Buying open box "Excellent" condition proved to be the worst choice. Item was missing contents so I never even had a chance to use. This is more a review of the Best Buy process and not the product itself. Please do better because I had to return.

Best Buds for us PS5 guys to have right now

Sony delivers great comfortable audio quality again, albeit without enough bass for truly epic run and gun gaming (FPS). Then there is the odd choice of needing a PC for setup. Maybe Sony remedies this choice with future updates or additional apps. And I will tell you how one bud lost audio and how to remedy the issue I had. This might be a bridge device for Sony to bring something better down the road. I do think its the best you can get now though. Want to hear more, read on. First off, the buds sound great and require a bit more effort to get the audio to sound the way I prefer. They work on PC, PS5 and potentially Android phones with the latest Bluetooth LE (this codec is still a work in progress for some). Save yourself a hassle and start with Windows PC to setup the Buds in the Inzone app. This choice by Sony seems odd if your goal, like me, is to use Buds with PS5. The Buds can only be tweaked in the app that is only available for PC. Its a decent app and mostly worked. Just hard to dial in audio sound preference and set equalizer settings in PC for games you play on PS5. I also tried preset sound profiles that all sound pretty similar. None add bass, It is just not available to these Buds. Use the Equalizer and do the best you can ("V" shape often gets close). Also the tap customization did nothing at all. Either the taps only work on mobile, are for other earphones that use this app too, or I am missing a step after clicking update (did add audio program to the app). About the only function the buds seem to have, are the default taps for volume up/down and ANC level. Ultimately, the Buds need an app/menu setting for the PS5 to at least adjust equalizer. Feels like a major oversight. Now you have your Buds sounding good and you go to PS5 to play. The audio is great and the mic sounds clean. If you have music in game it feels like you are in a open space filled with music then there is a separate layer of audio that clearly gives direction for what ever in your game is coming at you. Great for FPS or even just messing around in a game like Minecraft. You WILL know when and where something is about to come your way. Using chat room while gaming I did notice a bit more walkie talkie in the room setup to play with my friends. Not sure if the ANC is making this more noticeable, but i only noticed it every now and then. Other players said audio/voice was fine on their end. Troubleshooting was a big part of my testing these Buds. A big Thanks to Valerie at Sony for her help. The left ear bud went down (lost connection) for a reason I'm not sure why. It might have lost connection when I got too far from the system one day, couldn't get it to repeat since. Anyhow, Sony does have graphics up now to help anyone who also has similar issue. Basically, "Lid Open, Buds in Case" then its a matter of resetting with the button on the case till light goes orange (15 sec) then release. Or using a sim tool to reset transceiver and holding button on case till blue light flashes then release and you will be up and running again. Also since My Sony TV is connected to a Bose soundbar. I lost PS5 connection 20+ minutes into playing when no audio was detected. If this happens to you. Two settings to change on your soundbar. Disable CEC or check to see if you have a Standby timer function. I usually dont need a headset unless i will use chat. I needed to change these setting to keep the PS5 from being dumped by the TV when no audio was present. I really like the Inzone Buds now that they are setup and running. Battery life is at least twice the amount of the PS5 controller. They lack bass, but directional audio beats that omission. Being stuck in PC for setup stinks for PS5 users. The Buds are not as nice as the slightly pricier XM series earbuds. But for PS5 gaming, these are the best so far.

I had given up on earbuds for gaming a while back. Bluetooth is just not suited for gaming. The lag kills it for me an my brain just can't deal with the AV being out of sync. Even the BT buds aimed at gaming had too much lag. So I stick with mainly wired and wireless headphones that use a 2.4ghz dongle. No more BT for me! The Inzone Buds aren't the first headphones I've used that allowed a dongle. The previous ones I used also had delay, so I quit using them for gaming also. The Inzone changes everything for gaming with buds. Zero delay! It's just like playing with a wired or 2.4ghz dongle headset. Finally I can use inconspicuous, easy to to travel with buds when gaming. As soon as my Legion Go shows up these are going to pair perfectly. I still use my old WF-1000XM3 with some of the best noise cancelling I've had. I've tried quite a few buds since getting them and none have equaled the NC quality Sony has. These Inzones seem to use the same system because the cancelling is amazing. Turning them on nearly completely removes the buzz of a window AC and some of the chatter going around near me. This makes it easy to turn out folks during my lunch break at work. Sound quality is equal to the XM3, but only on the higher frequencies. The bass just doesn't get as deep and clean. These are gaming headsets, so lessening the bass keeps it from muddying up the sounds to locate enemies but it takes away from immersion with weaker explosions. The Inzone Hub allows some tweaking, but it just can't reach the depth I like for gaming. This is the only true negative for me. The next really isn't a ding on the Inzone's themselves, but for any bud - positional audio is terrible. The soundstage is pretty wide for a set of buds, but being able to pick where the sound is coming from isn't very easy. Even a pair of cheap over the ear phones has better positional audio. It's not Sony's fault that pumping sound directly into your ear canal just isn't that great for location. Bluetooth connection can be iffy if your phone doesn't support the codec and Bluetooth LE. My Samsung Z Fold 5 connects without issue. Switching requires that you hold both buttons for 1s and wait for the audio cue that the modes have switched from receiver to BT. There's no app for the phone so any tweaks have to be made via the Inzone Hub app on your computer. You can change the taps to whatever you need. The apps is pretty straight forward without much junk or flair, exactly how I like them. The Sony Inzone Buds are the best buds I've gotten to use for gaming and probably will remain on top for a while...or at least til the next version. Looking forward to my next gaming session!

The Wireless Buds to Get for PC/PS5!

I’ve been playing games on both my PS5 and PC with big over-the-ear gaming headphones for as long as I can remember. I have never considered gaming earbuds until I learned of the Sony INZONE Buds. Over-ears tend to make my ears sweat and they are only comfortable for a few hours. These PlayStation inspired earbuds I can wear until the battery runs out. They are incredibly comfortable and fit well in my ears. What separates these gaming buds from Sony’s mobile focused earbuds are that they come with a 2.4Ghz transceiver that allows you to game in a much higher quality and without the latency problems that you might encounter over a Bluetooth connection. The best part is there is a spot in the charging case to store the dongle which is convenient but does make the case quite a bit thicker than I’d like. They sound incredible in all uses: single player games, music, and multiplayer games where you need to chat with teammates. I had no trouble hearing others and they reported that I sounded crystal clear in games like Fortnite and Rocket League. They sound just as well as the most expensive gaming headphones I have heard and are my new go-to for playing on PC or PS5. If you’ve used a recent pair of Sony over-the-ears or earbuds, then you know how good their active noise cancelling can be. These have some of the best noise cancellation I’ve ever heard, easily drowning out any outside sounds and letting you focus on your games. The app for PC includes a feature that allows you to test the fit of the tip to make sure you have a good seal. If you don’t then the noise cancelling may not be effective. You simply tap on the left bud to turn on active noise cancelling or to turn on the ambient sound mode, which works equally as well as noise cancelling. It allows outside noise in that sounds natural while still letting you to hear your game audio. The buds are customizable on PC with the INZONE app where you can customize what tapping or long pressing on the buds do as well as adjust the equalizer and mic settings. The buds do feature a separate chat channel from the main channel allowing you to set different volume per each output on games that support this. Battery life is very good, lasting longer than you should play a game in one sitting. The buds also support quick charging where a few minutes in the charging case can provide up to an hour of playback time. There is no support for wireless charging. The only downside to the INZONE Buds is that for whatever reason they do not feature support for classic Bluetooth audio, only Bluetooth LE audio which only a handful of Android phones support. Most importantly, this means you cannot use them with iPhone. You can use the USB-C dongle with an iPad or iPhone 15 but it’s not the same as true wireless over Bluetooth. If you need something that works for gaming and allows you to take a phone call at the same time then you’ll need to look elsewhere, at least until Apple starts supporting Bluetooth LE. Pros: -Excellent Sound Quality -Effective Active Noise Cancelling -Ambient Sound works equally as well as ANC -No Latency Issues (over 2.4Ghz) -Works with PC or PS5 (or some Android phones) -Spatial Audio -Excellent Battery Life -Comes in Black or “Playstation White” Cons: -No Bluetooth for iPhone, Switch -Case is a bit thick Overall – these are outstanding for gaming: excellent sound quality, unbeatable noise cancellation, and super comfortable. If you don’t mind not being able to use them with an iPhone I can wholeheartedly recommend these.

    Decent earbuds but nothing special

I tested these earbuds on my laptop playing games, watching movies, and playing music, and while they are decent, they are nothing special and I have other earbuds (Sony XM and Jabra) that sound better. Pros: The sound quality is decent with very clear highs and midrange. They are extremely comfortable even wearing them all day. Excellent InZone app that includes a lot of features and is very well laid out. The sound quality of the mic is very good, and clear. The earbuds include seals that come in several sizes for different ears and the app includes a test to tell you if you are using the right size seals for your ears. I found this to be very helpful and it works really well. The seals work very well in reducing outside noise. Cons: There is essentially no bass, and setting the EQ doesn’t improve the bass at all. The noise cancellation is poor. While they fit snuggly in your ears and block out some noise that way, turning on ANC doesn’t really do much. The earbuds include spatial sound but again it doesn’t do much. There is an EQ which you can set several bands, but it only made a very little difference and didn’t improve the bass which it definitely needed. As mentioned, overall, they are decent and you probably won’t be disappointed if you know what you are getting, but there are better options out there.

Truly excellent earbuds for gaming and life

I've always been a big fan of Sony earbuds and was excited to see if wireless earbuds for gaming would be everything Sony was promising. There just aren't that many options out there in the category. While the INZONE Buds have been tuned specifically for gaming, they also sound pretty decent for music. From what I've read, they use the same architecture as the WF-1000X earbuds, and those have become classics. These are Sony earbuds, so sound quality it not an issue. But how they work for gaming, since they were built for that purpose, is the issue. Latency is always an issue with any wireless device in gaming. A split second can be the difference between success and failure. Sony promises latency of less than 30ms and I believe it. I haven't seen any issues with latency thus far. The other concern I had was spatial issues with earbuds since there is so little space to work with. Sony seems to have figured this issue out with 360 Spatial Sound and the INZONE Hub allows the user the personalize the sound field to suite the user's taste. I have been impressed with how this works in gaming and have been able to hear when and from what direction opponents are coming from in Modern Warfare II. Bass could be stronger, but I wasn't expecting over the ear headphone bass from earbuds anyway. Sony advertises the INZONE Buds as being comfortable, and they aren't wrong. I've worn them longer than I should have and haven't noticed any discomfort whatsoever. And typical Sony, noise cancelling works well, pretty much blocking out all but the sound of the game. My only disappointment with the INZONE Buds was the lack of documentation in the box. As others have said, I felt I was left on my own to figure out much of the magic that makes the INZONE Buds so good. Overall, I've been very pleased with the INZONE Buds. Sound quality is excellent, fit is amazing, and Spatial Sound works great.

    The Best Gaming Earbuds

The Sony Inzone wireless earbuds are simply the best earbuds for gaming. They have a long battery life, very low latency, and are very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The earbuds come in a slightly bulkier case than other earbuds but also store a USB Type C adapter. The earbuds connect to devices using the included adapter but can also connect using bluetooth. This is a great feature, allowing you to have extremely low latency over the adapter. I’ve tested this on a PlayStation 5 and a Windows gaming PC. The adapter has a switch for PC/PS5 and it provides a solid connection. Connecting to a mobile device over bluetooth was super easy as well. The design makes them incredibly comfortable. The majority of the earbuds are not in your ear, which results in less contact. That makes them more comfortable and I’m guessing provides a much larger battery. The sound is incredible. The 360 spatial audio is a really cool feature. You can use the smartphone app to set this up. It works well and really does create an immersive experience in games. The earbuds also have active noise cancellation, something that Sony excels at. The microphone is also incredibly clear, using some sort of AI assistance that filters out other sounds. This might not be the intended use, but the long battery life and great microphone make them really useful for work Teams/Zoom calls. Touch controls are intuitive and an there is an audible sound that lets you know the command was successfully done. Battery life is stated at 12 hours, which I was able to achieve. The earbuds can also get an hour charge in five minutes in the case, and the case stores an additional full charge. I do wish that the case had wireless charging, but it does charge over a USB Type C connection. These are just really great earbuds, and the best for gaming with the low latency adapter.

These earbuds are comfortable and have good sound. They are easy to put in and stay put while moving around. The case is nice and supports usb-c charging. I planned on using these with my psvr2. The problem I have with them is that they only pair via a usb-c dongle. I had to get a usb-a to usb-c adaptor to accomplish this. It would have been nice to have one of these out of the box, especially with it being a So y first party headset. The earbuds did come with five different sizes of silicone tips, finding the right size was pretty easy, so these are sure to fit in any ear. The noise cancellation works really well. Coupled with proper fitting ear tips to isolate a lot of noise, you can game in relative silence. There were no major complaints about the microphone quality. They were only used at a generally quiet home setting, but even with kids running around and the occasional dog barking, there were no background noise complaints from my gaming partners. I think these are a pretty nice alternative to wearing a dedicated pair of gaming headphones with a lot less bulk. I think they would be good for laptop gaming on the go!

Nice little set of earbuds for gaming. This is a set of specific earbuds designed for the PS5. Hook is quick and easy. No pairing, just plug in the adaptor and turn on the earbuds. And you're off. While the adaptor is what makes this user friendly. It is also why i gave the 4 star rating. You have to use the adaptor at all times. Its a double edge sword here. It worked flawlessly on my PS5 and my PC. Just click the little slider and it gets detected and working. IT WILL NOT WORK ON XBSX. THERE IS NO USB-C PORT. Sound quality was great. Nice clear and crisp. decent bass as well. Noise cancelling works well. My son ignored me the whole time like I wasn't there. LOL They do sound good. Fit was great. I thought they were a tad on the large size. But they were comfortable and not heavy. So good for those longer gaming sessions. I also used on my PC for some music listening. The adaptor does fit nicely in the case for storage or portability. As for the controls. I did struggle with them a little bit. I'm not much a fan of touch controls on ear buds. But they did work with a little adjustment

The Sony InZone Buds is a unique set of earbuds that solves for me a unique problem: long playing times. Traditional over the head gaming headsets tend to overheat my head and prevent me from playing games for a long time. The Sony InZone Buds solves this by proving lightweight sound machine that does not actually touch your face, miraculously stays put in your ear once you find the right ear tip, and my head is still cool. Moreover, the battery life using the low latency USB-c dongle is impressive. Sony claims 12 hours of continuous use, but in my test, the combination of the battery life on the Buds and the charging case, I have lasted over a week with usage. Using the dongle as the audio interface, there are no audio lags that are typically found in traditional Bluetooth headsets. What you see is what you hear. This is a game changer for wireless gaming. In addition, Sony uses the same speakers as found in their premium earbud offerings, so you get very good high-fidelity audio. Everything sounds crystal clear including the highs, lows, and mediums. They lack the punchy bass that you typically get with “cans” on your head, but making sure you have a tight seal in your earbuds and a bit of EQ tweaking using the InZone app on the PC, and you will be comfortable listening all day. Active Noise Canceling is amazing. Turn it on and the only thing you can hear is people’s voices. It is truly on par with all of Sony’s other’s active noise canceling headphones. A common misconception is that ANC blocks everything out. If you are looking for that, this is not it. What this headphone excels at is blocking out all the external low frequencies and a lot of the middle frequencies. You won’t hear fan noise, people walking around you, people dropping things, but you will hear the voices on the TV near you and babies crying. So, these buds do a great job of only letting in the vocal frequencies. Ambient Mode is the one I prefer using because as a married person who games on the couch next to my wife and having kids doing kids things in the house, it’s important for me to also be able to hear what the people around me are doing or breaking. What is impressive is the clarity of the ambient mode that makes it sound like I am not wearing earbuds at all. The only negative I have with the Sony InZone Buds is the limited Bluetooth connectivity. I know Sony wants to market these as low latency earbuds using the included transmitter and does not want people to be unimpressed with the lag in the Bluetooth protocol, but it would have been nice to have more Bluetooth compatibility. It would have been nice to carry these earbuds everywhere I go, not just in front of a PS5 or PC. I have not been able to get the Buds paired properly with any phone I have (Google Pixel 7 Pro, or iPhone 15) and reproduce sound. On my android phone, it will pair, but does not produce any sound and will just disconnect after a few minutes. If I use the included dongle on my Android phone, it works fine. I understand that Sony is marketing this as a wireless gaming headset for the PS5 and PC but would have been nice to just carry these around and listen to music and YouTube on my phone without risking damage to the dongle. All in all, for PC and PS5 gaming, this is a very premium feature rich set of in ear buds and you will not be disappointed in them. Superior Noise Cancellation and great sound built for comfort.

I absolutely enjoy these earbuds for what they are, not what I want them to be.  I'm a audiophile, and while good bass is to be envied as a creme de la creme. I'm particularly not expecting a lightweight earbud built around long term battery life and good sound to to punch hard. It punches good bass, I'm listening to music now on them as I write this. It's not the great booming I've heard on my Beat pros. Nor is it the resonating vibrations of my Skullcandy Crusher Evos.  That said. I did have to modify my phone case to accommodate the adapter. I understand what they are doing electrically. The design team is smartly outsourcing to the larger power source to push the outgoing transmission, and to have the in the buds the  capacitance reserved for receiving and deploying the sound. It's a triangle diagram shift. I think this is clever. A trick to deliver extended battery life. Smart move design team.  Design team, why was there no instructions on the button usage? I fumbled around tapping haphazardly, making me feel like I skipped something. When, there were no directions. Not fun. Do better. I understand it's a length to translate in different language I suppose. But it's a decency in America at least that's expected. Beats did it. You can too.  Especially for a gaming headset. Which is my main point to bring. If it's a gaming headset. The controls better be defined and precise. Not blatant and blunt tapping. Cool haptic button. No directions? OK. If you're going to say GAMING EARBUDS. I understand you're breaking ground into a supermarket. Bring the bass. Bring the cannon ball! The BANG! GAMING!! There's an expectation with the term. Which is that it can stand the most rigorous, absolutely punishing volumes and duration with excellence. That is where these earbuds excel in one hand and fail in another.  I'm going to enjoy running with these as a lightweight, earbud pair that I can deploy from their lively case. I know they can go on the go, and go for a long time.   They succeed in sustainability; it is their forte. This is their hallmark of brilliance with this pair. The battery life is supreme. It goes the distance as heroes do.  But as heroes do great deeds, do they perform? The do good. They are great at good. If you get my meaning. Where in that capacity consistently good can be seen as greatness. But there is a threshold reserved for true greatness. Ferrari in the excellence of sports cars. Rolex in watches. For example. Their names resound for reasons of quality detail and exquisite epitomizing of the role they play. They are stewards of the opportunity to be what it is.  The inzone buds does not epitomize that, in terms of bass, nor does it in ergonomics in the user interface. But they do great at being good long term use and battery life sustainable earbuds. Good for gaming, on a basic level It can get the job done.  Distinguished by the fact of how the intelligently designed transmitter to receiver operates. It's a smart sustainability move with the specific transmitter. Also because not every pc is built with Bluetooth. I had to buy a USB dongle for my pc build. And not every game system is built with Bluetooth. The logic is that the provided transmitter is a provision for that capacity. Or lack their of. If you get what I mean.  I leave this review to say that it succeeds is A while fails at B. It's a mixed feeling. I hoped that would hit like a Klipsch subwoofer, destroying a Covanent Elite from Halo with a rocket launcher as Master Chief. I didn't get that. I got a sustainable economic battery of a Prius with polite bass.  100% in one area. 0% in the next.  100% for basic gaming. 0% in epic gaming.  I’m content for what they are. Not what I wanted them to be. I was wanting earbuds that were long lasting in battery life for running. I got that! I'm happy to say.  But here's what I would love!  A heavy earbud of the same formfactor. Where the weight is the quality of the metal driver; who achieves the best bass imaginable. An earbud that heroes wear for gaming, as they epically crush their enemies in victory. Gamers are heroes in the making. Equip them. Give them the hammer of Thor: Mjolnir. When they pick these up; may it rise like Arthur's Excalibur, from the boulder it was struck in. That they are worthy to battle. To be in the fight of life as a champion. When they pick these earbuds up that have precise controls they can clearly navigate. May they have a vision of how to navigate the fight acoustically. This is the greatness to be achieved. May these buds rise like a Phoenix from a failure to deliver heroic gaming buds, into buds that Truly deliver. Inzone gaming.  That said; I absolutely enjoy these earbuds for what they are, not what I want them to be. 4/5 stars.

Earbuds are life! Sure, over the headphones are still produced by most major companies, but now it seems everyone is trying their hand at the earbud market. While gaming earbuds are gaining more traction, Sony finds themselves launching two sets of earbuds targeted to the gaming market. The Sony Inzone buds are a get set of buds that are nearly perfect, but great nonetheless. I normally start my reviews focused on setup, and therein lies the problem. The Sony Inzone buds were easy to set up, however, doing so required installing software on my computer. This would be fine if I were using the headphones on my computer, which, by the way, you can. They work great on PC. Using it on my PS5, the software being on my computer is a major inconvenience. While I don't need to use the software to make tweaks to the headphones with every use, having that software on say, a phone would have made use far more easier. Outside of the location of the software, the Inzone Buds are an amazing product. Obviously sound is priority, and the sound is great. Directional sound is great, allowing me to hear the directions my opponents approach from in FPS. The feel of the buds...it's like they're not even there. I almost went to sleep with them in my ear one day forgetting I had them in. Battery life on them is something I barely got to test because the headphones last forever, and after them resting int he case for a little while, they're back fully charged. The earbud/case set up is far more easy to use then the regular over the head headphones. When gaming, the combination of the audio and the noise cancellation has you feeling like you're in your own world. If the Inzone hub app was available via mobile, these would be a no-brainer 5 out of 5 product. Still, everything else around the Sony INZONE Buds is so good, I'd still strongly recommend them to anyone in the market for gaming headphones.

    Great gaming ear buds

First, I got these to try and the title I got was gaming headset. So, I was not expecting ear buds. But I am not disappointed either. These are by far the best ear buds I have used. Sound is great for gaming and as well for music and movies. On Pc, you can download software so you can customize them a bit more. A couple things for me though as to why a 4 star. My first complaint is how they made the USB-C receiver. It is L shaped so when it comes up and out of the USB-C spot, it can block other ports. This might be great for PS5, but I would have liked to see it just come straight out or come with a small extender for PC that would bring it out of the way. My second issue and my main one is that this is not Bluetooth. I was hoping I would be able to use with my iPhone, unfortunately I can't. It does work with iPad and Samsung phones that use USB-C. But outside of those things, these are comfortable for ear buds, sound great and the mic is pretty decent. Initially I was surprised with getting these as I thought I was getting a headset, but glad to have them. These are a lot easier to pack up then a headset and I have replaced my headset with these for my laptop. Just know that you do have to use these with the USB-C receiver that it comes with. I would give it 5 stars if it had Bluetooth as well. That is the only thing this lacks. But overall, if you do have a USB-C device and looking for great gaming ear buds, then I recommend these. They also work great with Steam deck and Nintendo Switch.

Hi cad8099, Thanks for your feedback and insights. We are delighted to hear that you are enjoying the INZONE Buds. The WFG700N doesn't support Standard Bluetooth connection. It supports Bluetooth 5.3 Low Energy audio (LC3 Codec). In order to connect the INZONE Buds to a phone, please make sure the phone supports either USB-C input and/or Bluetooth LE Audio (5.3) that supports “LC3” Codec. Thank you for choosing Sony. Absolutely horrible sound but amazing battery life

These earbuds are not worth the price at all. They sound horrible. Bass is completely non-existent. They almost sound like $8 earbuds. Actually a pair of JBL wired earbuds I bought for 20 bucks sound way better than these. Sure you can use the PC app and EQ them which makes them sound a little better but then you run into distortion problems. One of the other biggest downfalls is the EQ settings do not save when using them with the PS5. For $200 I would expect them to have made some sort of EQ settings in the PS5 or an app to go along with these. The sound on the PS5 is completely terrible. Bass is already non-existent on these on PC but on PS5 there is just no bass whatsoever. On the PS5 these are just treble earbuds. I highly recommend checking out the arctis gamebuds. Not only are they cheaper they also sound way better than these. These would be a great buy if they are priced around $50 but for $200 these are just not worth it at all. It's very disappointing because these have the best battery life out of all other gaming buds but the sound is just not it. If you want a pair of gaming earbuds with extremely long battery life these are for you but that comes at a cost. The sound is just plain out awful
