I HAVE A SONY HDR-CX240 THAT LOOKS THE SAME AS THE CX405 GREAT VIDEO QUALITY I HAD MY SONY SINCE 2014 MY UNCLE GAVE MY SOME MONEY FOR CHRISTMAS & I GOT IT FROM BEST BUY FOR 120.99 ON SALE REG .230 DOLLARS CLOSE OUT OPEN BOX ITEM THAT CAMCORDER TO THIS DAY IS WORKING GREAT. I USE IT ALL THE TIME FOR VIDEOS. ITS MY BEST QUALITY CAMCORDER THE PHOTOS LOOK BAD LIKE 2 MEGAPIXELS. THE VIDEO QUALITY IS GREAT THE AVCHD FILES WORK GREAT IN SONY MOVIE STUDIO 13 AND THE MP4 FILES LOOK GOOD BUT MTS IS MUCH CLEARER VIDEO QUALITY. I WOULD BUY ANOTHER SONY CAMCORDER IF ANYTHING EVER HAPPENS TO MY SONY 240

Was looking for something to record my daughter's sporting events (soccer, lax) and was frustrated that our GoPro can't zoom in close enough to capture the action. This camera has been great. Small and light weight, picture quality is what you'd expect for the price (and not HD) which is fine with me. I do like the option to take pictures while recording as well.

Very happy and satisfied. Was not expecting pristine imagery and videos based on other reviews, but I feel that it a very good quality video camera for the cost associated with it. Then again, I am always reasonably contented with SONY products in general. Would recommend.

I love this camcorder. I purchased it three years ago and it has held up well. We use this weekly to make family videos. It is easy to use and the picture is great.

I only write reviews now and again. I think Sony makes great products but I'd pass on this one and will easily tell you why. I purchased this about a month ago and returned it to BestBuy. I wanted a camcorder mainly for vlogging and didn't want to use my iPhone. So I figured this inexpensive 1080p would do it for $200 (I got an open box for $140). The video quality is somewhat grainy, even when set optimally in manual mode and lighting conditions. Auto mode doesn't really help. And the audio is quite horrible. For all of you like me, who are just amateurs but need something decent, read below. For $230, you can get a GoPro 7 Black (which I did) which has really great 4K video, built-in live streaming for certain websites, and the audio quality on the GoPro is pretty great right out of the box. Plus the GoPro has made me appreciate taking videos a bit more even when not blogging. And it's waterproof to 33 feet and almost unbreakable, etc. The 4K is truly stunning. I took it "driving" on a sunny day driving around 30-60 mph and the 4K was unbelievable. It has stabilization and all kinds of other stuff. While Sony, I'm sure, makes great 4K camcorders for $800 plus, this camcorder is really not worth $200. So, this mediocre Sony Camcorder for $200 or the GoPro 7 Black for $230?

Very easy to use and the video quality was great! I used this in the car as we were driving and the video never seemed shaky when we watched it later on.

This was an amazing camera! I highly recommend this camera for young filmmakers out there! I used this to film Oxi Clean Double Dose Stain Remover! The results were amazing! :D I'd advise not to buy any cameras on Amazon.com. Majority of them have been used or are somewhat damaged. I'd consider using Best Buy to buy NEW/UNUSED cameras. Don't make the mistake in believing Amazon has new and unused cameras. (Because they don't) Have no complaints with this camera. Very first film camera I have ever owned. And I have zero regrets.

Fantastic camera for photos and video. Battery life is extremely short when shooting video had to buy a second battery. Overall a good camera

This item was purchased for a Christmas gift for my dad. He had mentioned want to make more videos for memories around the holidays. The camera has taken him a little longer to get used to than I would like. It was not as user friendly for older people and it is much smaller than he was expecting. The playback is very nice. Hopefully by Memorial Day he'll have it down packed.
