Wow - I'm surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as I was tired of the lame output of my Sony TV's speakers. I wasn't expecting much for $199. Much to my suprise, it sounds awesome. Connecting via bluetooth for my iPhone music is even better sound. I would highly recommend. The subwoofer has good bass. Not too much, and not too little. Nothing like my 15" Klipsch subwoofer in another room where bass is plentiful. The install is simple. I never opened the manual.

Excellent soundbar - would recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great soundbar. I looked at some Klipsch models that were higher priced before testing this one, and the audio quality is superior to the higher priced products. I use it with the optical audio and control volume with my Apple TV and the Siri remote.

Posted .Hi Rafiu, Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your HTS350 soundbar. To ensure optimal performance with the subwoofer, please follow the steps below:
Press SW + on the remote control to increase the subwoofer volume.
Make sure that the status indicator on the subwoofer is lit in green or orange.
Set the night mode to off.
If the input sources contain very little bass sound components (i.e., a TV broadcast), the sound from the subwoofer may be difficult to hear. Play the built-in demonstration music by following the steps below and check that the sound is output from the subwoofer.
-Press and hold the (TV) button on the Bar Speaker for 5 seconds.
The built-in demonstration music is played.
-Press the (TV) button again.
The built-in demonstration music is canceled and the Sound Bar returns to the previous status.

5 Stars for Quality of sound and Price Point
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, what this soundbar is. The Sony HT-S350 is a 2.1 channel configuration with S-Force Technology that allows it to simulate a 5.1 channel system. Has HDMI Arc output with optical input and Bluetooth connectivity. It has 7 different sound setups with a distinct setting such as Cinema sound, Sports, news, music, etc. Has the ability to get clear dialog will also boosting the background sound for more clarity in dialog without losing the thumping surround sound. Now, this is its limitation. If you don’t have a TV with an Arc HDMI connection then your solid. If not then you will be using the HDMI and an optical cable. The device also allows you to also connect your TV wirelessly for a wire-free look. (I did not test the wireless TV connection for this review) Now I have a 5.1 system as well so I was interested to hear the S-Force in play. I had set up the Arc setting with a Roku box and a Samsung 4k player and a PS4 Pro. The Roku with Vudu played very nice and I did like the Cinema setting. I played with the Sub a bit to adjust the sound level to Avengers Affinity War with great results. I wanted to hear it how the levels worked during scenes where there was a bit of action and dialog so the scene with Tony Stark, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Dr. Banner (less the Hulk) and the Children of Thanos, and the sound was great. Please tell your neighbors because the subwoofer can really pound the ground if you want it to. Play station also was very realistic. For some reason, I preferred the Cinema setting over Game Studio but I will have to check it out more as I get used to it. All in all the speaker for its price point of $279.99 is really a great deal. I would use this in a smaller game room or a master bedroom as its size and power seem more suited for this.

Sounds great when it actually connects..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality is great and its pretty easy to set up. only problem is it won't always stay connected to my current tv. I figured since its a sony sound bar and a sony tv, it would work even better, but this is not the case. I got too lazy to set it back up after moving, but when it works it works great

Great sound, very immersive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony HT-S350 2.1 channel sound bar has exceeded my expectations for a soundbar this size. Don't let its small-size fool you, this sounds really good in the size of room that I have which is a 15 x 20 foot room. Sony's technology really immerses you in the movie you're watching or the game you're playing. Very easy to set up which is a plus.

It just works!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony has been one of the leaders in sound bars for some time and this latest release may be the last “vanilla” soundbar before they switch to a “smart” enabled version. The HT-S350 was simple to setup using the HDMI cable connected to the TV’s HDMI CEC ARC input. This allows other devices connected to the TV to also send 2.1 Audio to your soundbar and also auto-wake it when the TV turns on. Must-have feature if you don’t use an AV receiver. There is no LED display but just 2 simple blue lights that show you it’s turned on. The sound was actually excellent, loud and clear with good bass. 350W for a 2.1 System is a lot of oomph. I use this system in my downstairs home gym. As for negatives, Sony will have to jump on that smart enabled Alexa or Google soon for a 2.1 System as it greatly increases functionality since a 2.1 doesn’t do a great job as a main sound bar. No Atmos either. My final gripe is it didn’t even include an HDMI cable even though the instructions recommended connecting over HDMI CEC!!! In any case it is still an excellent system especially in smaller rooms or dorms or smaller apartments.

Great Quality for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ended up swapping my LG 300 watt soundbar for this one and i don't regret it. They are both originally priced at 279.99 but the sound quality that comes Sony is definitely a little bit better or at least more of what i am used to "hearing." They always add a little deeper bass to their subwoofers which comes into appreciation when you play music from your phone. Granted, my main sound system is a $1500 7.1.2 soundbar and it is killer, but this one fits the bill for a small room no problem. Only downside is that it has 2 inputs (HDMI and optical) not that you need more anyway but some people prefer aux or even usb. would definitely recommend.

Attractive 2.1ch Basic Soundbar + Bluetooth
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony HT-S350 is a basic 2.1 channel Soundbar. It does not possess Smart features; The Soundbar itself is a curved, attractive speaker. It offers Virtual Surround Technology: "S-Force Pro", but not the Dolby Atmos, or DTS surround found in the higher end Sony & other competitive units. Sony offers some of the most powerful & innovative Soundbars in the industry, but they cost accordingly. This is a good soundbar for applications where modest, clear sound is desired with no frills or options. The subwoofer produces mid - low frequencies, but without the desirable "punch!" delivered by the higher end soundbars. An optical cable is included to connect the soundbar to the optical output jack on your TV. The power supply is built into the soundbar, so there is a 120 volt power cord to plug in the wall, without a power cube. There are plenty of LED indicators that show volume, sub level, input, etc. These indicators can be switched on/off by the included remote. The subwoofer bass output, when turned up full, was less than I prefer. If you select "Music" it increases the subwoofer output slightly higher than in the "Movies" mode, so I left it on "Music" for the entire test. CONCLUSION: The Sony HT-S350 will improve sound from tiny factory speakers on the back of a TV mounted on drywall. The soundbar audio is directed forward, and the difference in sound compared with "TV sound" is very positive. If you can justify spending 2X to 3X the cost of this speaker, however, you will achieve a dramatic improvement in bass output, dynamic range & surround sound positioning. This attractive soundbar is a breeze to connect with only 1 optical cable, and can be wall mounted with onboard slotted holes.

Sony had come out with better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At the beginning of the year, Sony announced that it will release two new soundbars namely the HT-X8500 and the HT-S350. But unlike the newer soundbars that is Wi-Fi connected and has either Alexa or Google enabled, Sony decided to come out with two “dumb” soundbars. Perhaps a respite from everything internet related, these soundbars may be the solution. This review will focus on the lower end HT-S350 and let’s see if it lives up to its promise. The Sony HT-S350 soundbar measures 35 1/2” x 2 5/8” x 3 1/2” and is ideal for TVs measuring 40” and above. It not heavy at five lbs. It is wirelessly connected to a sub-woofer measuring 7 1/2” x 15 1/8” x 15 3/8” and weighing in at 17 lbs. And being “dumb” speakers (as mentioned earlier), there is no need for an internet connection. Combined, this soundbar system has rated capacity of 320 watts. Connecting the soundbar to your TV is pretty much straightforward. You can use the provided optical cable or use an HDMI cable to connect to an ARC enabled HDMI port. There are no longer legacy ports such as co-axial or RCA ports anymore in this soundbar. Pairing the soundbar to the sub-woofer is basically plug-and-play and the initial connection between the soundbar and the sub-woofer took around one minute. Using the soundbar with my Toshiba TV, I had no problem regarding the audio. However, when I used a 4K HDMI cable, I could not hear any audio at all. Oddly enough, I have audio using the same TV and cable using my old Sony receiver and a Bose soundbar. Though I am using this as a secondary home theater system so the optical cable is fine for me, a non-functioning ARC may be a deal breaker for some. The Sony HT-S350 while only a 2.1 system boasts of the S-Force Pro technology which enables it to simulate a 5.1 surround effect. And to further enhance the sound other audio modes are found in the included remote. These include cinema, news, voice, night, game, news, sports, and standard. However, upon using the soundbar I was honestly underwhelmed with the audio output. Even with the supposed S-Force technology the audio lacked spatial sound. To be fair to the product I decided to burn-in the unit with some of my reference movies which included John Wick, The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Behind Enemy Lines. However, the spatial sound was lacking. But this being a 2.1 system and having been used to 5.1 and recently upgrading to 7.1.2, I maybe expecting too much from this soundbar. But unfortunately, the sound overall was still muddled with highs seemingly lacking and the mids really being muddled. The sub-woofer even though powered did not have that oomph found even in passive 5.1 systems. The sub-woofer only provides a warm feel but really lacks punch. Overall, it really sounds like you’re just using a pair of computer speakers although louder. And it's also disappointing that this doesn't even have separate bass and treble controls so listening to music via Bluetooth is terribly flat. I have four different Sony Bluetooth speakers of various sizes and they all have richer sound but less volume obviously. I have been a long time Sony fan especially with its audio products, but I really can’t say much about the HT-S350. It generally works (save the ARC functionality for me). But I am expecting more from this product, I have listened to other Sony soundbars in this class and they seem to have better performance.

Good upgrade, needs visual confirmation of setting
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality, compared to tv speakers, is great. Very easy to set up. Bluetooth works great. The biggest drawback is there is no confirmation on which EQ setting you are on or what level the subwoofer is set. Would recommend to someone who wants a functioning low cost audio upgrade.
