Customers are saying
Customers love the Handycam CX405 Flash Memory Camcorder's video quality and ease of use, frequently praising its lightweight design and compact size, making it ideal for travel. While some users noted the need to purchase a memory card separately and mentioned limitations in low-light performance and features, the positive feedback on image quality and user-friendliness outweighs these concerns.

Convenient, Easy to use and Travelable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great camcorder to use for vlogging and traveling. It's lightweight and easy to hold while taking videos. You can take pictures as well. The screen flips so you can video yourself and see yourself. Video quality is very good and the zoom is pretty good for a beginner. If you want extreme details for distance shot and special lighting, you will have to spend more money. But, for most uses, this is a great camcorder.

Terrific and simple
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this camera up because I needed a third camera to do three camera interviews. Didn't want to spend a ton, and this was the cheapest HD video camera I could find. Excellent low light capability, color balance and autofocus. Can intersperse video with video from a Canon 70D or 5DII and fits in perfectly. Auto stabilization makes it great for hand held interviews when a tripod isn't practical, but has a tripod connection for when you need it. Charges from USB cable to computer. No remote mic connection, but audio works well. If you need better sound, best to record separately and synch. It's simple enough for a novice to use, but produces good enough quality (as long as you don't need 4K) that you can use it on more advanced projects.

Great camcorder, easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Sony camcorder to film video of my wedding. I was a bit concerned from some of the negative reviews, especially about sound quality, since there is no external mic input, and because I had real Hollywood professionals singing solos. I made a separate independent audio recording to ensure I had good sound. But what I found was that with the zoom mic setting filming from a tripod in the balcony, even across some distance, the sound came out surprisingly great and clear. Additionally, the church sanctuary had very low lighting, yet the video quality is quite good. The result is a video of this wonderful event that looks and sounds much better than expected from an entry level video camera. Another concern I had was in regard to the recording format and whether it would be difficult to upload to my computer for viewing and editing. It is quite simple using the free Sony PlayMemories software as explained in the user guide. Following the upload, one can convert to MP4 if one wishes to use a more comprehensive video editing program if it does not support AVCHD or XAVC S format native to this camera. Both the upload over USB and the conversion process to MP4 is very slow, especially if the video is full resolution and long duration, so I let it run through the night and could edit the following day. However, if one wants a quick viewing, the camera can simultaneously record a lower resolution MP4 version that can be copied quickly to the computer. Also worth mentioning is that the zoom range of this camera is amazing, from very wide angle to far away zoom, much broader than competitive cameras. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and will cherish my wedding video forever.

Great Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Camcorder for recording. I have a dslr camera, which will also record, but they are short clips. It is very light, and easy to carry. I don't like having to charge the battery in the camcorder. It would be great to have a charger, without the battery being left in it. At first, it was hard to get my videos to download. But you have to follow the manual step by step. It can get trickey in exporting.

Amazing Quality, Low Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My family was looking for a low cost, quality camera to take home movies on and this product was perfect! You'll need a micro SD versus a standard SD memory card, but can easily transfer files to the computer to store on a DVD. It also has an HDMI cable so that you can hook the camera itself to your HDTV so that you can watch your home movies with surprisingly high quality for what you would expect at the price!

Fantastic camera for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the camcorder about a week ago. This is the first one we have owned, wish we purchased one earlier. It is very easy to do the stup and have it ready to shoot video. I love Sony products because I have 6 Sony TV's ranging from 60" to a 32" and never had any problems. I would recommend this camera to beginners, it takes great 1080p videos.

Great introductory camera for beginners
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony Handycam CX405 is a great and durable entry level camera for beginning film makers. My twin teen-age sons are very interested in film making and I'm not necessarily interested in sharing my high-end equipment with teenage boys. The CX405 is high-quality for the price point, durable enough for the boys to use and abuse, and affordable enough that if they break or loose it I won't have a complete fit. Video quality is very good and this camera is easy to learn.

Excellent camera for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this nice little camcorder as a Christmas present for my wife to capture all the memories of our new baby girl! Only had the camcorder for a couple weeks now, but so far, we are loving it. Very simple to use and excellent zoom feature makes taking good looking videos effortless. Haven't really dived into the editing software as of yet which is the reason for only 4 out of 5 stars. Overall, we are very happy with this camcorder and the price we paid for it.

Great Zoom
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camcorder takes great HD videos and it has a great zoom. The still images are Ok, not the best. My Cannon takes better pictures but the Sony HDR CX405 takes better video. I'm really impressed with how clear the video looks when I zoom in. The camcorder also has good sound.

Excellent camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best camera on a budget you can get, I bought it back in 11-2015 and use it quite frequently so I waited over a year to do a review on it. I always record on the XAVC S mode which gives you a better quality it does use more space but its definitely worth it, I use it in conjunction with Adobe Elements which you can save your videos in 4k resolution. I got this camera at a steal for $129 at that time when it was on sale. in the daytime or very well lit places this camera shines, at night time not so much you can see a little bit of distortion but not as much as will be a deal breaker. i fine tune it when i'm editing my videos..I've read some reviews where they say they bought it for their kids...don't let those comments fool you..its an excellent camera keep in mind that is budget friendly. check this video out try to watch it in 4k resolution if you can, its not the best thing out there but it is an excellent product.
