I bought these to replace my AirPods. These were poor quality , sound was low and wouldn’t go any higher. Wouldn’t recommend. Ended up returning these and purchasing the newest AirPods that were $100 cheaper than these.

The Sony LinkBuds Fit Noise Cancelling Earbuds are a great pair headphones that come with additional features when used with the Sony Sound Connect app. The earbuds come well packaged with a Quickstart guide printed on the inner packaging of the box. The instructions are straight forward and easy to read and comprehend. When taking the earbuds out of the case, it’s already in pairing mode. When I went to the Bluetooth settings of my mobile device, it was ready to pair. I then downloaded the Sony Sound Connect app. This app allows me to access quite a few additional features that are unique to these earbuds. It allows me to choose from preselected EQ settings, being able to setup my own custom EQ settings, and adjust other features for my listening pleasure. The earbuds have a very good and solid fit in my ear. The wing part of the earbuds help keep them from moving when I’m exercising or doing outdoor events. The noise canceling feature of these earbuds is very good. I was quite impressed with how much outside noise it was able to make inaudible. The earbuds have a good amount of bass when listening to music that I would like to listen to with bass heavy content. The case the earbuds come in is lightweight. However, I wish the design of the case could be a bit thinner. Especially when I’m carrying them in the front pockets of my jeans and slacks. Overall, these are some good earbuds by Sony that have a good sound with great features.

    Great Earbuds, Minor Usability Issues

The Sony LinkBuds Fit are a set of in-ear noise canceling earbuds. The immediate thing that sets them apart is that have little ear hooks which help them stay in place in your ears and setup includes a personalization that involves taking a photo of your ear to further optimize it’s performance. The earbuds are sleek with a charging case that has a semi transparent cover, perhaps to enable showing off the earbuds. Unfortunately, the case only does wired charging over USB-C, no wireless charging. Battery life of the case seems comparable to similar sized cases from other major earbuds manufacturers with the battery life of the earbuds being pretty consistently 5 hours for me. This actually matches what the description says which I consider a plus. My other similarly sized earbuds claim 10+ hours but only ever get 4-5, no matter how much I disable noise cancelling and any other features they have. While the setup process for the LinkBuds Fit is relatively simple, in that you don’t do anything particularly complicated, it is not necessarily quick. Set up for me was close to ten to twelve minutes, in part slowed down by the need to create and validate a couple accounts with Sony and the awkward positioning needed to get photos of my ears that the app would accept which took a while to figure out the best way to hold my phone and turn my head to get it to work. Whether all that configuration is actually worthwhile is still up in the air. On one hand, I did try out one of the 360 sound stage apps to experience the immersive experience you get after completing the setup and it is absolutely amazing. Hands down the best wireless earbud experience I’ve ever had. But on the other hand, I don’t already use those apps, most of the music or media I listen to isn’t available in them, it does not appear it can up-convert or import the music I already own so most of my listening does not benefit from this. That being said, the audio quality is pretty good and once I figured out that the tips pre-installed on the earbuds were too large for me, while they went in comfortably, music playback was just as good as any other premium earbud that I’ve used. My general use of wireless earbuds falls into listening to music/GPS navigation or taking calls on my ride to work, taking video calls, and listening to music while working out at the gym. For the first, I like active noise canceling to remove wind noise but also adaptive volume to reduce the earbud audio if listening to music and I start talking to someone. For video calls, my primary need aside from good mic pickup is that the earbuds seamlessly switch from my phone to computer. Gym workouts mostly need comfort and that the earbuds don’t fall out of my ears. My first ride to work was with the oversized earbud tips. I listened to music and GPS directions for the ride into work, then music, directions, and a phone call on the way back. As I commute via EUC, my commute calls are often fighting with 30+mph wind noise for voice clarity. I typically ride with ambient noise mode so that I can maintain the ability to hear the outside world. For most of my call, this worked well though there were some particularly noisy areas where I needed to use noise cancelling. It was during this commute that I realized something was wrong with the fit of my earbuds. They would periodically start slipping out of my ears which was annoying as I’d need to carefully reach into my helmet to reseat them without providing a gap large though that they might fall out. Otherwise, audio from music and GPS was great and ambient noise mode worked well. In fact, it almost works too well - I’ll discuss this and noise cancelling shortly. My phone call went very well. While I wouldn’t say this singlehandedly sold me on these earbuds, it is a big component of why I’m giving this five stars. People on the other end of the call had no issues hearing me. In fact, while they vaguely knew that I had to be on my EUC riding home, they heard no wind noise, didn’t have any mic drop outs, and could hear and understand me perfectly well. That final point is key because I’m pretty soft spoken. So even with relatively quiet rides, need to raise my voice a lot to be consistently heard if I’m having a conversation while wearing a full face helmet. But not this time - I was able to talk normally and be heard. Several calls and intentionally riding fast confirmed this was not a fluke. Regarding ambient noise mode, I first experimented with it at home after doing the initial set up but before listening to music. I was mostly playing around with activating voice assistant and giving commands from the earbuds. I noticed something startling - where with other earbuds, ambient mode seemed to pipe in ambient noise, though it was still a bit muted, the LinkBuds Fit seemed to actually amlify it slightly. As in if I removed the earbuds altogether, the volume or clarifty with which I could hear what was going on around me actually decreasted. With noise cancelling, sadly, I experienced the phenomenon that I’ve always experienced with noise cancelling mode with earbuds or headphones. For 1-2 hour durations, it’s fine and comfortable, but longer and I just feel too much accumulation of pressure in my ears. The app that supports a lot of the additional functionality of the earbuds has a lot of features. I’m not going to go through all of them, but instead highlight the things I found particularly useful and things which are annoying. On the useful side, it can track the overall volume that you’ve been listening over a week and make adjustments to keep your weekly average DB below a particular threshold. It can analyze your listening history to make suggestions or figure out things that you like, and the app facilitates pairing a second device - for me that’s my personal laptop so you have the audio source automatically switch. On the annoyance side - there’s a feature to track the environment (GPS location and maybe other stuff) you’re in and activity you’re doing (walking, on a train, driving, etc), and adjust the sound control automatically. So if you generally turn on noise cancelling when on a bus but like ambient sound while you’re walking to the bus stop, it will do that automatically. It’s supposed to learn from you but I found that it kept auto switching modes very quickly after I’d manually set it. Which makes it hard for me to see how it’s learning what I want - I ended up disabling that. The other annoyance is that the touch controls start at two taps. It has a cool feature where I can tap on my ear instead of the earbuds themselves and it’s a good thing because for some reason, that’s way more reliable than tapping the device. The latter is such a strong usability issue that taken together with the other issues drops my overall rating to 4 stars from five.

Sony has dropped yet another set of wireless earbuds. I had the LinkBuds Truly Wireless open earbuds until I lost one somewhere to the ether. I enjoyed the open style buds in certain environments where isolation and noise cancellation was not as important but times like mowing my lawn they were not idea. The new LinkBud Fits as the name suggests fit very comfortably. They come with the standard fare of the buds, case, charging cable (USB A to C) and the 3 sizes of ear tips. As with the previous LinkBuds the charging case does not support wireless charging. Not a major inconvenience but it is a missing creature comfort. Pairing the LB Fits to my phone was effortless. (i had already updated my phone from Sony's Headphone Connect to the new version of Sound Connect.) Having used both apps, the newer app is definitely more polished with seemingly more features than previously available. I have to say I really like the added touch and gesture features. Being able to answer or reject calls with either nodding my head yes or no is kinda cool. Also touching the area of my cheek in front of my ear instead of the buds themselves is godsend in instances when my hands are wet like when washing the dishes. Probably my favorite features of these buds. I have been wearing them every day for a little over a week now for about 3-4hrs continuously while at work in a semi noisy office and while doing yardwork. During that time I've only had the one side fall out while bending over, but this was after moving around quite a bit and sweaty and worked their way to the edge of my ear canal and I neglected to secure them back due to my hands being full. The right bud hit the ground from a height of about 4ft and landed on the back side of the buds. The silicone wingtip cover protected the buds from any damage. Speaking of the silicone wingtips it appears Sony sells replacement silicone covers in 4 different colors as well as covers for the case itself. This is pretty much the first time I've seen that in an ear bud. The buds themselves are light weight and comfortable. They have not caused me any hotspots, but because of the silicone still can tend to get sweaty for me which can cause my ears to itch to where I would take them out for a little bit or re-adjust to give a quick scratch. ANC and ambient noise mode work as needed. I can have conversations with my office mates without having to stop the music or media I have playing and can continue on once I am done talking without having to fumble with my phone to pause or stop what I am listening to. Another interesting feature found in the app is background music effect. Three settings that will change from a public setting to living room to bedroom and each profile will change how media will sound. The cafe mode will push the music to the background. So I can focus my attention on something else. Sound from the tiny buds will not blow your eardrums out at full blast, but they do not distort and sound clear even at max. They can go from allowing near full situational awareness to isolated in my own bubble. I do not expect to be hit in the chest with music thumping through these little guys nor should anyone else. With options like the Buds 3 Pro at $30ish more than the $200 price point these are set at it seems like a questionable value. Position the price point under the standard Buds 3 and the LinkBuds Fit become a solid contender. Street prices will possibly be lower, but LinkBuds Fit do not disappoint as a nice, lightweight and compact wireless earbud.

Hi WSohn, Thanks for commenting! We're thrilled to know that you find your LinkBuds Fit comfortable and appreciate the new features like touch and gesture controls. The ability to answer or reject calls by nodding your head or touching your cheek is indeed a convenient addition, especially in situations where your hands are occupied or wet. We greatly appreciate your input with the fitting supporters of the earbuds. The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and ambient noise modes seem to be working well for you, allowing you to have conversations without stopping your music. The background music effect in the app also sounds like a useful feature for adjusting the sound profile based on your environment. While the lack of wireless charging for the case is a minor inconvenience, it seems the overall performance and features of the LinkBuds Fit meet your needs. Your point about the price comparison with the Buds 3 Pro is noted. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with our product and for choosing Sony! - Romeo Sony_US

When I wear noise cancelling earbuds at work for long periods of time, I normally experience discomfort and have to move over to something over the ear. With the new Sony LinkBuds Fit I do not experience any discomfort or ear fatigue at all! I have worn these for up to 4 hours straight without taking them out, and I have to say they are the most comfortable earbuds I have ever worn. They also do great in the gym, and stay in place perfectly when moving a lot. This is something I have struggled with, using other ear buds in the past. On top of the amazing comfort the sound quality is out of this world! Podcasts are crystal clear, music is full and rich with impressive bass and clear hi's, and this stays true at all volume levels. You can even further tweak your audio settings easily using the Sound Connect app, I highly recommend using that to get your sound tuned perfectly to your preference. I have also enjoyed having this synced to my phone for music, and work laptop for business calls. The transition is seamless, and it's very nice to not have to switch audio devices when multitasking!

Most Comfortable Buds I Ever Tested

I've been testing the new Sony linkbuds fit for the last week. Overall, they are stylish, comfortable to wear, provide great sound quality, and impressive noise cancelling. However, Innitial setup and tap features need improvement. Setup Pairing the Linkbuds to my phone via the bluetooth connection was quick and simple. However, rest of the initial setup process was cumbersome, requiring multiple agreements, app downloads, and a Sony login. After what felt to be about 20 minutes, I still wasn't entirely confident that I had completed the setup correctly. fortunately this was a one time annoyance to deal with. Earbuds and Case: The earbuds and case are undoubtedly the most impressive I've used. The case is beautifully designed, much smaller than it appears in photos, and easily fits in my pocket. It securely holds the earbuds in place and is effortless to open. The earbuds themselves are remarkably comfortable to wear. I would even go as far as to say they are the most comfortable that I ever tested. Sound Quality and Features: The sound quality is exceptional, surpassing any other earbuds I've tested. The volume is ample, the bass is deep and full, and the mids and highs are crystal clear. The noise-canceling and ambient modes are particularly impressive. The ANC effectively blocks out most ambient noise without causing any discomfort or hissing. The ambient mode amplifies important sounds while filtering out background noise. The earbuds also dynamically switch between cancelling and ambient modes. At first I thought it was a bug but as I moved from inside the house to outside I started to notice the switching was very intentional. The more I moved around the more I appreciated how well it performed. Although, at times the ANC was slow to adapt to situations where someone was speaking to me and I had to take out my buds so I can hear them speak. Tap Functions: Unfortunately, the tap functions were somewhat unreliable. While the earbuds support tapping gestures, I often found that they didn't respond consistently, regardless of where I tapped. Sony Sound Connect app. The app itself was less than ideal. While it offered a wide range of customization options, including noise canceling, ambient mode, and equalizer settings, the interface was not very intuitive. With that said, If you prioritize comfort, style and excellent sound quality. You will love these earbuds as much as I do.

      Hi buckbabes,

Thanks for sharing your review and experience with the LinkBuds Fit. We're glad that you like the design, comfort, sound quality, and noise canceling function of the headphones. Your feedback about the tap function, initial setup, and app interface is greatly appreciated.

For optimum performance, make sure that the software version of the headphones is up-to-date (via the Sony Sound Connect app). The app also allows you to fully utilize the capabilities of the headphones. You may find this link helpful:

The range in which the headset can detect tap operations is from around the tragus to the lower side and sideburn. When tapping, use your index finger to perform a harder tap within the tap detection area. When tapping the headset or the area near your ear 2 or 3 times, tap it quickly with an interval of about 0.2 seconds between taps. For more information, please refer to this link:

[PROS] Secure Fit: Unsurprisingly, the LinkBuds Fit stays into place when doing moderate fitness activities. It's not designed for use in a full fledged pickup game of basketball, but it works perfectly for shooting around. Although the buds have a lightweight design, they don't become loose in mildly intense routines. Satisfactory Battery Life: Battery life is not amazing, but it's good enough. I'm able to get roughly the 5 hours listed although I'm never planning to exercise or do prolonged workout for more than 90 minutes. Excellent Audio: In general, the bass is solid, and there is clear distinction in the different characteristics of various songs that I listened to. As a owner of Sony Home Audio product, I was interested in integration of the 360 Reality Audio. Fortunately, I can say that impressed. It doesn't compare to an entire audio system, but the listening experience overall is quite pleasing. Great Ambient Mode: There are times when I want to I want to filter in some environmental noise and the LinkBuds Fit do that well. With the app, I'm able to toggle and set levels without issue. Other highlights: The microphone is very decent. All on the receiving end of my phone calls heard me quite clear. Linking to the app was pretty instant. The software depends on creating the best experience over time so I'm looking forward to the updates and recommendations it presents. I never lost connection throughout the day, and audio switching worked fine in my tests. [CONS] Lack Of Wireless Charging: In 2024, I strongly feel like wireless charging cases should be the new standard. I'm happy that USB C has become widely adopted, but I would prefer not to have another cable running across my desk or nightstand. Lackluster Noise Cancelling: While working out, I could still make out the clanking of dumbbells hitting the floor and machine noise. For me, I'm not as bothered. In most cases, I crank up the volume a bit more as to not disrupt the flow I'm in. The noise cancellation is not terrible, but it isn't great. However, I have yet to find earbuds that can shut down a heavy amount of environmental noise. [CONCLUSION] The Sony LinkBuds Fit are a great pair of in-ear audio accessories that will compliment any active lifestyle. Battery life doesn't last an entire workday, but these are intended activities away from the office. They sound great and never fall out. I would highly recommend.

Whenever I look into some buds, being an Android guy, I am kind of all over the place. Having so many options from so many companies is a good thing in a lot of ways, but in others, it is very much not. I’ve had some I liked, and a lot more I haven’t, and there just always seems to be a thing or two that isn’t quite what I am looking for when I do settle for a pair. That being said, I really like these buds. They more or less have all that I want and come at a good price. They seem to be the ones for me. They are Sony, so I hoped (and expected) a nice build, and they definitely have it. Well-built, with some water/sweat protection, 4 different sized tips, and a great size and to me a very light weight. Most importantly, to me, they fit me very well and are comfortable. Of course, one some base level this is just a matter of my ear shape, but I think they have done a lot here. I have generally had good luck with Sony buds, here as well, but the wings (or whatever they are called) really give a nice feel and fit and hold them in place. While I usually do not really like the feel of these types of things, these are not rigid, rather they are hollow and quite flexible. I don’t think I have seen this approach anywhere else. A bad fit is pretty much a deal breaker for me, but this is not the case here, at all. As for the style? I love it. Plain. Black. “Mostly” matte. That is all I really ever ask for or want. One some level, typical Sony style and I like it. That said, they do offer a few other colors and have a nice selection of covers to do nice customization if you are more adventurous than I am (which you probably are). Sound is excellent. Music is loud, clear, and balanced out of the box. It does have that Sony sound, with some punch to the lows, nice mids, and some very clean vocals. As a whole it is just very pleasing. Using the Sound Connect App you can tune the EQ to get more of a sound you personally like. I messed around and really found an improvement. I think it is definitely worth spending some time here to dial in what you like. There really is a lot to play around with here, and the app is easy to get around and use. Beyond just the music, I found the ANC to be among, if not the, best I have used. I also found the play between that and the Ambient mode to be very good. I still need some more time with them to see what I prefer and when and how to get there, but so far, I really like what I have seen/heard. Lastly, I am very impressed with the call quality. I don’t “usually” make/take a lot of calls this way, but I can see myself doing it more with these. All in all, I am very pleased with the sound. I think it is great sound for the price. As with calls, I typically haven’t been a big touch control person. I have mostly found them to be somewhat unreliable, or at the very least annoyingly inconsistent. While I am still getting myself into that mode, I’ve been encouraged so far. I really like the wide area tap concept. It is a lot easier to hit a spot in front of my ear than the bud itself. I have been a bit hit and miss, but I think that is more me error at this point. Time will tell, but I think the implementation is cool. Battery life has been…good. I guess it really has been fine, but it seems a tick below what I have been used to. That said, for my use cases it is a non-issue. Between the battery, the case, and the 5-minute charge giving an hour of playtime I just won’t have a problem. Of course, that may not be the case for everyone. I should also mention the case itself. I really do not “love” it. It is kind of big and kind of an odd shape. I am not really a wireless charging person, but it would also be nice to have that functionality here. By no means deal breakers for me, but something to note. Lastly, like the covers for the buds themselves, you can also get different colored ones for the cases. They are pretty affordable and are a nice touch. Lastly, I want to note how wonderful paring is. I know, at this point it is somewhat of a given, but with fast pair it is just so quick and easy. Beyond that though, having the multipoint functionality is a great add. Just a nice convenience. Ultimately, as I said earlier, I really like these buds. They come from a reputable name, fit very well, are comfortable, sound great, look good, and come at a nice price. The hold up very well to the XM5s and I think they are a great value.

Hi skylog, Thank you for your detailed and excellent review of the Sony Linkbuds Fit earbuds! We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate the sound quality, customization options, and the functionality of the Sound Connect App. It's great to know that the ANC and Ambient modes have met your expectations and that the call quality has impressed you.

We understand your concerns about the battery life and the case design. While the battery life seems to be adequate for your needs, we acknowledge that it might not be the same for everyone. Your feedback on the case size and the lack of wireless charging is valuable, and we will consider it for future improvements.

We're glad that the pairing process and multipoint functionality have added convenience to your experience. Your positive comments about the touch controls and the wide area tap concept are encouraging, and we hope that with more use, you will find them even more reliable.

Thank you for choosing Sony and for sharing your insights! -Sam Sony_US

The Sony Linkbuds Fit are a very comfortable pair of ear buds. They have unique hollow support piece that do not create any friction or pressure on the ear. They come with many ear tips in the box to get the correct fit. The ambient sound and active noise cancelling are very good in these ear buds. I was quite surprised how well the noise cancelling worked and would put it on the same level as the most popular ear buds out there. The sound is great, as is expected, and can be customized in the Sony app. It has a unique way of doing this - you start listening to audio and then select from different numbers to see which you like best. Then there is another set of numbers after that - where each selection is slightly different. Selecting the sound you like best and you have just built a custom eq! For phone\video calls, the quality is great. The microphones are crisp and clear and work well to filter out background noise. This worked great in noisy environments where the person on the other end of the call had no idea I was in such a noisy place. One of the unique features of the Linkbuds Fit is that you can control them without tapping the earbuds. You simply tap in front of your ear. You can also adjust the sensitivity of this, but it worked out of the box for me. This is great because you don’t need to touch the earbuds to control them. You can also control them with head gestures - for example nodding to accept a call. The background music effect is also very cool. It makes it sound like the sound is around you, rather than in your head. This is great for concentration and focus. It has fast pair for Android devices, and worked quite well with a Pixel phone. Pairing on iOS can be done through the Sony app, or through the bluetooth settings. Battery life is just OK for me. 5.5 hours and up to 21 hours with the case. It is nice that the case can charge for an hour of playback in 5 minutes. The case does not wireless charge. The charing case is a unique design and I like that you can get other colors for it. It does stand out as something different and is much smaller than I expected it to be. These are great ear buds for comfort and sound quality, with some unique features - the tapping in front of your ear and the background effect. I like that they have all features on Android and iOS too, so you aren’t trapped into an OS just to get certain features.

These are the successor or a sibling of the Linkbuds S basically. They are active noise cancellation earbuds that are a step below of Sony's flagship WF-1000XM5's earbuds. They share the integrated V2 chip and the same Dynamic driver for the ANC and sound quality. What's missing is the QN2E chip that is in the 1000XM5 earbuds. So the ANC is a tad worse but at a much cheaper price. Inside the box: Short USB c cable Case Earbuds Tips in XS,S,M,L size These earbuds are rated for 5.5 hours of listening and 21 hours with the case. I would say this might be true if you don't use LDAC codec and DSEE off. These do suffer in battery life using LDAC compared to ACC but that's true with every headphone using LDAC. Sound wise these sound great. It also has an equalizer so you can refine the sound to your liking. This also debuts with a new refined app that works great. It shows a lot of the old app in the device details but the main page of it is better . Shows up your battery life and some features like equalizer and some other stuff. As far as the ANC goes if you like the WF-1000XM5 these are like 95% as good as those.
