I needed no gym headphones and these were top contender's. I excitedly took them out of the package, found the right tips, and downloaded the app. The fit was incredible! Easily some of the absolutely most comfortable earbuds I've tried. Small size, incredibly light, just comfy. Even with the earbuds setting up I was happy enough with the passive noise cancellation, and the anc for the gym is adequate. The options in the app provide a good amount of flexibility. Unfortunately things took a drastic departure into getting returned once I tried using them. The sound quality was good. I'm not going to give too much of an opinion about on call quality because it didn't matter, the controls are terrible. I hate to say this, they downright suck. The tap to change anything, double tap or triple tap, simply does not work. I watched videos. I looked up help documents. For me they were unusable. If you don't rely on onboard controls I would recommend, but for me at the gym or running I don't want to always have to pull out my phone.

Regarding the Wide Area Tap function, which allows users to control their earbuds by tapping their earlobes, we recognize that it can be a bit tricky for some individuals. Fortunately, you can customize this feature using the Sony | Sound Connect app. Here’s how to adjust the Wide Area Tap function:
1. Open the Sony | Sound Connect app.
2. Select the System tab.
3. Modify the settings to better align with your preferences.

If the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not worn properly in your ears, tap operations or Speak-to-Chat speech detection may not work correctly, or you may not obtain the correct sound qualities, noise canceling effects, or call performance.

Not great for noise canceling

A couple of things you can try to get the most out of the noise cancelling:
-Make sure the earbuds fit snugly in your ears. Sometimes just switching to a different size of the included ear tips can make a big difference.
-Check the Sony | Sound Connect app for any firmware updates or noise cancelling settings you can change. The app also has an Adaptive Sound Control feature that might help in noisy environments.
Give those recommendations a try!
