1- Try the Sound Field Button: Press the SOUND FIELD button on your remote to enhance the surround sound effect
2- Adjust the Bass: Use the BASS + button on the remote control to increase the bass level and achieve a richer sound.

This is just right. I have the Subwoofer next to my chair in the living room. Plus we have a 17' ceiling in the living room. Cathedral style. Go Sony. You'll love it. Plus, go Best Buy for Electronics not other stores. The sales person's are the most knowledgeable than the constant turn around of employees in other stores.
