The Sony Handycam CX405 is a good budget entry-level camcorder. Nothing fancy, but the 30X optical zoom takes better video than most expensive smart phones. Because of its lightweight, I attached a heavy duty lanyard with a snap-on swivel hook so I can hang it around my neck. I can then take video and not worry about dropping it. Be sure to buy a microSD card when picking up or ordering the this camcorder.

This is a nice camera, pretty easy to use. Since I don't have a smart phone I needed a camera that was light weight to take pictures and short video. This camera has worked fine. Only thing I wish it did that it doesn't is let you get a still picture from the video. You can do it if you transfer to the computer and take a bunch of steps, but picture isn't great. But overall it is a very good inexpensive camera.

The quality isn't the greatest, but you get what you pay for. It is great to pack and carry along while hiking or any other outing that involves light travel. Image stabilization is decent, and picture quality is decent in good lighting. Very grainy in low light, but again this is not a high end camcorder.
