I am a video professional but I bought this for my son and his family. I know Sony well and that is why I chose it for a non-professional as it has many features that ensure good footage and sound will prevail. He used to have to shoot on a tripod but no longer as the stabilizer in this camera reduces shake to the point that a tripod is not always necessary. The zoom and picture quality are excellent. Best Buy also price matched this purchase when it went on sale just after I bought it. Best Buy and Sony...nuff said.

We use this camera to video our boys football games and the picture quality is amazing! It is like you are right there watching the game! Super easy to use and compact enough to carry around. Can't wait to use it more!

This camera far exceeds my expectation. The quality of 4k video is phenomenal and the stabilization and the zoom capability of the camcorder is simply superb. I will highly recommend this to any friend.

This camera is easy to use and light weight. It has a good zoom in/out feature operated by your right index finger. This is my second Sony camcorder. All Sony says it is supposed to be.

I have been producing professional video for over 20 years. This camera for its size is an excellent run and gun video. When you don't want to carry all the big stuff and just want to get excellent HI Def or even 4K video, grab this little giant and go. The stabilization system at full throttle is almost rock solid. I have taken it on two vacations and have had more fun with this camera . It is so convenient and gooood!

Awesome video camcorder. This AX-53 can be used for an extended period of time (complete soccer matches). The ZOOM is everything I need. I was not able to zoom in and out quickly enough with other cameras. The best !!!

This camera doesn't disappoint this 30 year videographer. The 4K picture that this camera produces, with the stabilization is a lot of bang for the buck. The quality is outstanding with the features that this produces. I do a lot of volunteering of making veteran videos, this camera has made a huge difference as I was using a Canon Vixia model that didn't have 4K recording capabilities (Still a great camera that I will continue to use for a number of years). The wifi feature is nice, using it with my ipad pro, the app is nice, but it would be nice to be able to make settings changes while viewing on the iphone or ipad, but it shouldn't discourage anyone to buy this camera at the great price for the great features.

the quality of video you get with the ax53 is outstanding, stabilization is unbelievable, very user friendly. the only downside if you have large hands like myself the strap is almost useless.

Had my nephew use it for the first time to record a church service. He found it very easy to use lightweight and versatile. The clarity is very good , however to really experience it you need a 4K television still good clarity for regular HD tv.

The 4K is so crisp and the nighttime video is great. I find it very easy to use. Audio quality is actually amazing for a camcorder. Weight isn't bad and feels very comfortable in the hand

Does everything as advertised. The BOSS is why I bought this camcorder. I have grandkids playing sports and a stabilizer is critical. I realize smart phones can do movies but with this camcorder I get so much more optical zoom and the BOSS system...no smart phone can duplicate that. In addition, no camera is as easy to hold while doing video as a camcorder is. Don't let anyone tell you the days of camcorders are over...they just haven't experienced THIS camcorder yet.

I am an amateur, but I needed to graduate from the low cost camcorders because I record indoor performances for my wife's dance studio and some sports events, etc.. This camera has performed well at the events I have used it for so far. Things I like: It does a good job managing color in low light (for this price range). The sensor seems to be big enough to handle spotlights and other colored lighting situations. The anti-shake tech works good for my shaky hands. Transitions are clear in the final product. Manual focus works nicely in the few times that I tried it. All of the controls are in good and natural locations. Things that are not so good: Why does this not have an internal HD. It doesn't seem like it would cost that much more. Also, adding lens attachments is limited with this configuration.

This camera produces excellent quality video. I videoed a campfire at night and the video had very good quality. It doesn't look like a daylight video but it is well light and clear. I did not use any exterior lighting, just the light of the campfire. I downloaded video into a Mac computer. The only drawback was that it needs a fairly new operating system to download. If you just plug the camera in, it doesn't recognize it. You have to go about the download differently. The still photos are very good quality also. Overall, I am very pleased with the camera's ease of operation and quality of video. I especially like the eyepiece viewfinder as I have trouble seeing the screen in bright sunlight. This makes it an excellent camera to video daytime outdoor sports.

Probably one of the best consumer camcorders available. Excellent 4k, incredible image stabilization, and the night shot IR light Is bright enough to light up a typical size room. This thing is not the best in low light, although beats any other consumer camcorder I've seen. However with that in mind this IS a CONSUMER camcorder (hence the 5 star rating, when compared to other CONSUMER camcorders only, otherwise would only get a 2 maybe 3). Don't expect excellent low light performance or lots of manual controls. For someone looking to shoot paid gigs such as weddings etc, I can't recommend the Sony ax100 enough!

We do videography for non-profits and were looking to augment our three camera system with a 4K video camera. This Sony has excellent picture quality, a terrific 20X optical zoom, image stabilization, and outstanding low-light capabilities. We've used it for dance performances in direct sun-light, and for recording musicians on a dimly lit stage. Be prepared to spend a little time with the manual to understand all the features, and we also purchased the direction stereo microphone to improve the sound (the built in microphone is good, but omni-directional). For less than $1,000, this camera is excellent.

4K recorded video looks marvelous on playback. 1080 HD looks great on playback w smaller files ,too! Good optical zoom quality; digital zoom ...works. Wireless is has good range and works well w iPhone iPad. User ergonomics are simple and easy to locate/use. Enough said! ... If you only want to record events on the fly...like the trip to amusement park, birthdays...kids at ballgame. ProAm users... Skip this camera. No access to manual features without either touching the screen or toggling thru a list of manual options with one (focus) ring serving all function access...also requiring touching the body. The problem w even slightly touching the camera is the floating iris mechanism (boss system) works only when hand held... When on a tripod it magnifies every vibration immensely and you video will be very, very shaky for just a couple seconds until the camera figures it out...then all good again. No remote trigger port... So you won't be pressing the record/capture button unless you physically touch the buttons. Wireless only offers record/play/zoom..no other options... When you use wireless, all video and access to the functions on the camera are disabled...the video screen simply says,"using wireless"... So to change any settings you have to disconnect t wireless...all your manual settings are lost when you switch to wireless. HDMI port - only accessible when the camera is on! To turn off the camera you need to unhook everything...so you can't leave it set up. No simple way to delete content on the card...pressing delete ...when you can go into the settings to find it..will delete some items but not others...even if you select delete all. Using lowlight setting blocks usage of the gain settings. So it's either one or the other... And lowlight setting works far better than the gain controls. The list goes on.... Bottom line... This camera is a mess for ProAm users, but excellent for average simple use when shaky video and getting what the camera gives you is all you need. Did I say the video quality was excellent overall..when it's not shaky. 5 stars for everyday use. 2 stars for advanced user functionality.
