I bought this because the drive on my PS5 slim started to fail. While it was still under warranty, Sony requests that you send the entire system back for an indefinite amount of time--they estimated about 3 to 5 weeks. During that period, you would lose your settings, and any online game would need to be redownloaded and disc games reinstalled once returned. So, option #2, buy this. It was incredibly easy to and unlike previous game systems, the disc drive is not "married" to the motherboard. Swapping out the drive took under two minutes, setup and few more minutes and it's been working like a champ ever since. Sony did the right thing here by making the system more modular and this is a perfect case and point.

Fast and easy to use, less noise and easy to install.

I tried to fix my sons disc drive on his ps5 slim and accidentally broke it. This was the perfect replacement and so easy. Just pop the cover off, lift disc drive out, sit new disc drive in and it's ready to go. It was a very good price compared to paying someone to repair it

Easy install on my PS5 Pro. Comes with feet to accommodate the added height of the drive. Works as expected.

You NEED this for your PS5 pro if you have physical copies of games! Works great!

There's not much to say about this product except 1) it works and 2) I shouldn't have had to purchase this separately.

PS5 Pro with this is incredible. Finding games at big discounts makes this worth it compared to the digital side. For PS4 games it's even better.

The disc drive is really easy to install. I always get nervous when adding or removing hardware from computers and consoles. But Sony/PS has made this super easy and nearly fool proof. The drive works well, albeit a bit loud when starting up. I have never had any issues with the disc drive and am happy that I have the ability to preserve my games on disc instead of digital copies.

I love buying physical copies of games and the experience of walking into stores and picking them up. Getting the PS5 disc drive lets me keep that experience at home and play the discs I buy, which honestly makes me really happy.
