Sound Stinks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this and the x20s at the same time. There are very poor mids and the bass isn't impressive at all. believe I will be taking it back.

Must have!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay this speaker is so amazing I had to go out and buy a second one. I might possibly buy a few more. These pack some weight to them and are stable at either position. The lighting is gray and with the Sony app you can adjust the type of light or turn them off. You can also adjust audio settings with custom EQ and custom dj type options. From the app you can adjust the bass boost, sync the speakers together and also power them off. The way the backs of these are designed I assume they will be making mounts for these soon. I would like to see a wall mount system. They also have a mic hook up for PA usage. I don’t have a mic to test that part. I will be also using these in my Halloween yard haunt for ambient music. You can turn the lights off or set to strobe. I will set the strobe option and point them at props. I have been showing them off and think I may need to buy stock in Sony since I have sold everyone I’ve shown haha. I was at a wedding a week ago and with these and a iPad I would have owned the dj they hired.

loud speaker for parties maybe.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this speaker might be good for a party where people are not paying attention to the sound quality of the product,It has really good bass but not so much sound clarity, mids are missing making highs very pronounced and separated , the sound not well balanced,it is as if the speaker was under water where you feel the bass but all the other sounds are lost and muddy.Sony owes their customers a driver update ,an app update or both .maybe an equalizer that allows for way better adjustment than what is in the app right now.HELP SONY,HELP!

Great speaker and fun lights
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this as an indoor/outdoor party wireless speaker. The sound is decent but lacking bass. The price is expensive and I think smaller just as powerful wireless speakers exist. It is also really big. It does have the option to connect several together and a mic if you want that karaoke effect. Battery life is so so but have it plugged in if possible.

Disappointing sound and annoying lights
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Summary: Perhaps I'm not in the target market for this speaker, but it sounds muddy and the light show is (a) annoying and (b) constantly turning itself on. A flaky iPhone app for configuration and intermittent connection issues didn't do much to win me over, either. At this price, there are much better options out there. Introduction: I'm not necessarily an audiophile, but I've owned and listened to many stereo systems over the years. I personally prioritize clarity, detail and accuracy over "bump and thump", so I may not be in the target market for a Bluetooth speaker that focuses on dance party prowess. With that said, I've used some other Sony Bluetooth speakers over the past few years and have, for the most part, come away impressed. They seem to have a particular talent for making big sound from small speakers. The good: Battery life lives up to expectations; it definitely is good for all-day listening at moderate volume levels. The charger is built in, needing only a 2-prong power cord rather than an external wall charger, making it easier to find a place to plug it in. Handle on top makes it convenient to carry. The bad: Sound is just plain muddy, and turning on the "extra bass" feature only makes it worse. The high frequencies sound very muffled, lacking clarity and detail. Trips into the equalizer settings on the Sony "Music Center" app just gave different flavors of muddiness, when they did anything at all. Blinking "dance party" lights on the speaker turned themselves on even when the speaker wasn't running, forcing a trip into the manual to figure out how to shut them off while the speaker charged. The ugly: Sony "Music Center" iPhone app seems buggy and behaves inconsistently. Made you re-pair the app with the speaker every time you launched the app, which was time-consuming and annoying. At one point, the EQ settings just seemed to do...nothing...no matter what you set them to; plus the speaker acted like it was losing connection to the phone, with the music cutting in-and-out as it played (despite the phone sitting on top of the speaker, so it definitely wasn't out of range). Deleting the app from the phone, deleting the speaker from the Bluetooth device list, then re-installing and re-pairing the speaker with the phone seemed to solve those issues.

Good Product, Terrible Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product for my wife on her birthday from Best Buy a couple months ago. We love it, some say it’s a portable speaker others say it has great sound quality, I enjoy it for what I use it for: cleaning the house, our Alexa speaker just doesn’t push out the volume we want, at the beach - worked great, sounded good and decent battery life, when I’m outside working out, or playing tennis. The product pushes out the sound at the quality and volume that is acceptable to me. Not hard to please considering I was using an Alexa speaker prior. Now the bad, within the last month my device has started having moments of no sound where the music stops playing on the speakers but continues playing on the iPhone. Next, this week, I have been unable to connect my iPhone, or my Mac to this product, while my wife can connect her iPhone. I followed the manual, completed the factory reset, etc. etc. she still can connect whereas I cannot. I finally emailed Sony support (Their call center is “shutdown” due to COVID-19) as I am within one year warranty and the tier five tech has asked me to buy/borrow a non-Apple product to test on this device. His reasoning is the new Apple update has caused issues connecting to Bluetooth, I said I understand, but every device in my house is updated to the latest iOS and out of 5 devices, only two do not connect. I challenged the tech with this and he refused to continue my support until I purchase or borrow someone else’s device to test. He stated he’d keep my ticket open and provided me with a number to call back. My frustration stems from the lackadaisical support from Sony and to the fact that this product not more than two months old already has issues. I am disheartened that Sony support would advocate purchasing additional products to “test” on the speaker. Sony’s refusal to provide any other support has left me reconsidering their products.

Great sound. Features suck.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound from this speaker is great, as is all Sony products I have ever purchased (and I am loyal to Sony because of their sound quality). If the sound on this device seems low, turn up the volume on the device that is connected (ipod, etc.). Then you can adjust the volume on the speaker and it does get loud. The app is a joke. Worthless as far as I am concerned. It is glitchy with connection. It does not keep your bass or light settings from one use to the next. Total pain in the keester. An update to the app could allow you to set defaults - would be nice if they offered that. That would be quite helpful and would bump up this rating for sure. It is sad you have to rely on alternate technology to use some of the features. Adding buttons to the speaker for changing the light display (more than on or off) would be nice so you aren't dependent on using the app. Another downfall is that you can only connect multiple speakers of the same model. All my other Sony speakers will not pair -- even the earlier version of this model. Huge disappointment there. Instructions are quite poor overall. The battery length is not superb, but a nice feature being wireless. It allows me to move around without losing music. So overall, good sound but poor features.

Good but not great speaker for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker definitely gets the job done I was just expecting the bass to be crisp when I got it. Still better than the Beats Pill and a few other speakers I have but for something to bring to work, outdoor get together, friends house or to fill up the room with good quality sound, this will get the job done. I just keep it in my bedroom and link up to it when I’m getting ready or chilling out before sleeping.
