Fantastic little speaker!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The packaging was compact and completely recyclable with only a small amount of packing material in the box. Instructions- Two sets of instructions came with the speaker. It had a quick start guide and a more detailed set of instructions. The quick start guide made it easy to start playing music right away. The other cool thing the quick start guide showed was that multiple speakers can be connected to one music source and used together. Aesthetics- The speaker has a very nice textured feel and great color. The strap that came with it is a braided material with multiple shades of blue.. The strap clips and unclips easily, but its not particularly long. The speaker says it's waterproof. The only thing I could bring myself to do to test this was to hold it under a faucet for a few seconds. It played on as if nothing even happened. Battery life- When I first got the speaker I plugged it in and let it get to a fully charged state which happened relatively quickly. It uses a usb-c charger cord which was included. I have been listening to it on and off for a week now and I still haven’t had to recharge. Sound quality- The sound quality of this little speaker is pretty amazing. The high and mid range sound quality is excellent. The bass is pretty good for such a compact design, but not as full and deep as a larger speaker. I listen to all types of music and this speaker has taken it all in stride. It is also very loud at full volume for the size. In summary, the speaker is absolutely worth the $60 suggested retail price. The sound quality is outstanding for such a small speaker even if the low end range leaves a little to be desired. The long battery life and the fact that you can pair two together makes me want to get another one. The textured feel and the waterproof construction of the speaker are also very attractive features. The bluetooth range is also quite impressive. Overall, a good design and buy from Sony.

If you find the audio quality is not that great, you can adjust the BLUETOOTH audio streaming playback quality. The “Priority on sound quality” and “Priority on stable connection” modes are available as options for the playback quality of BLUETOOTH audio streaming. “Priority on sound quality” enables you to perform playback settings of SBC and AAC, so that you can enjoy high quality sound via BLUETOOTH connection. To adjust the sound quality of the speaker, you will need to configure the equalizer function of the connected audio device.

Thank you for the review. The loudness as well as the sound quality of this speaker will depend on the source that you're playing and audio device that you are using. Also, take note that sound becomes low while in use when the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor. The SRS-XB13 can also be paired with another SRS-XB13 if you want more powerful sound.

The sound may become low in the following cases. When the built-in battery is running low and the charge indicator flashes slowly, while the speaker is being powered by the built-in battery only or when the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor. To isolate the issue, charge the built-in battery sufficiently and try again.
