    Readout goes to HELLO then freezes. Drops connection in the middle of playing and reboots to frozen HELLO screen. Sony has offered to have it sent in for repair (Kudos but for this price it should be hot swapped). Best Buy said to contact store manager for swap but offers NO WAY to contact store manager unless I drive there 100 miles away. Yes, it is impossible to contact the actual store where I bought this for any help and the online BB support people just say "go to the store where you bought it!"

    Not terribly loud. Lost all audio after only 4 days of light usage. The center speaker bypass to my Sony A95K made the dialog sound undefined and unclear. It would cause occasional dropped frames with 4K 120 pass through from the Sony PS5. Wanted to love it, but for 999? It MUST be reliable at the very least.

Some speakers may not output sound depending on the SOUND FIELD and sound source settings combination. By pressing IMMERSIVE AE or SOUND FIELD to turn on the surround effect, the speaker system up-mixes audio signals, and sound is output from all speakers. HT-A7000: On the remote control, press the IMMERSIVE AE button, and select Immersive Audio Enhancement: On.

    Bought this brand new today at a store here in St. Louis. Got it home and it has the Hello frozen bug that I have been reading about. I thought I was going crazy so I tried on my other Sony tv and the same Issue. Unplugged and replugged multiple times, tried the power button and minus button reset thing with no luck so I took it back to the store I bought it to exchange it. They were out so I went to another store to swap it out. Got the new one home and the EXACT same problem with it. This is pretty unacceptable Sony for your premium sound system. I have the subwoofer too but I haven’t even been able to try it out because the bars are bricked right out of the box. You clearly have a firmware issue going on and the quality control is not on point. I’m going to attempt one more exchange but if this happens a third time I’m giving up. I’m so disappointed right now

In the meantime, depending on the input signal and the sound mode setting, surround sound processing may not work effectively. The surround effect may be subtle, depending on the program or disc. Install the speaker system, the optional rear speakers and subwoofer at a distance of 1.5 m (5 ft) or more from a wireless LAN router, etc. It may be improved by changing the direction or the antenna’s angle of the wireless LAN router.     Comparison with Sonos and Bose

    Compared to Sonos Arc and Bose this one performed low both on its sound quality and clarity. The Sony subwoofer doesn’t have bass when compared to sonos and Bose. Tested it connecting to a Sony OLED tv as well as Bluetooth Spotify from iPhone. This one needs a lot of improvement.

    I just got a brand new a7000 from an authorized dealer and I looked through the reviews to see if anybody else had similar issues. Plugged it in for the first time and I'm stuck at the hello message on the LCD screen. I tried power Cycling it by unplugging, holding the power and - on the bar...still nothing. When I go to the proper input on my TV it just shows no signal. My first one was damaged in transit so this is my second and I'm having an issue. Considering how expensive this sound bar is, I'm surprised that so many of the same issue. I just bought the subwoofer as well but now I can't use it.

If the soundbar got stuck on "Hello" screen and you're unable to operate the unit, please try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

      Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) from the wall outlet (mains), and then reconnect after several minutes.
      If the speaker system still does not operate properly, reset the speaker system. To reset the unit, Press and hold the (power) and – (volume) on the bar speaker for more than 5 seconds.

    Failed after a few weeks and canont return

    I purchase this soundbar and it did not work at all. It just said "Hello" and did not accept any input. I exchanged it in-store for another one. The new one worked well for around 3 weeks and is now rebooting every 10-15 minutes so it is unusable. It failed just after the two-week return period so now I have the hassle of dealing with Sony support. This is a piece of junk. Searching online shows that many people are having similar issues. I am going to buy a Bose soundbar instead.

    Open box marked excellent was missing cables and remote bestbuy customer service was of no help. When we asked the rep went inside and gave us a remote that didn’t even belong to this item! Soundbar itself is functional.

    BRICKED after five months of use.

    Soundbar worked wonderfully, as it should have for being Sony's top of the line model. Unfortunately, it randomly started producing popping static noises like it suddenly blew out. I followed the system reset instructions as directed and upon doing so, the system was now permanently stuck at "HELLO" and no number of attempts have changed or fixed this. It literally cannot work now, as the remote isn't recognized and the TV doesn't recognize any inputs from HDMI devices plugged into the soundbar. A crippling flaw from Sony's flagship device....

    Extremely harsh VOC's! A week after installation we are all experiencing burning eyes, coughing, dry throat. We have had the windows and fan running in the room for a week now...still no change. Sony indicates this is normal. I have been involved designing and selling electronics for over 50 years and have NEVER experienced outgassing chemicals like this!! The soundbar menu is not displayed on the tv and no backlight for the remote. Dialog sounds muffled.

    sounds good but.......The RS5 rears speakers which incorporate a built in battery for convenience is a downfall of the system. Even with speakers plugged into electric 24/7 batteries are used and battery indicator will blink indicating low charge. This means you need the battery for operation and once battery fails which will happen, the $600 speakers will become useless.
