We are truly sorry to hear about the ongoing trouble you are experiencing with the firmware updates failing during download on your HT-A5000, and we apologize for the frustration this is causing. Having the system lock up or fail repeatedly when you're just trying to keep the software current is definitely not the smooth experience we want for you.

We understand your concern regarding the built-in features and the size of the soundbar. Regarding Chromecast, it is primarily integrated into the audio system for high-quality audio casting and streaming music services rather than video playback, which is usually handled directly by a smart TV or external streaming device. For the update issue, sometimes a local network glitch can cause the download to drop, so we highly recommend trying a manual USB update using a flash drive as an alternative way to bypass the network download entirely.
