I think I just was unlucky, the picture was blurry when using the video!

U need 4k TV n 4k dvd to play.. Audio 5.1 no good. U hear every thing 2 times over and over

Tried this out for a few days however, it wasn't all that great so went back.

Works fine for a camcorder. But I was left wanting with the still quality.

4K but the footage from my canon camcorder in 2k looks better

Picture quality is acceptable. Don't waste your money.

You will pay on superfast cards(Trascend 256gb, about $200 each). You will need to buy a 4K video Card ($500 min). You will need a 4K monitor ($500 min). Oh and of course you will probably need a whole new computer with fast processor and tons of storage (maybe 3K!). However.. I took a sample into BestBuy, put it up on a 70" Sony, and even the best buy guys all came over and were oohing and ahhing.. maybe hype but sure looks great to my eye. Is it as good as the videos they show in-store? No. Those were shot with h265, probably in 60fps. This camera still records at h264 let's tell the truth about that..and it's 30fps so you'd better not drink coffee.. Photos are just OK. On vacations, I may have to bring my Nex7 as well which is a bit of a bummer. BUT if you're addicted to movie making like me , I just don't know how you do any better for the price..just be prepared to pay up for the privilege.

After using this camera for 2 weeks I LOVE it. It is just as many reviews have stated a great camera that does more than expected. What I would like to share is a few things that other reviews do not really mention some of which are limitations the camera has but given the current technology available were not too surprising. The 4K is excellent. It should be noted though that if you decide to go the highest quality setting, you cannot take stills on the fly. This goes for both 100mbs 4k and Hd AVCHD recording modes. In 4K the audio is only stereo while full surround does become available in Standard HD. During shooting the max still capture is 10.3mp while in dedicated still mode you can do 20mp. Something that other reviewers did not cover is how great of stills this camera captures. It is very fast response and takes very clear pictures in good light. Light sensitivity is where things get interesting. At lower light still do show some minor noise and 4k video is the same in this manner. The nightshot function is about the same as my DCR-TRV in 4K mode. Reducing down 1080 significantly improves the light response. I have yet to get the IR lamp which I do have for my old DCR-TRV which helped that model considerably in night time shooting. Lastly what was not mentioned on many reviews was how great all the manual controls are for those of us that are control freaks. While the manual ring can only have one of 6 settings at one time, that is okay. So far I have found that the ring is best set to focus or exposure control. This still does not stop you from having other settings manually set at the same time as you can set almost all setting manual through the touchscreen. I honestly thought that the touchscreen would place some barriers to ease of use but that is hardly the case. If it could have one feature that is lacking that would be the ability to scroll by swiping through settings like a smartphone. This might be a moot point though if in fact the NFD remote app does exactly that on one's phone. If there was any one fault with this camera that really bugs me is that it does not have the environmental protection that older models like my DCR-TRV has. I have had that out in wind, rain and even dust which out of all dust concerned me the most due to the tape mechanism. With this camera one purchase you should do immediately is a clear 52mm UV filter to protect the lense unit from dust and moisture as the camera is probably the most vulnerable to damage through the opening. I highly suggest taking precautions in rain and wet due to the design of the zoom controls and hot shoe on the top. I do hope that maybe Sony will get back to a few good protective features that were on my DCR-TRV like rubber jack plugs and sealed control surfaces on the top.

I purchased this to stream online, which this is supposed to have livestream built in. What they don't tell you is you are forced to stream to their "Ustream" account. I would have returned it had I realized it in time.

Night shot is awful, blurry videos. for the price i expected better.. ahhh... so disappointed in Sony!

I think for the price was going to be the best sony nice resolution not a lot of features on the options.

Nice camera but stopped working the same day I used the first time

I own the predecessor of this unit the FDR AX100. Simply put, this little puppy is a beast. If you're in the market for 4K for $1K grap this camera quick. The sensor is a little smaller than the FDR AX100 but the image quality will blow the competition away. It doesn't matter if you plan to film soccer games or a short film. You'll be satisfied with this camera guaranteed.

During the first day of using this camera I lost two video clips on two separate new SD cards. I cost me a great deal of time and several hundred dollars to retrieve the files.

Used this camera for about a year. It just stopped working - stopped recognizing the disk. Format error. Tried several disks. Saw others with same issue online. Not worth the trouble.

I was a bit nervous buying this camera with such a high price tag, but once i made the purchased, I've had no regret since, Great simple camera to use with amazing video quality. Not heavy in hand, feels just right

Doesn’t work for Live streaming due to the weird video format. Really dumb. Who is buying this garbage otherwise now?

Ordered it online and it arrived broken, the BOSS system was broken. Had to sent it into Sony who has done nothing with it, so glad I spend 700 dollars on nothing.

Quality not so good gets blurry to much got another one the exact same model still has the same problems too blurry
