It was an open box edition but seems to be good as new. I also bought a SanDisk - Extreme 128GB SDXC memory card. With the 128GB card, the camera has worked great. However, when I used my older 8GB card, it had a couple minor issues requiring the camcorder to be restarted or have the battery removed and replaced to clear. I recommend getting the extreme versions of the memory cards to make sure to get the best quality and performance. I also would have liked to have a separate battery charger included so I would not have to plug in the camcorder each time to recharge. Overall, I love it!

I recently used it at a family campfire and the low light night shot worked great. It doesn't record in true color when using this setting however it records clear images at night. I especially like the eye viewfinder that I used during the day because the viewing screen was hard to see in bright sunlight.

I just wish they would incorporate the stabilization system to their AX100 4K. Never the less the AX53 is an outstanding product.
