I love all the settings, the touch screen, and the fact that it fits securely in a small bag. It’s definitely on the pricier side but totally worth it if you can afford it!

Terrific for travel!

It's extra small and lightweight...the perfect all around camera for travel when you don't want to pack a bunch of heavy equipment. You won't be disappointed. Although it's a bit on the expensive side so I have rated the value down a notch.

The EVF and 200 equivalent lens is great but my favorite thing is the articulation of the screen. It helps allow creative angles.

Awesome pocket camera!

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.There are times you just don't want to carry your "big camera" - in my case if I'm gonna be in a theme park all day or other such location or when it's important to be a little discrete. This little fella with its small size, 200 mm zoom and 2.8 lens is perfect! You can put it in your pocket or hang it off your belt in a small case. Pop in a couple of extra batteries and you're set for the day. It makes great pictures and video to document your activities. It is pricey but as I've found over the years you get what you pay for. This is my 2nd in the RX100 line and it is an excellent alternative to carrying your dslr gear.

Expensive but very capable point and shoot

On the other hand, there are very few truly pocketable point and shoots that can do what this little camera can do. Nice telephoto and shoots both photos and video. Has a small built in flash. Works well with separate Sony shooting grip GP-VPT2BT with internal bluetooth connection.

A very well made, compact, capable camera.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a marvelous little jewel of a camera- it fits right in a shirt or front pants pocket and takes really nice photos and video. The autofocusing for both videos and photos is quick and assured; the camera knows to look for eyes to focus on if there are people in the frame, which helps ensure sharp focus. The camera also has a built-in flash which can come in handy on both super dark and brightly sunny occasions, and you can (somewhat cumbersomely) transfer your pictures to your phone for sharing. The camera can be fully automatic or fully user adjustable (I recommend setting the camera to S (shutter) mode at 1/125 second for social snaps to avoid blur from subject movement). I wouldn't bother to bring anything beyond this camera and my phone on vacations anymore unless maybe I needed a more extreme telephoto ability (perhaps on a safari or something like that?). Its price definitely puts it in the luxury category, but I do feel that you get reasonable value for money.

And returned it immediately. I had to purchase the product before they would let me see it. I think it would suit my needs and believe it would be a great camera but I am waiting for a little better price. Quite expensive for the camera. Hoping for a better price in the future.

Best compact camera hands down!

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you, like me, dont want to always carry around a DSLR and all the lenses etc needed to get the best shots possible but still want a decent zoom and have it still take great pics and video then look no further than the RX100 Vii. While the RX100 Vii is small, when holding it in your hand you can feel the heft and quality, it just feels solid in the hand. The zoom works flawlessly and can take you from 24-200mm with F2.8-4.5. The 2.8 is somewhat challenging in lower light conditions but the versatility given from the long focal range more than makes up for it in my opinion. Pics are FANTASTIC, it can take great time lapse or slow motion shots and the 4K video and color are unbelievable. With the flip up screen you can use to Vlog and create other content, all in a form factor that fits right in your pocket.
