This thing rocks, is it as loud as a namikacki no, but when you have a huge high ceiling room where TV is above mantle and sound bar sit to high to be effective doesnt matter. The imersive sound is so good it fill room and makes it sound like you are in the inviroment for whatever you are watching. Side note also get the sub it makes a huge difference we went with rhe 300w version and it absolutly makes our room a movie theater

Great system so far. Some dropouts, but switching the RF on and off fixes is, but still frustrating during a movie. Atmos movies can be very immersive.. my daughter’s head did a 360 during one movie when the sound moved around the room.. it’s been fun rewatching favorite movies again, but I’m still apprehensive every time I turn it on because of the dropouts.

Excellent product and service. I have never had complaints about purchasing anything from Best Buy. The speakers deliver great sound and are an excellent value addition to my living room. They are easy to set up and of exceptionally good quality.

I have been thoroughly impressed by the simplicity of the set up but more importantly with the “sound bubble” this system is able to create. Sony has not included a subwoofer in this system but if you read/watch reviews, do yourself a favor and pick up the SA-SW5 to complete the home theatre experience. I highly recommend this system for its flexibility in set up, overall immersion and aesthetic.

I came from a traditional 7.1 HT system, and this setup absolutely kills it in sound quality. Like the previous reviewer stated, you have to spend some time testing different setting to find the profile you like best, but once you do - WOW! There are the goosebumps you hoped for from the system. The SW5 sub is more than adequate for my room, I keep it at 7 or 8 out of 12. It is weird that Sony does not support Atmos in games on PS5 or on any of PS5’s streaming apps. This system pairs better with an XBox Series X or a top-end Roku than Sony’s own flagship. This will set up 6 new Wi-Fi devices on your network, so take your router’s capacity into consideration.

Topshelf sound quality , not your traditional surround sound / bar… I did go all out with best subwoofer to compliment this system. It’s worth the money although your going to pay to get it home,..couldn’t wait for sale or next system,,,it’s a step into receiving sound from all around with a nice looking quad system sleek wireless ( except for power) and flexible placement. Very few disconnects as reported undone reviews . I do have a huge open floor plan with few obstacles but each does let at a different height. I am also a Geek Squad member do tech services always there for any help. If you can get it , jump on it,,, I add lid own Sony XRA90J tv which brings it all together.

Although this system provided transformative sound with just four speakers; I could deal with having to troubleshoot connection issues every couple of hours in order to get it to work. If these connectivity issues are resolved with the second generation I will be sure to revisit this product, but as it stands I had to return it sadly.

LOVE the product. A request that I think will resonate with many, like me, who own this system with the SW5 sub. Currently there is not an option to upgrade beyond one sub connected to this system. There are many well documented reasons why 2 subs are better than one. I'll give perhaps an unexpected one for this system - the SW5 is so radical it hops/vibrates/moves when pushed - more notably on hard surfaces. Two subs would assist with this phenomenon by promoting a lowered gain necessary for each sub (in conjunction with other factors). Incorporating this capability would promote good will and lead to greater customer satisfaction & retention by reducing the need to seek such performance from another product. Coming from a Sony ht a7000 with rears and sub it’s a big improvement in every way except for the center the center on the a7000 is still better but that’s expected since it’s a physical speaker and not a phantom like the a9 however it still sounds really good and gets the job done dolby atmos sounds alive and the top speakers actually work I wasn’t able to hear them at all on the a7000 if your looking for a easy to setup ht system that sounds amazing this is it. As for the audio drop outs it is still a issue but only if your router is near your ht a9 box I recently moved and when I did I decided to place my router closer to the tv now within 3ft of the a9 box and since doing that I’ve had audio drop outs only seems to happen when playing 4k blu rays but when it happens it’s pretty bad so keep that in mind if your router is near. Excellent quality of sound and easy setup. Amazed at the atmos and mimic of the 12 speaker setup with just 4 speakers. The speakers themselves can put out alot of sound and add the SW5 sub and it rumbles my whole house

These perform and sound nearly as well as the newer Bravia Quads! Even better, they do not require an internet connection, Sony account, and mobile app to be able to use them. Just plug them in, and everything can be controlled/setup with the included remote. I've heard that the Bravia Quads are less prone to dropouts, but I never experienced that issue with my HT-A9, though there isn't much WiFi noise/traffic where I live. The sound stage with these is amazing, even when you can't set them up in the ideal locations. I have my rear channels positioned a bit off-center and one is further back than the other. But the room correction seems to have handled that just fine, and I still get a great surround effect from them. The virtual height channels are working great too (I have 8ft ceilings)!

This is one of the best for an immersive experience. I did experienced the audio cutting out at the beginning and the culprit was my router, it went away after relocating. We have Sony A9G and wished it could wireless paired. I highly recommend a sub as I don’t believe it goes low enough for those in movie rumbles. It can benefit from a center channel but at no time was it difficult to hear the dialogue. This has without a doubt enhanced our family movie experience and we enjoy every movie and rewatched others.

I was a bit nervous about purchasing this due to all the negative comments regarding audio dropouts but thankfully, when I received mine, an update was ready to be installed for the known audio drop issues. The setup was literally plug and play - everything auto-connected and I have not had any audio drop issues. The hub is connected via Ethernet and is ~3ft away from my router for anyone interested in my setup. The sound quality is pretty amazing especially when paired with the SW5 sub. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was the price and I wish the atmos effects were a bit more pronounced. All in all, a solid system that works well with the A80J; the added native audio settings are appreciated (Sonys perk of keeping it within their ecosystem).

I have 8k in audio gear, so when i got this i did not expect it to impress me...and I was right, but wrong in the same vein...It WOW'ed me, without performance,...whether playing music off Youtube or playing dolby atmos from the "Greatest Showman" 4k Blu-ray, the unit never failed to impress...simple to install, and operate...and I found that the SA-SW3 was good enough to fill in the low end...in my mid sized room...my only con is that it would be nice if they made it with the speakers in matte black...(maybe it will happen in the coming years)

Fantastic! You MUST get a subwoofer with these (not technically, but for your audio to be decent) but with the subwoofer the surround is amazing. I replaced another Atmos setup and have multiple people get confused that there is no center channel. You really do think it's there. The surround effects in dolby atmos demo clips are the best of any setup I've had, rivaling dedicated speaker setups.

This is the best system you can buy without the hassle of wiring all the room, the speakers auto calibrates each other, takes minutes to setup, sound like you actually have a lot of speakers around the room, if you have a Sony Tv you can use the tv as the central speaker, you can add a sub buffer just to make it sound louder, I will go for the bigger one if you own a big room. Great system for the price

When it works: Phenomenal Otherwise, mildly annoying at times. PS5 owners, after no help, here's what to do: Ps5 audio settings at 7.1, AV Receiver, and if you do DTS, or DOLBY you must go into Ht-a9 menu and adjust to the same, otherwise no luck. Sound drops not too often, but common enough to be annoying. Outside of all that for a several thousand, when it works, you hear every dime. It's truly amazing. But the negatives, for a premium product, hurt the experience.

This system sounds amazing and the set up was a piece of cake. It may not be “top of the line” for some of you audiophiles, but for the average home user who just wants there movies to sound great it is perfect. AND WIRELESS! I’ve been wanting wireless surround for a long time. Bought the 200w sub from Sony and couldn’t be happier.

The concept is excellent, but wireless stability for speaker connections is buggy and unreliable. The sound quality, when the system works, is exceptional. However, the wireless instability of the speakers ruins the overall experience and enjoyment of the system. Limited options to troubleshoot and or manually configure wireless channels at this price point is also unacceptable. Sony will have users turn off RF optimization and then turn back on so the system can attempt to use a better RF channel. This may or may not work and if it does works, the wireless stability will break down in a relative short time. It is evident Sony needs to reevaluate the wireless chipset and firmware it uses in this product, The hardware is clearly impacted from cost reductions in components.

Great sound but still needs some refining, especially for the price. The wireless can be finicky some times and at this price some stands should be included in my opinion.
