Buyer beware!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I checked this out in the store and found out that the Sony rep had the rear speakers (that are an additional purchase) set up. I asked if I could hear just the soundbar and sub and he said he would have to unhook a bunch of stuff and his boss wouldn't like that. The remote allowed me to turn down the rear speakers but the Sony rep should have known that. I purchased it and was very displeased with it on lower volume settings. I ended up returning it. However, I gave it three stars because at higher volumes it sounds great! Just dont go off of the way it sounds in the store unless you are going to fork out the extra $.

I hooked the HTZ9F up to my old 2008 Sam's Club 52 inch Bravia via optical cable and watched Raiders of the Lost Ark (the first one). Wow! The dialogue and mid-range are loud and efficient. The bass is clean and low. I loved my OLD Vizio 2.1 sound bar (and still do) but the HTZ9F sounds less a lot cleaner. I also like how the HTZ9F has the voice boost to enhance the center channel dialogue and has a useful remote to control all the important functions. Recently upgraded to the Sony 950G and this bar integrates perfectly. Looking forward to making full use of the eARC connection and "virtual" Dolby Atmos and someday adding the wireless rear speakers (although this bar sounds just fine as is).

Powerful minimalist soundbar

It is small and easy to fit under any TV or monitor; HDMI, AUX, bluetooth and optical connections make it extremely versatile, coupled with independant subwoofer volume control for when you dont need so much "kick". Subwoofer is deceptively powerful and able to give your floors a good shake for an imerssive experience. Aside from the occasional disconnection from the subwoofer and mild distortion at high volumes, this is a solid minimalist soundbar

Please make sure that the software is updated as it includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements. If there is an obstacle between the main unit and the subwoofer, move
or remove it and locate the main unit and the subwoofer as close as possible. Make sure that the BLUETOOTH indicator of the main unit is lit.
Bring this system and the BLUETOOTH device closer together.
If a device that generates electromagnetic radiation, such as a wireless LAN device, other
BLUETOOTH devices, or a microwave oven is nearby, move the device away
from this system.
Remove any obstacle between this system and the BLUETOOTH device, or move this system away from the obstacle.

I walked in Best Buy with no intent to spend more than 300 for a sound bar but as soon as I heard the sound to that thing I was quick to drop 899 plus tax on it no questions asked. The cord it came with is giving me problems, but any other 4k cord is working. Sounds amazing. A bit difficult to go through the menu and know what you need and dont need. Google helps. But 5 stars based upon sound alone.

Was not happy that it had no on screen display. Also there was a major delay when turning up or down the volume through the Sony TV’s ARC connection via HDMI.

Problems maintaining connection to sound bar

When I switch to these channels I have been experiencing numerous disconnects from sound bar sound system. I am able to switch back to TV sound systems. Sometimes I can reconnect to sound bar, sometimes not. I sometimes receive message on the screen that I need to replace cable. I understand that that GEEKS service is not currently available, but I would appreciate attention ton this problem s soon as possible. Thanks- Ralph Fessler
