I have always liked the line of Sony cameras and camcorders, but the quality of products seem to be getting cheaper at the same price point. The cx405 may produce good quality video, however, it feels like a small, plastic toy. Getting past the setup menu was also a chore. If you are looking for something small and light, you may be happy with this model.

I bought this camera for my daughter when she had her first child (my first grandchild). I was torn between this model and the similarly-priced Canon, but the Best Buy salesman said this was the better camera. It has all the features you would ever need to capture those precious moments in life. Yes, it does feel a bit "light" in your hand, as though you paid $250 for something that probably cost $10 to make. But it works like a dream. I would recommend this camera to anyone.

Easy to use and setup. Editing software from Sony play memories will not convert files to record to DVDs only posting to social media. Will need additional software to convert files to burn DVDs. Great for playback on hdmi on tv and posting to social media, but if you need DVDs, be prepared to buy software
