I had trouble with it cutting out after about 6 months of use. Had to unplug it to get it to go again. At 18 months, it quit entirely. This was after I'd had trouble with the optional side speakers (add on purchase) cutting out when only a month old. This unit has a lot of problems. I'm looking elsewhere next time.

We appreciate you like the sound quality of our Z9F Dolby Atmos soundbar. We're so sorry to hear it entirely quit working after 18 months of use. We’d like to try to help resolve the audio issue you’re encountering.
To start, please ensure your soundbar and wireless speakers are on the latest firmware. You can download the firmware here if you are not able to update from the soundbar itself : Sony HT-Z9F Firmware Update
Once your soundbar is on the latest firmware, double check all your cables connecting to the soundbar. The HDMI cables should be rated for 18 Gbps speeds or higher. Anything lower may result in audio drop off. Please ensure your router and modem are also placed away from the soundbar.
You can improve the connection of the soundbar by going into the Menu by pressing Home on the soundbar’s remote. Select Settings and scroll to Wireless Speaker Settings. Select the RF Channel and set it to OFF. Then switch it back ON. The connection process should take about 1 full minute. If it resolves in less than 15 seconds, do the procedure again. If you find the soundbar audio still cuts out, try adjusting the frequency the soundbar operates on from the default of Auto to either 5.2 or 5.8 gHz. You will need to do some trial and error to see which frequency and channel band works best in your home.

Often doesn’t. Subwoofer cuts out all the time. Every now and then the soundbar just flat out won’t work for no apparent reason. I have a $120 Vizio soundbar that is almost 10 years old and out performs this overpriced unit. I don’t recommend it.

Excellent system for those with hearing deficiency

Our previous sound system consisted of two separate speakers that were mounted behind our couch and a woofer that was near the TV set. I wear hearing aids and was having trouble making out the spoken word and continually turned up the volume making it uncomfortable for others in the room. This new Sound Bar with three speakers has done wonders for my TV viewing. Not only am I able to turn down the volume, its no longer necessary to wear my hearing aids continually. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone who has a problem hearing and understanding the spoken word on TV.

There is only one part of this sound bar I can't figure out. It doesn't happen all the time, but the sound completely goes away. it's off demo mode, and I've checked the timer on and it's off. I'll shut off the bar and turn it back on and it's completely fine. Like I said it doesn't happen all the time. It is super annoying and that's why I gave it 3 stars.

From time to time the subwoofer and the rear speak add on will flake out. It has something to do with channel signal interference. Changed up some Wi-Fi devices and somewhat fixed it. Seems to be a known issue on some sites I've seen. I feel the Roku Pro setup with Subwoofer and wireless speakers are better deal.

Thanks for the 4-stars review & feedback! We really appreciate you like your new Z9F Dolby Atmos soundbar for its price. The HT-Z9F features customizable speaker settings where you can set the speaker distance from 0 ft to 33 ft for much richer sound quality. You can raise the level of the soundbar and subwoofer an additional 6 dB in the user interface menu. This will allow you to fully experience the rumbling lows during explosions of a movie, and the clarity of the string instruments during an orchestral performance. To round out your listening experience, we recommend adding the SAZ9R wireless rear speakers.
