this is a great 4k camcorder, except for shaky video trying to follow moving action. I used a monopod to record sporting events. tilting the camera forward and zooming in causes the lens to vibrate and the recording is shaky. installed the latest firmware, but still had issues.

Worked great until about a year later, Aug of 2021. Turned it on, appeared normal, hit record and it shuts down. Now its a paper weight. Well cared for and I am a camera guy. Really sux that it failed, I have been Sony most of my life, now I have to rethink it...

Already had to swap this out once. This one freezes up and stops recording for no apparent reason.

The 4K video is super. The mechanical gimbal that holds the video steady is incredible, Just like a Hollywood movie camara

Impressive camcorder. The Zeiss lens seems to have a gyroscope built in making the shots look more natural. Have infrared light for shots with limited natural ambient light.

Might be defective but I will never know since the store refused to exchange but the quality of video is very poor. Bought as an upgrade to 4K expecting it to be better than my old handicap by Sony but the old is better than the new one! I would never buy again especially for the outrages price!

This is a great camera if your looking to do film sports or home movies around the house. Doesn’t do that well in low light. Best used outside in daylight. Solid build easy to use

I don't think it's worth the price image quality is not as good as I thought it would be.

I've had this recorder one year and purchased the worthless extra warranty with it. The LCD touchscreen stopped working while working!! Cannot get Best Buy to repair it for two months minimum. They don't do in store repairs. They don't offer a loaner. Looks like I will have to purchase a new camcorder if I want to send this away for a few months to get repaired. What a piece of crap and crappy service. Not buying from Best Buy anymore. No one ever answers the phone and when you finally do get someone, they transfer you to the Philippines. Ridiculous! I suggest buying something other than this camcorder and I suggest making your purchase elsewhere. They will burn up your warranty just waiting to be fixed.

This camera shuts down after a couple seconds of trying to record in 4k. Google search reviews tons of people having this issue. Using an Extreme Plus SD Card, which has all the specs required, and still shuts down. Video quality is ok in the other modes. Zooming creates somewhat of a distorted quality. Could be much clearer. Plugged in a Rode External mic. Feedback on each video. Most likely the mic quality, or the audio jack. Sound is good without the external mic. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this camera. Find something better for that high f a price.

Bought this camera a few months ago and I don’t regret it. Love having all precious family moments in one place. The viewfinder is not the best & the LCD display lacks in the bright outdoors but still a good overall camera.

I purchased this camera and when i received it it was defective. apparently these cameras have an issue where when you press record in the 4k mode the camera will freeze and restart. I returned it and exchanged it for a canon vixia g50. get the g50. it's a much better camera and its the same price. oh and i had to ask for the manager because they wanted to charge me a $160 restocking fee. i did not pay that fee. I demonstrated the defectiveness of the camera to her.

I have not had a chance to utilize as of yet. Will soon.

this product was received damaged, and the return process is almost impossible. The store manager was very rude when requesting a return. Really hard to rate something you never got a chance to use.

Directions were printed in small type Hard to read For a few pennies more, I would have liked to see large print clearer directions Why would you make such a technologically advanced product so difficult for a customer to figure out how to use?? Bob

The tripod mount broke on my first use and when attempting to return for defect the customer service team took an extraordinarily lengthy time to resolve the issue. Sony needs to not only make the screw metal but the attaching plate of high strength material as well.

I have had this camera for almost a month. It has been easy to use and easy to transfer videos from my SD card to my Mac. I use iMovie to edit the videos and it works great. The battery is great. I filmed a 9 hole round with my friends and still had half the battery life left. The viewfinder is great when recording in daylight and it is nice to have when you are trying to follow or track something such as a golf ball with the camera. The 4K is great but I do not use it. Most of my recordings have been hand held and I like to use the intelligent active mode which is only available in 1080 HD. The BOSS stabilization system has been great when on the golf course or going on hikes.
