The sound is better when using a Roku as the streaming device but then loose the continence of the integrated solution. Wish the TV input sounded as good as the bluetooth connection….

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess I'm the outlier that you always see in reviews, because I bought the soundbar, along with the sub and new updated rear speakers - and found the whole experience to be a huge disappointment. This seems to be a case of style over substance; it has all the connections, streaming, wifi, etc. you could want, and I got it primarily because it has more than one HDMI input - but the sound itself (you know, the most important thing with a speaker) is just plain average. I tried everything, from virtual height engine to spatial to manually upping the sound levels on each speaker to using the different sound modes. The sound from the rear speakers is practically non-existent, save for a few motorcycles or crashes here and there in movies. The center speaker overpowers everything else on the bar itself, even when turned down, and the sound from the tiny speaker is very tinny and hollow. And yes the voice assistant was off. Atmos effects are next to nothing but I expected that going in (you can't bounce sound off the ceiling, period). The sub is fine although nothing special. I owned the previous Sony soundbar (Z9F) and frankly this one doesn't sound that much better, and certainly not for the price. This is the 2nd soundbar in a row I've returned (B&W Panorama 3 being the other anemic performer) so it's probably just me. I just wish I hadn't listened to all the hype because for the price they're charging, this product is simply not worth it.

Depending on the input signal and the sound mode setting, surround sound processing may not work effectively. The surround effect may be subtle, depending on the program or disc.

Sound becomes mute for no reason for 10-15 seconds

I’m an electronic engineer who worked with audio/video products. I would expected the soundbar will be flawless considering that I’m pairing with a brand new Sony A80J TV. However, at random times, the sound will just stop for about 10-15 seconds. The image is still playing, but no sound. I made sure to use an ultracertified HDM2.1 8K cable connected to eARC at both ends. Tried to replace with another brand cable, and still the same issue. Tried to reset the soundbar and TV and use only default settings but it didn’t solve the issue either. To be sincere, this seems a software issue as the hardware appears to be solid. Of course, I updated the software for both TV, soundbar and sub. Everything is as it should be. I called Sony support and it was the most useless experience I had in my life. They just go through some basic steps (unplug TV, reset soundbar), and ask to wait a few more days. Then, if you call again they provide more basic steps and ask to wait more few days. I think you can see the pattern here. They just want you to give up calling as no real world troubleshooting is made. The sound doesn’t seem to skip without an HT-A700, so if you are in the fence about buying the HT-A7000 soundbar just wait one year until Sony either fixed the issues and you can read more reviews. The TV speakers have much better quality than other TVs, and using them as center speakers for HT-A7000 works very well — except when it doesn’t. Sony, please do better quality control of your software releases!! This should not happen if someone is buying only Sony products

We'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experience for you. In the meantime, please Install the speaker system, the optional rear speakers, and the subwoofer at a distance of 1.5 m (5 ft) or more from a wireless LAN router, etc.
It may be improved by setting [Setup] - [Advanced Settings] - [Speaker Settings] - [Wireless Speaker Settings] - [Wireless Playback Quality] to [Connection].
Set [Setup] - [Advanced Settings] - [Speaker Settings] - [Wireless Speaker Settings] - [RF Channel] to [Off], then set to [On].
If a device that generates electromagnetic radiation, such as a wireless LAN device or a microwave oven is nearby, move the speaker system away from the device.

I was happy before but I’m happier now. If you have the means, I’d say go straight to the top model. This sound bar sounds and looks amazing. High quality construction. You do need to get up to at least 50% volume to even begin with which is my only gripe.

If you feel like the audio is very low, please try these steps to troubleshoot the issue.
-Press (volume) + on the remote control and check the volume level.
-Press (muting) or (volume) + on the remote control to cancel the muting function.
-Make sure the input source is selected correctly. You should try other input sources by pressing the input select button on the remote control (TV/HDMI1/HDMI2/ANALOG/USB/BLUETOOTH).
-Make sure that the connectors are firmly inserted.
-When you play content compatible with copyright protection technology (HDCP), sound may not be output from the speaker system.
-Change the setting of [Setup] - [Advanced Settings] - [HDMI Settings] - [HDMI Signal Format] - [HDMI IN 1]/[HDMI IN 2].
