Having been a loyal, Sony enthusiast for 30 years, having probably spent $50K+ on their products, I cannot even begin to describe how upset I am over my purchase of this camera. I took a leap of faith and purchased an "Open Box-Like New" camera from Best Buy as it saved me about $150. This was in February of 2019. I used the camera twice since then, indoors for short periods of time, and it has been sitting on my office shelf until I went to use it a 3rd time and was unable to hold down the zoom in place. Basically, once you remove your finger from the zoom bar the zoom doesn't hold its location it reverts to the original position. Already kicking myself at this point for purchasing an Open Box item, I nevertheless had the warranty from Sony for a full year, so contacted Sony and sent it in for repair. Tracking showed that the camera was on its way back a week later, and when I opened the box it was accompanied by a receipt showing "Camera Not Repaired-Beyond Economical Repair-Corrosion Damage". How could this be I said to myself as the unit could not possibly have had corrosion damage as I never left the house with it and it was barely touched? Anyway, called up Sony and after speaking to several people reading off a script, was basically told that the best they could do for me was to offer me $150 off a new unit. They agreed that any corrosion damage was most likely the result of the original owner who returned it. They mentioned that people will buy these high end items, use them for an event or weekend, and then return them due to the generous store return policy. Then they get sold as "Open Box". I am now left with an $800 purchase that doesn't function properly, no use of the zoom, and one that should have lasted many years. I post this review as a "Buyer Beware" pubic notice for anyone that is considering buying an Open Box item.

This was an excellent buy! I needed a new upgrade and this fit the bill perfectly.

This will be the last camera I will need. That's because I'm old now.... lol. I'd recommend this camera to anyone.

I start using it for livestream on social media, (And maybe it’s me) BUT I’m not sure why the camera goes to a promotional SONY screen sometimes and it’s a pain in the neck!! I already check settings and tutorials and still having that problem, NOW if you are going to use it for vacations or as a regular camera works great!!

Great camera. But if you plan on using a tripod, get something else. The on board stabilization makes the video shake badly even with a really good fluid head....

Really good camera for home video. 4K is pretty impressive, I haven’t used it for stills yet, but I’m sure it will perform well.

Got the camera and tried to start using it. The manual suggests to use "PlayMemories Home" to connect the software to a smart phone. After lots of looking, turns out PlayMemories Home is no longer supported by Sony. Finally figured out there is something now called Imaging Edge Mobile, still didn't work but finally after rebooting everything, was able to connect to Smartphone. Then, in trying to connect to computer, decided to ignore all the PlayMemories Home references and was able to find Imaging Edge Desktop. But kept getting message that unable to connect to computer. Used USB, but after watching many YouTube videos, figured out was supposed to set the USB Connection to "PC Remote" and not Mass Storage or MTP. One problem--no such option on my camera. When I search on Sony website for help, they STILL have references to PlayMemories and nothing about Imaging Edge. This product is priced multiples higher than competing Chinese product, but I bought it because I thought it would be top quality. Instead, zero Sony support. Thinking about returning it.

I have researched a lot before purchasing this handycam. And I can proudly n happily say it was a great buy.

The stabilizer is great even whilst moving on a boat. Good quality easy to use. Only negative audio is not the best requires external mic
