Hi Trev, thanks for choosing and purchasing our product. We hope you are enjoying your new gaming headset. We understand your feedback on the WHG900N's boom mic. Having to physically flip the microphone up or down to be heard can be inconvenient, and having it within your vision can be distracting. Unfortunately, the design of the WHG900N requires the boom microphone to be lowered to turn it on and raised to turn it off. Thanks for choosing Sony. ~Earl
