Probably one of the best consumer camcorders available. Excellent 4k, incredible image stabilization, and the night shot IR light Is bright enough to light up a typical size room. This thing is not the best in low light, although beats any other consumer camcorder I've seen. However with that in mind this IS a CONSUMER camcorder (hence the 5 star rating, when compared to other CONSUMER camcorders only, otherwise would only get a 2 maybe 3). Don't expect excellent low light performance or lots of manual controls. For someone looking to shoot paid gigs such as weddings etc, I can't recommend the Sony ax100 enough!

We do videography for non-profits and were looking to augment our three camera system with a 4K video camera. This Sony has excellent picture quality, a terrific 20X optical zoom, image stabilization, and outstanding low-light capabilities. We've used it for dance performances in direct sun-light, and for recording musicians on a dimly lit stage. Be prepared to spend a little time with the manual to understand all the features, and we also purchased the direction stereo microphone to improve the sound (the built in microphone is good, but omni-directional). For less than $1,000, this camera is excellent.

4K recorded video looks marvelous on playback. 1080 HD looks great on playback w smaller files ,too! Good optical zoom quality; digital zoom ...works. Wireless is has good range and works well w iPhone iPad. User ergonomics are simple and easy to locate/use. Enough said! ... If you only want to record events on the fly...like the trip to amusement park, birthdays...kids at ballgame. ProAm users... Skip this camera. No access to manual features without either touching the screen or toggling thru a list of manual options with one (focus) ring serving all function access...also requiring touching the body. The problem w even slightly touching the camera is the floating iris mechanism (boss system) works only when hand held... When on a tripod it magnifies every vibration immensely and you video will be very, very shaky for just a couple seconds until the camera figures it out...then all good again. No remote trigger port... So you won't be pressing the record/capture button unless you physically touch the buttons. Wireless only offers record/play/zoom..no other options... When you use wireless, all video and access to the functions on the camera are disabled...the video screen simply says,"using wireless"... So to change any settings you have to disconnect t wireless...all your manual settings are lost when you switch to wireless. HDMI port - only accessible when the camera is on! To turn off the camera you need to unhook everything...so you can't leave it set up. No simple way to delete content on the card...pressing delete ...when you can go into the settings to find it..will delete some items but not others...even if you select delete all. Using lowlight setting blocks usage of the gain settings. So it's either one or the other... And lowlight setting works far better than the gain controls. The list goes on.... Bottom line... This camera is a mess for ProAm users, but excellent for average simple use when shaky video and getting what the camera gives you is all you need. Did I say the video quality was excellent overall..when it's not shaky. 5 stars for everyday use. 2 stars for advanced user functionality.

Easy to use! takes great video!! I still have not used in low light situation, which is why we chose this camera, but impressed with everything else so far.

Great low light cam corder. Zoom is awesome, I use this camera everyday to creat YouTube aviation videos. Light weight easy to operate.

I bought this as my primary camcorder for work (fraud investigator). It does not disappoint. This isn't your regular point and shoot..... but it can be if needed. Amazing quality, excellent low-light capability with little to no artifacts, and the nightshot is as expected. Camera turns on immediately upon opening the screen, and another awesome feature (for me) is the fact that it actually has a viewfinder, which is rare these days. Great for people (again, in the industry I'm in) to be able to open up the viewfinder discreetly without light from the screen blaring in my face. For you video-heads out there, the quality, manual controls, everything about this camcorder is top notch. No, it doesn't have the absolute control you'd find in a $5,000 camera - but the quality is comparable. Plus, post-processing matters alot as well. I would absolutely recommend this camcorder to anybody. Whether you're shooting a wedding, your kids sporting event, or doing what I do for a living.

Camera is lightweight and very easy to use. Great quality videos. We bought this to capture all the special moments in our new baby's life. Love it!

We have 4K TV's so we bought this Sony 4K Handycam. It takes great video and the sound is so life like. I shot outside, inside, fireworks and a Gunfighters show at night and the Camera did a super job. I had to get a bigger battery because the one that comes with it [NP-FV70] only last 2 1/2 hrs. to the Sony NP-FV100A that last 5 1/2 hrs. I am very happy with this Camera.

Been using this camera for a couple of years , works great , has more features than I could possibly use, but the stabilizer is great , zoom is great , has not let me down yet

I bought this to record my church services during the Covid outbreak. Like most churches its a little darker inside. Honestly I don't notice much difference between this camera and my older 1080p sony camcorder. Don't get me wrong, the camera did a pretty good job. (Not much noise). I took more video outside in the sun and the video quality was pristine. I didnt' give it 5 stars because I think the price was a little high.

This is a great camera! it is light in weight and the stabilization mode is awesome! It is very easy to use.

I have had a Sony HDR-PJ670 Handycam since 2012 and I love it. However, in bright sunlight, it was difficult to see the view screen. I bought the AX53 Model primarily because it has an optical viewfinder in addition to the view screen. Other advantages include time lapse capability with adjustable picture taking intervals, much large batteries and three resolution modes including 4K.

I sold my sony ax-33 to "upgrade" persay to this ax-53. Its lighter and definitely doesnt feel as well made in comparison to the ax-33. Its basically identical aside for having a farther zoom. Had some auto focus issues at my last outing with it at the track which is very inconvenient and had my ax-33 for years and never really experienced those but a hand full of times. Over all though its a great camera that produces great quality film and even pretty decent still photos. Just not sure it was worth the extra money and selling my ax-33 for...

This Sony 4k camera is great for anyone that wants to capture video in the latest resolution. This camera features great low light and OIS when recording. you can use wifi or NFC that is built into the camera to transfer files of the camera and use the Sony app to change the settings on the camera. The microphones are 4 channel which means you get the best sound in the business and the ability to cancel out your own voice and wind. I would highly recommend for video makers and youtubers!.

We bought this camera as an upgrade/replacement for an old Sony HD model. It is capable of great recordings but only under ideal conditions or when it feels like it. We use it mostly for action recordings of our dogs in agility competitions. The auto focus is iffy at best and completely useless at its worst. In less than ideal lighting it is terrible and the recordings are worthless. The WiFi transfer option is also very buggy when connecting to our phones and tablets, all Apple products. We still prefer to use actual video cameras over our phones for recording, mostly due to the zoom capabilities in cameras and the zoom limitations in smartphones but it is such a shame the manufacturers do not put the effort into creating quality products of this type anymore. Our last three Sony cameras have each been worse than the last model as far as if the features function correctly. We have owned this camera for a little over a year and are now replacing it with another brand in hopes of finding one that actually works.

This is a great 4K handycam. When you can't afford spending more this is the one to get. It's not a budget camera but rather a step above. Don't get scared though, the internals are "loose" until you put a battery on them and then they tighten up.
