Bought these for my wife. Very solid earbuds that are lightweight and extremely comfortable. One of my wife's biggest complaints is some of the connections with her iphone--her phone doesn't always connect to the earbuds when she is answering her phone while listening to music or audiobook. I tried these out as well and came very close to purchasing a pair for myself. Sound is GREAT with solid noise cancellation (better than those iphone products with the highest reviews--at least that is based on my experience with both). Fantastic microphone with phone calls as well. I was very impressed that these small LinkBuds S sound incredibly similar to my XM1004 over the ear headphones. Well done Sony!

Hi Dadof3inGA, Thanks for sharing your experience with the new Sony LinkBuds S Wireless earphones. Smart features and settings learn from your behavior and automatically adjust sound settings to provide the right sound for the moment. With an IPX4 water resistance rating, splashes and sweat won’t stop these Sony earbuds so you can keep on moving to the music. A newly developed 5mm driver unit, featuring a high-compliance diaphragm, helps keep the LinkBuds S small while driving your music with rich low frequency bass sound. Sony’s Integrated Processor V1 improves noise cancellation, enhances sound quality, and reduces distortion. To avoid connectivity issues, please make sure to check or update the software version of the headset with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. Thanks for choosing Sony! -Craig Sony_US

This is a great pair of earbuds and if you could get this when on discouted price (in the $150 range), it is an exceptional value for money. 6 band eq (with clear bass), speak to chat, safe listening monitor , adaptive anc, all are very useful features. I gave it a 4 star for its less battery capacity. Also, I feel it should have either wireless charging or an additional pair of eartips for this price point. (I have a large ear and even its large eartips didn't pass the fit test. I had to buy third-party eartips).

The packaging was small, minimal, compact, and recyclable. The packaging included information papers, different size replaceable ear pieces, and a super short usb-c charge cable, the headphones charge case and the earbuds. Charging It’s nice that they included a charge cable but it is one of the smallest cables I have ever seen, and it is not convenient or worth using. The cable would have to be connected to another device's usb port, or a brick if you already have one. Charging the headphone case by brick would require that the wall outlet would have to be pretty low to the ground or it would leave the headphone case hanging in the air. The best solution is to use an existing cable that you have with a longer length. The headphones are not capable of wireless charging. That is the biggest let down to me. I prefer and would like earbuds to have a wireless charging case, for ease of use with cell phones. I tried on a few charges hoping it would lol but nope. This feature would make them the perfect headphones. I charged the earbuds overnight, the specifications state that zero to full would be three hours. However, I have never had to charge them during the day, my use case lasts for the day and I put them on my monitor overnight. Case The charging case that holds the buds themselves is extremely light. The shape of the case is narrow and a bit long but just big enough to house the buds does not have any extra size to it. It does not take up excessive space in the pocket. The case is not smooth; it has a texture to it which helps keep it from being slippery and sliding out of your hands. I’ve not dropped the case yet. The texture also helps keep the case from looking all scratched up from items in your pocket. Or getting the greasy oily spots from the oil from your hands. I actually love the texture and think its a nice touch. Buds The buds are light and not heavy. I normally get ear fatigue pretty quickly from buds due to weight but have not experienced that as of yet. They fit pretty snuggly in the ear. The shape is great. When putting them in I notice that they suction in a bit more on their own to seal off. They have stayed put once in, they haven't fallen out or come loose. They can be worn left or right ear or both. I tend to do one at a time to extend the use time and switch out one and charge the other. The touch controls are super responsive, both on a call and while listening to music or watching a video. The pause and play regular tap did not require an extra touch it recognized the tap right away and also paused the video when taking the earbud out of the ear. Syncing the buds with the headphones required for me to use the sony app on my iphone prior to getting them to show up The button on the back of the case had to be held for about 7 seconds to put them in pairing mode. Once doing that synch process was fairly simple. Noise canceling worked as expected. I am not always the biggest fan of the feature since I always like to be aware of my surroundings plus at work i need to hear people without having to ask them to start over. Aslo why I tend to only have one bud in at a time. However for those that need it does the job. My main thing is call quality for meetings. This tends to be a pet peeve of mine with headphones. On the listening side the voices come through loud and clear, crsp. As for on the other end, call quality for the listener it came out pretty good. It's not the best but I am happy with it and gives me another option for headphones to use for meetings. It did not sound muffled and I felt comfortable to use them without worrying about the listener not being able to understand me. Video audio quality was good, just the same as watching movies. For Music, these are not for audiophiles. Now for the everyday, multipurpose user. Yes the music sounded clear and crisp with the right amount of bass. Definitely not base heavy. You can hear the highs, mids and lows all evenly distributed. Which works great for me. I like listening to the music and lyrics and not having the base roaring and distorting the song. Skipping the next track was quick and responsive with the double tap. Holding the left heat let’s you quickly lower the volume to hear someone talk to you with the music still playing very quietly in the background. Headphone app The sony headphone app is basic. The app is used for syncing and shows your ear buds individual battery level and marks if its the left or right bud. For the case you have to i orally hit show to display the case battery level. Here you can control the track playing as well and shows weather adaptive sound control is active , it also allows for you to turn off or on the actions detection, and has an option to switch based on locations you register in the app. There is a tab that has sound, ambient sound , noise canceling and changing levels of the ambient sound or turning the feature off. The ambient opinion has a check box to focus on voice and suppress noice. Speak to chat and the option to tune the equalizer. I don't really mess with this. I use the out of the box setting. Siri worked with the headphones and responded quickly. Quick abscess controls are able to be set up for double/triple tap. There several other things you can tinker with in the app. Everyday headphones to me are ones that can be grab and go. I can use them out of the box without having to fiddle with them, they shouldn't be complicated. But also have options for people who want to tinker with them. I like simple ease of use, all around headphones that can be thrown in my sling bag or pocket. For me I am really happy with the out of the box setting of the linkbuds. And they don't scream look at me. The black is really slick and blends in.I’m really loving them.

I was excited to see a new earbud from Sony after the cool looking last model. However, this is not much of a upgrade. Don't give me wrong, it is a good device and does what it is supposed to do. But, it is not anything new to compete on the current market to make it stand out, Here is my praise, prayers and pass opinions. Praise: Light (like almost nothing in the ear as far as weight) Touch controls are responsive and once you get the sides figured out, you are good. Easy to adjust the sounds to your liking. Like bass, treble, ambient noise, etc) First pairing is quick and almost fool proof. Signal is strong and I have not had any drop outs while in the range they operate in. Case charges about 2x to assist with going all day with occasional removal. Case has slight texture to it, so it is easy to grip when using, Earbuds are magnetically secured into the case, so it will not come out easily when not using them. Earbuds can be use either left or right at one time. Making your listening experience last longer (although only mono, but better that nothing). ANC is epic. it blocks so much when active that I could hear my heartbeat (lol). Conversation mode works great and when I was speaking it was perfect on turning off the audio and made it easy to talk without having to remove them from my ears. Prayers: Longer charge time on the case. The 14 hours charge does give 2x charges, but still not enough for multiday use. Longer play time. The 6 hours is too short for the advertised all day wear statement. I have same size earbuds from someone else that lasts 2x-3X longer on single use than these do. Case is not wireless chargeable. So you have to use a type C cable to juice it up. This is a major strike as everyone else does this already. Limited touch controls unless you want to make accounts for additional settings on microsoft/spotify or the like. I was not able to get any other assistant to load/work except for Alexa (which is not usually on major phones like google or siri) Pass: Only 2 colors of greyish or off white No multipoint access. So I can not use on laptop and answer the phone at same time. Also once I connected to laptop and then turned it off to use the phone, I had to re-sync the Bluetooth each time. Then going back to the laptop, I had to re-sync that as well. So it seems only one connection is remembered and switching does not seem to be possible. So with all that being said, I would recommend this for someone that spends almost all audio time on the phone or laptop as it does have exceptional sound. But the lack of switching or multipoint connections is a deal breaker for me.

I already owned a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro, which are very nice. But the dang things hurt my ears, and do not have the Alexa built-in integration that these Sony LinkBuds offer. I bought them, even though I technically did not need them. I'm not sorry that I did either. Sound is more natural on the Sony's and the comfort is next to none. Plus, I can keep up on my audiobooks totally hands free. The only negative to these ear buds is the case. It feels a bit wobbly at the hinge and does not have wireless charging. To me, this is a unacceptable at this price point, but I still love them.

I’ve owned these for over 6 months now and I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed with these headphones. I didn’t want to buy another pair of AirPod pros as they were 250 at the time so I went and got these which were around 100 at the time. The audio quality on them is pretty great and it’s about on par with the AirPod Pros. Definitely download the app that goes with them so you can get the most out of the headphones. I do wish it had better battery life but the earbuds are still really great overall and I would recommend them to someone who wants something similar to AirPods Pro but doesn’t want to spend that much.

I’ve had these for a month and I really like them! I was looking for a a pair of headphones for running, and so far, they’ve been great on runs. I haven’t done any super long runs, but they are comfortable and stay in. I have small ears and I had to return a pair of Beats headphones because they would hurt. These haven’t hurt at all. They do take some getting use to because they are super light, but I really like that. The carrying case is also really light and easy to take with you.

The Sony LinkBuds are awesome solution to a discrete new way to listen to music all without sacrificing sound quality. The noise canceling technology does a phenomenal job of filtering out unwanted noise while delivering a sound quality that could rival some of the better over the ear designs out there. Out of the box you get everything you need to get you started. Usb-C cable, charging case, earbuds, and different ear tips. They give 4 different ear tip sizes which is a big plus as proper fitment is so vital on in the ear set up. If the buds do not fit proper then sound quality will bleed out and outside noise pollution will bleed in. Full charge of the case took a little under a hour while full charge on the earbuds themselves was done in about 30 mins. Once proper fitment was accomplished and the equalizer dialed in i was impressed with what i received from these buds. The noise suppression and sound quality were almost equal to my Sony over the ear WH-1000XM3. Very little noise pollution got through with noise cancellation set to max settings. Sound quality was so crisp and clean that i could hear every bit of instrument from the deep bass drums up to the high hats. Never once did i feel either one sound over powered another nor were my vocals coming in distorted or filled with cross over noise from the noise cancellation. Through Sony's free Sound app you have access to a few different options. You can set what your action buttons do i.e. single and double tap left ear bud. You also have the ability to adjust your sound quality with the apps own equalizer. But where it really shines is in its different option set ups for noise cancellation. You can turn on 'adaptive sound control' which will track your daily activities via GPS and will learn your patterns and automatically adjust ambient sound control based on whats around you and what activities you are participating in. You also have access to 'Speak-to-Chat' which will pick up when you are talking or if someone is talking directly to you and will turn off noise cancellation in order for you to carry on a conversation. After about 10 seconds or so without talking noise cancellation goes back in to effect. You also have access to 360 spata sound pending the fact that you have a active account with a provider, if not no biggie the app will direct you to a few providers where you can sign up. Prices will vary. Sony has come a long way with the technology in their earbud sets. This has to be one of the best sounding in the ear buds i have ever heard or owned hands down. At the price point these ear buds come in at i feel it is worth it given everything you get from the earbuds and app. One side note to mention about these ear buds is that i would not recommend them to sleep in. The earbuds are very uncomfortable when laying down and if you are looking for a earbud set up you can sleep in while playing white noise to help you sleep i would say you need to pass on this setup and find something else. Other then that this set up is almost guaranteed to please just about most audiophiles out there.

I have earphones from beats and Apple air pods pro 2nd gen, and this pair produces sound better than both, and I'm amazed that it's able to do that with a smaller driver. The app is also pretty good, in that it helps to identify the correct fit silicone tips and even the equalizer in a very scientific way, by measuring the sound pressure. Noise cancellation doesn't match Bose or Sony's over the head models, but it's still very effective and helps me reduce the volume while still delivering the same sound pressure, easing the ears. Transparency modes are also very effective and rather than being just a toggle, it offers several levels, which is super useful in the various contexts that its AI takes care of setting. One star is taken for the fit. Sure, the app helps me identify the right silicone tip for my ear, however, it doesn't stay so well on my ears if I smile couple of times with it on or do workouts. That's where the comma shape of the Apple air pods does a better job in staying fit for long hours in the ears.

First off these lil guys have impressed me beyond belief. The options and different modes you can put them in make them excellent to be in a noisey area and you can have a normal conversation with the person right next to you. Sound quality is excellent for music and it will adapt to your ear shape and size so you won't even know you wearing them. not to bulky but are heavy enough that they can be knocked out. I wouldn't recommend for using them during high activity events but that my personal opinion I may have akward shaped ears I know I've never really found the perfect fit ear buds wired or wireless that's the star missing my problem. My favorite feature is the adjustable range sound dampening. Yeah you get to choose how far you wanna hear. Cool people 5 feet away and annoying guy 20 feet away you can delete the annoying guy. It is actual selective hearing. If your thinking of buying them definitely do it. There top tier and will have even more then what I'm describing with the constant updates.

Up until purchasing this pair of LinkBuds S earbuds, I have been on a desperate hunt for some sleek, truly wireless earbuds that actually cooperate with my ears since having been disappointed by the first and second generation AirPods Pros. The AirPods Pros, for context, have consistently irritated my ears during use, hypothetically due to something in the material composition that triggers severe reactions within my ear canals. This issue has been heavily documented across multiple popular online forums, including Apple's own discussion forums, and unfortunately Apple has done nothing to address this issue, even after having released a second iteration, so it was time to move on. I took a break from earbuds in general and settled with the Sony WH-1000XM4s for a bit, which were refreshing. Now, entering the realm of the LinkBuds S. My motivation in trying these out was getting the same Sony quality with the XM4s, but in a smaller sleeker package that HOPEFULLY doesn't aggravate my ears, and honestly I'm glad I've given these a chance. So far, these earbuds have been really good in the sound quality and noise cancelling department, and more importantly, have been immensely comfortable to wear in my ears for long music listening sessions. The battery life has also been really good. My only minor complaint is that the LinkBuds from time to time may have moments where the audio stutters, presumably due to Bluetooth signal strength, but 99% of the time it maintains a stable connection so I wouldn't let this discourage you from buying the LinkBuds. Ultimately, these earbuds are worth it. Giving these a 5 star rating; these aren't even the flagship WF-1000XM4 earbuds, yet they smoke the AirPods Pros. Insanely good value, especially with the sale going on at the time of writing for $50 off, highly recommend picking these up if you're on the decisionmaking fence.

Let’s talk about my new Sony LinkBuds S. I don’t have any Sony earbuds, these are my first, but I understand that there are other versions. I have the Sony over-ear (WH-1000XM4s), so I can refer to those here. There are a lot of cool things about the LInkBuds S. They are made of recycled plastic, including the case. The packaging is completely plastic free, as shown in my picture. It’s a cute origami type box with a little drawer for three silicone ear tip sizes (size M is already on the LinkBuds in the case), and a cute USB-A to USB-C cord to charge with. These earbuds do not charge wirelessly. That is not a negative for me as I plug in to charge everything I own, I guess I’m behind the times. The use time on these is six hours. That’s a really good length of time, compared to my Apple AirPods. Sony has a really good app for controlling your earbuds and headphones. I already had it, but updated it to be able to control my new LinkBuds S. You can control the sound with an equalizer on the app. I’m not an audiophile, so I don’t know how to really fine tune the sound, but it’s there for those of you who know what you’re doing. There is a Speak-to-Chat option that I toggle between. When working out with the LinkBuds S, I turn it off, because any loud-ish sound pauses the audio. If you clank your dumbbells or grunt, that will pause the audio. I like the option when I’m just wearing them around my family. As soon as I talk, the audio pauses. If it’s a really quick “no” or something, I just tap the earbud and the audio starts again. Otherwise it will be several seconds before it recognizes that it’s quiet and it will re-start. These are pretty easy to use, and there is a lot of information on the app on how to utilize the features. Speaking of working out, these are IPX4 water resistant. I wore these when I rode my spin bike and didn’t have any problems. With four earbud tips to choose from, and a way to test which one fits you best on the app, they fit very nicely. I have small ears so I appreciate that the sizes are SS, S, presumably M, and LL. They all have a different color inner rubber-attaching post, the part that attaches to your earbud. That makes it easier to tell which ones belong together as mine are all black and don’t look all that different. There is noise canceling with the LinkBuds S, but it is nothing like the over-ear Sonys. I am pretty sensitive to annoying sounds; ice maker machine, other people’s gardeners outside, other people’s dogs barking, that sort of thing. The over-ear ones can drown out these noises if I’m listening to something. The LinkBuds S, not completely. But they are much better than the Apple AirPods. There are many other features, but I don’t utilize them (OK Google, Alexa, etc.) so check these out if you’re into all of the features. Hopefully in time I will use more of the features but for now, I’m just happy with them as I have been using them.

This is my second pair of Sony Linkbuds S headphones. My first pair in white, couldn't hold a charge after over 2 years of regular use, which is pretty impressive. I mostly connect them through my Sony Xperia 5 III Smartphone because they both support LDAC, Sony's proprietary lossless digital audio codec. But be warned, for some reason the Desert Sand version DOES NOT SUPPORT LDAC. This is not marked in any spec sheets that I have found. Just a peculiar difference that was disappointing. but headphones still function great and are very light and comfortable to wear. Great buy for True Wireless buds.

This is my first Sony earbuds and I am surprised that it was really good for the music and I can use them to talk with no echoing. The battery only last 3-4 hours instead as advertised as 6 hours The connection is really easy and no hassle The only problem that I have is that I don’t know which is which to tap to play and I have to grab my phone for that functionality. The other reason is that the size of my ear lobes, I already uses the smallest silicon still it is not fitting me good. My guess is that they are fitting and remodeled this kind of earbuds, not to Asian decent. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

Great comfort, noise cancelling, and sound quality. In all of those aspects they are better than my old Airpod Pros. Actually, the sound quality might be very similar and it comes down to the EQ profile Only thing that bugs me is how easily the buttons are activated. It sucks when you're mowing the lawn and transparent mode is turned because your shoulder touched them when you're trying to wipe your sweat. Or when you're falling asleep with them on and they touch the pillow the wrong way, so transparent mode turns on and you can hear the fan but like 3x louder than without headphones on. Also I wish they had wireless charging! Say what you want about Apple, but I never accidentally activated my Airpod Pros. I wouldn't buy them again, but I do miss physical "button"

      Hi there,

Thank you for your review. While we are glad that you are satisfied with the comfortable fit design, fantastic noise canceling feature, and amazing sound quality of our LinkBuds S, we are sorry if you are having an issue with the touch sensor. We are also sorry if the supplied case doesn't support wireless chargers. A rechargeable battery is built into the charging case. If you charge the charging case in advance, it can charge the LinkBuds wirelessly. As part of normal operation, charging is supported only by using a personal computer with a standard USB port or a commercially available USB AC adaptor capable of supplying an output current of 0.5 A (500 mA) or more.

For the touch sensor, you can actually change the function assignments to the touch sensors of the left and right units using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. For example, the music playback function that is assigned to the touch sensor of the right unit in the factory settings can be changed to the touch sensor of the left unit. You can also change the settings that do not assign the music playback function, noise canceling function, Ambient Sound Mode and playback volume adjustment function, etc. For reference, you may refer to the following links:

The Sony LinkBuds S True Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds come with a case that charges them. The earbuds, a cable to charge the case, and different size ear bud covers. Syncing to my phone after downloading the app was no problem. The syncing took place failry quickly. The app guides you on how to set up the earbuds. Some of the features include the app being able to determine your surroundings to adjust the sound of the earbuds. When enabling the features of the app, the app has the ability to track your music preference, the areas you tend to use your earbuds to adjust to the surroundings. This helps in making sure noise is canceled out. The earbuds have 360 real audio which allows you to have a better experience when listening to music. Downloaded the 360 app. Sony provides about 4 different choices of where to stream music. I selected the Amazon one. The music sounded clear, and the acoustics were very good. Tested the ear buds at home and outside. Pros: Covenient chargable case Magnetic Earbuds Extra earbud covers Sound quality Fits comfortably in the ear App guides you on setup and can tell when your in different environments. Cons: I could not find any negative to say at this time.

Bought as a gift for my deployed army daughter. Best Buy shipped them to Honduras with no snafu. She loves them. Connected quickly to her iPhone. Sound quality and noise cancelling are excellent. Stay in her ears during strenuous workouts. Gave four stars because they quit working after 9 months. Apple quickly replaced them.

An “Us Gift” from the Wife at Christmas

After buying and returning many earbuds - some from bad fit, others for sound quality and others for poor noise cancellation - my wife, upon my request after much research, got me these for Christmas. Fit and sound quality can be very subjective. These fit me great and come with 4 tips sizes to fit others great (they did not fit her). Sound quality for me is great, very clear and pretty bright with good bass. Best earbud sound for my preference comes from Creative Outlier Air V3 (I like better than the newer Outlier Pros). Outlier Air V3 and Pro noise canceling for the call receiver/listener (wife) is very bad. Enter the “Us Gift” (Sony Link Buds S), because I want people to enjoy talking to me on the phone and not cringe every few seconds, counting the seconds for the call to be over. I tend to work in extremely noisy outdoor environments and these earbuds cut all the excessive, very loud background noises (loud trucks, horns, traffic, etc.) making my calls so much more enjoyable. People aren’t trying to rush me off the phone because of the piercing sounds coming through the phone. Now it’s just pleasant conversation - and I also have no problems hearing them in these environments as well. All around - me, my friends, and most importantly - my wife are so much happier now that I have these earbuds. I cannot recommend them enough to anyone who works in loud environments and needs great noise cancellation. They ARE worth it!
