I purchased my Sony FDR AX53 around 2 weeks ago. The video quality is excellent. It was well packaged and everything was in the box that should be. I got a good price from Best Buy also. The only issue I have with this product is that I find it impossible (so far) to copy anything I record in 4K or any file format other than ACVHD. Even thought I purchased the adapter (required) for the direct copy feature and formatted my external drive (MAC) to Fat 32 as well as ex Fat and every time I try to direct copy, the camera has a message that pops up saying I can’t copy to external drive because it isn’t formatted correctly. It is very frustrating! I’m going on a trip to NY in a week and will be doing a week long project for around 10 hrs a day. I really need to find the answer to this problem in a hurry or I’m going to have to spend a fortune in memory cards. Sony needs to fix this issue. Make it completely comparable with a Mac. Everything I have seen says that it is, but my experience with a brand new 2TB external drive and a MacBook Pro says otherwise. Hope I figure it out very soon. Other than this issue it has a lot of great features for the price as well as excellent image stabilizer.

I used it during our three trips. It is so easy to use, so convinent, definitely would appreciate the memory it captured. The video quality is good! However, I took some pictures and when I uploaded it to my iPad to watch, the photos were a bit burry. Maybe because I didn’t use the highest definition, or maybe because I am not a good steady hand photographer.

This camera is easy to use with many great features such as the ability to record in multiple formats simultaneously. Built in Zoom microphone gives good sound, and an external microphone can also be connected. Battery endurance seems good.

Love the camera but I really wish I bought it somewhere else other than Best Buy. I could not get help in store when I was purchasing the camera, so I bought a backup battery that wasn’t the right size for the camera. Now I’m stuck with an $80 battery and no back up thanks to Best Buy… the back up battery really would have came in handy on my big European trip but no help from any staff left me at a dead end so from now on, I’m taking my money elsewhere. See you never Best Buy

This is an excellent camera. It wild be 5 stars of some of the wireless features were easier to use. They are basically too combersome to use on a regular basis. Image quality and zoom are great as well as the slow motion. I use this to record my daughter's gymnastics meets. Often she will be 50 ft or more away, but you would never know from the videos.

This is a 4k camera that I can shoot much of the video footage I need for the music video projects I am involved in with my production company. It has the ability to zoom, take stills, autofocus and record audio for the pieces. The video quality is great and perfect for post-processing.

Best camcorder for under a grand. This camcorder is easy the best quality camcorder, it’s auto setting are easy but can still use Manuel setting for more professional use

I purchased this unit to record 4K UHD video for my YouTube channel, replacing the Sony HDR-CX675. While 60 fps recording at 4K would have been nice, 30 fps is okay for what I do. The video quality is rich all around, with no blurring in the corners. Balanced Optical works mostly as intended. I personally do not like where the tripod mounting point is, located closer to the front by the lens, rather than being centered, which makes tripod mounting less stable. I have read stories of other users getting cracks in the frame around the mounting area due to instability. I originally wanted to go for the lower-cost AX43, but the loss of the manual ring dial and spot focus were deal-breakers. Overall I am satisfied with the camcorder.

After 10 yrs using a Panasonic HDD 720 camera, I decided to upgrade to this. I love it, great image even at max zoom. Love the wireless capability. Won't bore you with details, buy it, you won't regret it

Though I am typically a Canon user, I went with the Sony - Handycam AX53 4K Flash Memory Camcorder - Black, after reading a review in a trade magazine. I am pleased so far and really like the fact that the camera has a full 35mm sensor for recording the images. The built-in stereo mic is good and may even be a bit too good for most applications. It truly picks up everything. I will be adding a shotgun mic to the camera to sit in the accessory shoe on the top of the camera. Battery life is outstanding and the on-screen menu is very good and intuitive. The night shot function works well, though I have never used it except for running the camera through it's paces. The SD cards can be expensive, but the cards can be reused over and over if need be. It is best to zero the card before re-using it. All-in-all, this is a great camera for the money. If the lens were interchangeable, this would be a perfect camera for indie, zero budget filmmakers.

I bought this camera mainly for the stabilization and low light. It really came down to the AX700 and this one, and I couldn't justify the price of the AX700. It worked well for my needs.

Been using this camera for a couple of years , works great , has more features than I could possibly use, but the stabilizer is great , zoom is great , has not let me down yet

This camera is extremely easy to use and has a great picture and image stabilization features. It also seems to have lots of "professional" features that I will probably never use but for someone who knows more about photography, they could be useful.

I bought this to record dog agility seminars I was teaching so I could edit and put on the web. Often held in barns and other large areas. The sound pickup was not good at all. However, with the purchase of some bluetooth wireless microphones, I am more than happy with the camera. Great picture, easy to use.

We bought this camera to capture our child’s milestones and wanted something small enough and easy enough to use that it wasn’t burdensome. So far it has been amazing. The picture quality is beyond my expectations and it is so easy to use.

The auto focus is excellent. The camera is so simple to use its not funny. The picture quality is great. The menu is very easy to navigate and set up is a breeze. If your looking for a filming quality camera at an affordable price look no further!

The camera does everything advertised and is easy to use. It brings many formerly professional camera attributes to a consumer grade camera at a reasonable price.

I am blown away with this camera, the B.O.S.S. is next level amazing. You can run with this camera and it makes it look clear and stable. That is where this camera really shines, the built in stabilization is peerless.

Expensive but does an amazing job for videos. In my line of work finding a camera that fits my requirements (high quality video, size/compact, long lasting battery).
