Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, as a suggestion you can try changing the microphone sensitivity to high instead to be able to record in a large room and make sure that the built-in microphone is facing in the direction of the source to be recorded, unfortunately if the room is crowded and the source to be recorded is located in the far side it will be necessary to move the recorder closer to avoid unnecessary distortion.~ Jeannette
