    THIS is the future - no more ugly soundbars!

    Amazing home theater system and way WAY better than any premium sound bar. I've tried the Samsung 950 and the A9 gives me more of that surround 3D feel. You MUST get the optional SW5 subwoofer to keep up with the Samsung 950A. I bought this to use with my Hisense ultra short throw L9G because a soundbar is not practical for placement purposes - the A9 blew my mind! We sit about 10 feet from the screen and the 4 speakers are placed about 12 feet away at the 4 corners and that bubble of sound is real! The best part is the easy calibration - less than a minute and we're up and running watching movies.

    The sound is incredible! Once it was connected with my Sony 85" X95J, WOW! The wireless sound is off the chart. I've never had a drop off or cut out. It's got EVERYTHING you need and works with the most advanced sound profiles to date. 4k movies off apps are better than being in the theater. It'll rock the walls! I have the SA5 sub woofer and it's now really ridiculous. As a lay person, this, with the tv is worth every penny spent!

    Amazing sound when it works. But since this system requires "line of sight" and not wifi, this create a huge issue for the system working correctly. The speakers would cut in and out with no sound in the gaps. I spent 10 minutes to one hour every single day to re-calibrate and get the speaking working correctly. Then after waiting for an appointment to get a Geek Squad person to look at it, it was recommended to take it back and get a Sonos, which is exactly what I did.

      While we are glad to hear that you are happy with the sound quality of the HT-A9, we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing connection issues with the Home Theater System. One of the possible solutions to the issue is by updating the firmware of the Home Theater System for optimum performance and improve stability of the wireless speaker connection. The software update improves the general performance of the unit and includes key features, applications, and bug fixes.

      If the issue still occurs, we recommend setting the RF channel setting to ON or OFF by following these steps [Setup] - [Advanced Settings] - [Speaker Settings] - [Wireless Speaker Settings] - [RF Channel] to [Off], then set to [On].

    The soundbar Killer

    The soundbar killer, Sony has reinvented the wheel.As other reveiwers have said tinker with the settings get the sound to were you like it. For those that don't have a Sony tv to use a a center channel/ the phantom center is great. Thats the best thing about this system you dont here sound coming from the speakers, but all around you.

    Just an FYI, you need eARC for Dolby Atmos sound quality. Amazing audio quality when it works. I bought this right when it came out and will likely wait longer to purchase new Sony products in the future. Having to toggle RF channel on a daily basis is annoying given the price of the product.

Please make sure your unit has the latest firmware by performing a software update: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/sound-bars-home-theater-systems-sound-bars-surround-speakers/ht-a9/software/00272362. The updates improve the general performance of the unit and resolve any possible software-related issues. Please disconnect the cables that are connected to the TV and the speaker system, then connect them firmly again. Disconnect the AC power cords (mains leads) of the TV and the speaker system from the AC outlets (mains), then connect them again to isolate the issue.

    HT-A9 unstable wireless conbections

    My configuration is with Sony XR-77A80J OLED TV and SA-SW5 Sub. Every time I turn on the system if I want a stable speaker connection I need to rerun the RF channel optimization set up and it usually works pretty good for the day. But 15-20 feet distance for wireless should have been easy to maintain a connection. Lots of minor bugs that I would expect to be addressed with updates such as; - Turning on the TV with Alexa works 99% of the time, but only 50% does the home theater turn on with the TV. - I have the 300w SA-SW5 sub, but seriously might as well be a 5w speaker. - Speaker placement, line of site obsticals such as chairs will disrupt sound field optimization during setup? Really? why not just require speaker placement be above the line of sight obstacles? No mention. I really wish this system worked properly as it looks fabulous and very conservative. looking back, I wish I had gone with someone else. I would not have purchased this system even at half the price, maybe not for 1/4 the price. potentially great system that just doesn't work.

    Super expensive with constant drop out to match

    When it works, it sounds decent but in the last 3 weeks, I'd never been able to finish a single movie without multiple dropouts. Switched to a Nakamichi 9.2.4 system and sound is amazing and dropouts are gone. Although the Sony has more features and gimmicks, the Nakamichi has no thrills and outperforms it by a mile.

    Worst Speakers ever

    HT-A9 speakers are just really terrible. The constant drop outs just make listening to any movie, music or tv show an utterly painful experience. I just feel like I’ve been cheated by Sony. There’s no way these speakers should ever have been brought to market. Especially at this price point. Google HT-A9 dropouts. I’ve made sure I had the most uptodate firmware. I’ve done a factory reset on the system. I’ve tried the optimization which will work for a few minutes and then the dropouts return. Nothing seems to work. Terribly frustrating. Do not even consider buying these speakers. Utter waste of time and money.
