so they will work in most room configurations. With bottom or rear-ported speakers, you have to worry about speaker placement in relation to walls and other objects.

Note: I luv bass, so a sub is a must anyway! I live in an apartment so I can't have the sub thumping & these are perfect for that. (with sub volume set very very low).

Excellent tower speaker

But for the price, I purchased a set, a gave them a try. My opinion has completely changed! Initially, I had a pair of Sony SSCS5's but after break-in, and trying to get them "dialed in" for my living room, they were always lacking in the lower mid-range frequency. Well, these tower speakers did the trick! Music and movies are audibly clear, smooth sounding, and blend well with my subwoofer. A great purchase for the price and sound quality.

Best bargain in the whole country

But after hear several times these little towers on my local Best Buy, I had no choice. Are there better speakers ? Yes, there are. I got four towers for $100 each on Black Friday. For $100, you won’t find any other tower speaker in the world with the sound of these one’s. Does Klipsch sounds better ? Maybe but for four times more money and you won’t get four times better sound. For movies, you don’t need more than these speakers. They sound amazing. For music I added two subs from the same series with the front towers. They sound good, not awesome but enough for enjoy my musics. For the price range, these towers are the best speakers in the world.

They’ve sat in the basement for about six months. They long to be used one day again. I check in on them from time to time. They’re doing okay. Thanks for asking. If you’re still reading…yes, buy them.
