You can really hear the clarity difference from Dts 7.1 and Dolby Atmos. Dts x sound ( their Atmos version) sounds just as good. Overall I was pleased with my purchase

And the vertical surround feature actually does a decent job of imitating speakers from the ceiling. For the price, it would have been nice if Sony included the rear speakers which cost an additional $350!

Not as dynamic as a 5.1 or 7.1 (obvious) and the independent subwoofer is not as bass thumping as I would like (duuah) but it holds up to a good beating every now and again.

Best Atmos Sounbar I’ve seen

It has clear vocals and a decent Atmos effect. Even the subwoofer was point on without being overwhelming. Other Atmos soundbars in this price range either sacrificed voice clarity or were just downright not as good overall sound wise.

Overall would have been happy with this system but when pairing with its rear speakers, the audio began cutting in and out at random. But in a small space, it was perfect (i.e. small living room, no vaulted ceilings) I tried placing the subwoofer in areas throughout the living room to maximize the immersion experience but in the end I upgraded to the HT-ST5000. I was happy with this system for about a year and would definitely recommend this but without using the rear speakers.

We'd like to help troubleshoot the issue. Please try some of these solutions below if the sound skips on the soundbar:
- If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a
microwave oven in use, locate the system apart from it.
- If there is an obstacle between the main unit and the rear speaker, move or remove it.
- Locate the main unit and the rear speaker as close as possible.
- Switch the network connection of the TV or Blu-ray Disc player from wireless to wired.

Very nice sound with voice boost.

The main reason I bought this is because of the voice boost without boosting the background noise. I like to watch a lot of sports and some of the games they have the crowd noise so loud (compared to the announcers) I just would not watch the game or listen to the radio broadcast when I could. This certainly makes a difference. I would have gave 5 stars, but it didn't have any bass and treble adjustments. An extra voice boost (it has two) would have been even better. My granddaughter and husband really liked the sound when It was on a movie.

The HT-Z9F features customizable speaker settings where you can set the speaker distance from 0 ft to 33 ft for much richer sound quality. You can raise the level of the rear speakers 12 steps on the remote and also an additional 6 dB via the onscreen menu to help fill out your room better. To enhance your experience we recommend adding the SAZ9R wireless rear speakers.

Very easy to connect to my Sony TV. The only drawback is the rear speakers do not come with it. They cost $300 on top of the high price of this system.

It had no accessories at all, so we just ordered the remote on Amazon and all works really well. The sound is incredible, especially for the price. Best lil bar in town....sound bar that is.

I have a huge vaulted ceiling so the ability to bounce sound to get the 7.1.2 wasn't going to work so I bought this lil guy and am very happy. I had an old school core system with tall fronts large center and bookshelf rears, o and 10 inch sub. Well that was wonderful but far to much system for my living so I bought this soundbar system with matching wireless rears and its perfect. The Atmos is so clean. When there's nothing to hear......it's actually quite! No hissing no popping the sound isn't full vertical sound field but it is taller sounding like the sound is coming from the TV vs under the TV. And I noticed rain, it sound realistic, meaning I don't hear it center focused infront of me, it's to my side or other their it's coming from everywhere. It's discrete it's great when using Bravia tv's so it's usable from one remote. Love it and yes I recommend it.

If the input sources contain very little bass sound components (i.e., a TV broadcast), bass sound may be difficult to hear. Please note that aside from the remote’s 12 step subwoofer adjustment, you can increase the level of your soundbar and subwoofer’s output an additional 6dB if you access the speaker settings in the Graphical User Interface (GUI). It still sounds great. Dialogue is crisp and clean, even in regular mode. But it does have dialogue mode (2 levels) and night mode if needed. Get the optional rear speakers. They rock.

I did have to buy the rear speakers to get what I was looking for. It was a matter of positioning the speakers and turning them on and everything worked fine.
