The SRS-XB13 is durable and portable and includes a specially engineered strap to make it easier to travel with. But don’t be fooled by its small size, with Extra Bass™, Sound Diffusion Processor, this little speaker packs plenty of punch and surround sound. The Sound Diffusion Processor expands sound in any space, with its DSP technology.

Sound does not get very loud (can't hear it over shower running). Also the sound comes from the top and therefore needs to face the direction of the listener for optimum sound. I do like that I can hang it but that function pales in comparison to the below average sound quality. Battery life is average. Overall expected more from Sony.

The “Priority on sound quality” and “Priority on stable connection” modes are available as options for the playback quality of BLUETOOTH audio streaming. “Priority on sound quality” enables you to perform playback settings of SBC and AAC, so that you can enjoy high quality sound via BLUETOOTH connection. Thank you for the feedback and we're sorry what happen with the battery of your speaker. The built-in battery life of the speaker depends on how you use it. Actual performance time may vary from the listed time due to the volume, songs played, surrounding temperature, and usage conditions.
The rechargeable built-in battery has a life span. As time passes and the number of times that the built-in battery is used increases, the capacity of the rechargeable built-in battery slowly decreases. When the amount of time that the built-in battery can be used seems significantly shorter, despite having been fully charged. When the amount of time that the built-in battery can be used seems significantly shorter, it could mean that the rechargeable built-in battery has expired.

I bought this for a trip to Greece and we used it everyday poolside and in the villa. It's easy to use and connect to any phone. The sound was excellent! Compares to our home Sonos speakers! We do apologize for the sound quality issue that you're experiencing with the speaker. The loudness as well as the sound quality of this speaker will depends on the source that you're playing and audio device that you are using. Also, take note that sound becomes low while in use when the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor.

We do apologize for the inconvenience, maybe this can help.
If you use the speaker at a max volume (31), the battery will decrease faster. Generally lasting about 5 hours, though the type of music and ambient temperature will effect battery life of any battery operated speaker.
Compare this to about 26 hours of playback time when you turn down the volume to 26. Pretty big difference. Oh, and you can actually charge the XB13 while you play it.
