I previously had a Samsung soundbar with a subwoofer, but after I replaced it with this Sony soundbar, subwoofer and rear speakers I look forward to watching a movie in my media room again. I have even gone back to watching movies I had previously seen to enjoy the fresh new sound that is produced by this soundbar. To begin with, it is extremely easy to set up. Depending on how you have your tv set up, you can either place the soundbar on your tv stand or you can mount the soundbar under the tv as it comes with wall mounting brackets. It also comes with an HDMI cable to connect it to your tv and a remote to make the necessary adjustments as you calibrate your system. If you purchase the subwoofer and rear speakers that go with this soundbar, you won't be disappointed as it completes the full movie theatre experiences. All of it is very easy to set up and connect and sync up to the subwoofer and rear speakers. You can also connect your gaming system to this subwoofer using another HDMI cable or opitcal digital cable. You can also listen to music using the bluetooth feature. The sound that this soundbar and system produces is very high quality, you will not be disappointed with this purchase. If you are looking to replace an old system, then I highly recommend this Sony soundbar, it will make you enjoy watching movies again.

Best Sound Bar Yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this sound bar along with the Sony SA SW5 Subwoofer and the SA RS 3S rear speakers. This sound bar does an amazing job with the dimensional effects with Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 reality audio. I have a sound bar that is Atmos enabled. That sound bar reproduces the effects but is tonally empty. This sound bar has the fullest, best EQ'd best crossed over (sub included) sound I have heard in a sound bar system. The sound quality this system produces is on the same level as my old school system (high power receiver, 4 large towers, matching center and 500w sub) with the added bonus of great spatial effects. The sound bar has 2 HDMI inputs and an HDMI E-ARC to the TV. There are also Bluetooth and mini plug audio connections. The hookup was quick and easy, HDMIs to my TIVO and UHD/Blu Ray player, USB port and mini plug to Alexa. There is a remote control with one touch controls for many functions. This sound bar passes through UHD video from my TIVO and UHD/Blu Ray player. All of the audio sources I have used have sounded stellar. The streaming services that offer Atmos and Sony 360 Reality Audio sound great on this system as do the master audio recordings. The UHD discs offer theater quality effects. I can't say enough about the sound quality of this system. This truly rivals the sound of high end traditional systems.

Great High End Soundbar
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start out by saying that I was never a huge fan of soundbars. I just didn't think they could complete with traditional surround systems. The convenience was nice, but you just sacrificed too much in sound quality. Well, that is officially an outdated opinion. Soundbars have advanced leaps and bounds in recent years, and this Sony system is a great example. As with most soundbars, setup couldn't be simpler. You simply plug the power cord in, and connect your TVs HDMI to the HDMI input. And you can either use your TV's ARC or eARC functionality to route your components' sound signals, or connect up to 2 components directly to the soundbar. Once you turn it on for the first time, you can run the optimization process, which plays a short series of audio patterns on the speakers to properly set the levels and distance and stuff of the speakers. It's all automated, so it's really simple. But you can go in later and tweak them if you're more into doing these things manually. Overall, if you're somewhat familiar with basic AV component setup, this one is a breeze. Next, the most important part. How does this soundbar actually perform? I was absolutely blown away by how nice this soundbar sounds. First, the sound quality is fantastic. Dialogue is crisp and clear. Action scenes are really where this soundbar shines. I watched a variety of content on it from gunfights and explosions, to car chases, and they all performed really well. The surround experience has the be heard to be truly appreciated. If you get the whole setup with the rear speakers and sound bar, you would swear your listening to a system with 20+ speakers. It really makes it seem like there are speakers all around your room. The upfiring speakers are what really surprised me. I thought that was going to be kind of gimmicky and not make a huge difference, but it really made it sound like I had speakers on my ceiling. I actually do have my regular surround speakers mounted on my ceiling where I was testing this system, and the first tmie I heard it, I had to make sure I was using the right system. That's how well it recreates the sound of height speakers. My one criticism, and you can consider it small or big depending on what is impotant to you in a sound system, is that when you are listening to dialogue, it really does sound like the audio is coming out of a box sitting under your TV. For any kind of action scenes, everything is so immersive that you don't think about where speakers are and all that. But when it's just people talking, it is very obvious, almost distracting, where the audio is coming from. I really wish it just sounded a bit more natural. This could just be because I've gotten used to the way my other system sounds, but either way, it was definitely noricable, and probably what will keep me from using this as my main system.

Sony has consistently made very good products and this soundbar and total sound system live up to the Sony name. Set up was extremely easy, a couple plugs and you’re off! This soundbar hits all the highs and lows. With different direction facing speakers throughout the bar, you get a great surround sound. Listening to streamed music via Bluetooth is also amazing. I like to crank up the sound and really feel my music and really love the immersive sound from this. Add the subwoofer and rear speakers for the whole sound system and you will be absolutely blown away.

Otherwise it’s a great sound bar especially when paired with a Bravia TV that can enhance as a center channel. For subs the sw 3 is more than enough tbh. Be sure to verify bundles when purchasing. Sound overall is good and it can enhance voice specifically for those movies that have a lot of dialogue and it seems as if the sound people were on break.

Nearly rivals my towers

I love the sound you get from the big ol speakers but you gotta have room for all those speakers. Taking up the space in my man cave is fine, but my wife wanted a system that's a bit more inconspicuous. I've tried multiple sound bars and HTIB's and none really impressed me. Tinny or boxy sounds, subs that just couldn't hide themselves well. While my wife was fine with it I just couldn't stand it! Sony's A7000 soundbar just cured my ailment. The sound stage is incredible with a near full range of sound that seriously feels like it's wrapping around you, even if you're a bit off the sweet spot - this is my first Atmos set up and I'm impressed. Vocals come out sharp withtout being harsh or tinny - I hate high pitched sounds. Music (though this system will see little of it) can fill a 700sqft living room like it's a party. The bad part is that there's no dedicated EQ, just presets. It sounds great, but some fine tuning could make it sound incredible to my ears. My biggest gripe with the soundbar is that there's only 2 HDMI inputs. It really limits what you can hook up at any given time if you're like us have two gaming consoles, a streaming media player, and a PC all connected. I'll end up having to get an HDMI switch in the future. I didn't bother with using the wifi capabilities of the soundbar since there's no need. I have streaming devices to take care of that. If there's a firmware worth upgrading to, then I'll enable it in the future. After years of using full sized speakers, I think I've finally heard a bar that almost converted me. The limited HDMI ports and the lack of an EQ make it more for family room use than man room duties.

Amazing sound, if you can get the synch right

Depending on what streaming platform I am on, its either perfect or uncanny valley of subtly late audio. I have spent the last hour trying to fix it. What is annoying is I have a Sony Bravia TV, and Sony soundbar yet it still has synch issues. I am watching youtube tv (Google product) and that has issues. I will probably work it out eventually, but this would have been 5 stars, but the synch would get 0 stars. What irks me, is I am using Sony TV with Sony sound bar, and it is a google tv, using youtubetv to watch shows, and it still is way off. The only solution for latency in the settings is to ADD time, I need to subtract time… Not happy. I am sure I can fix it at some point, but I shouldn’t have to do tech support after paying almost 5k for tv and sound system. I would recommend this if you can rectify the synch issues. I give 10 out of 10 watching Top Gun Maverick. Just has issues with different streaming platforms.

But after 2 months my brand new X85j stopoed picking up the sound bar on hdmi 3 ARC! Tge home screen for the soundbar wont pop up and sound wont play through the sound bar . But says hello! ive switched out hdmi cords! Still nothing! But when i connect to bluetooth it works perfect! Idk if its my tv or the sound bar but both products are only 2 months old! And i cant figure out how to fix it! Ive reset tv 3 times as well and the sound bar and still nothing! Anyone know how to fix this issue? Or shoukd i just return and exchange
