We're so sorry to hear if an earache occurs when putting on our WF-L900 LinkBuds. This is definitely not the customer experience we want you to have. The LinkBuds may fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.
• If you feel the size of the fitting supporters does not fit your ears, change the fitting supporters to another size that fits your ears better. The size of the left and right fitting supporters may be different.
• Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears.
• If you wear the headset for a long time, your ears may start hurting. Use the headset while taking breaks periodically.
We have a recommended way of wearing these open-ear headphones. They also come with different sizes of fitting supporters. We highly recommend choosing the right size of supporters according to the size of your ears. Please make sure to follow the guide from this link:

Otherwise, charging may not be successful or not be completed. You may also consider checking the ear fitting supporters of the earbuds. If the ear fitting supports are not properly attached, the charging case and earbuds cannot contact one another, and the charging may fail. Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The sound is great and I like the feature that lets you tap your face to turn it on or off, but they are way too big to fit in my ear. Wearing them for 3 hours brought pain and swelling. I know that you can change out the rubber band for a smaller size but the issue is the portion where the sound comes out. They also don’t let you play anything unless both earbuds are in your ear. If one is in the case or in your hand it won’t play anything. The battery only lasts you around five hours, and while they do charge up pretty fast it’s still annoying. If you have small ears I would not recommend, I ended up returning them.

Very enjoyable for their intended purpose
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My initial impression of these was that they looked goofy and there was no way they could possibly stack up against some of the top earbuds out there in terms of sound quality, features or comfort. I am happy to admit that I was wrong and after using these earbuds on a daily basis, I find that I am enjoying them more and more. Let me just say, these are not for audiophiles who want deep booming bass and an immersive soundstage. These are for people who want to be able to enjoy music or podcasts while also taking calls and being able to have conversations and hear the outside world, all without having to take your earbuds out or fiddle with tap controls. The sound is respectable but I found that hip-hop or anything bass heavy felt flat. Country and Classic Rock actually sounded pretty good and a lot of that sound depended on the streaming service and settings for HD or lower quality. Also, you can make a few tweaks to the EQ in the Sony app along with prioritizing sound quality in bluetooth settings that made a difference in my experience. Once you find the right silicone tip to make these fit your ears, you hardly notice them they're so light. Note: one ear might need a different size tip than the other ear. I love that when you start talking, they automatically pause the music and you can talk and hear the other person with no issues and no need to touch anything. Music will automatically resume shortly after you're done depending on the delay you set. I'm also loving the wide area tapping where you can tap just in front of your ear for various functions and I hope other earbuds start incorporating something similar because it's so much easier when you're on the move than trying to hit the earbud in the right spot. On calls, sound quality is excellent and noise cancellation was solid for the people on the other end. I had no issues with connections to my Pixel phone or my laptop. There was an update that Sony just pushed out that may have corrected some of the bugs noted in very early reviews. The case is a little flimsy but I appreciate the sustainable aspect of the materials and it is compact and not unattractive so while I wish the top had a little more spring to it, it's a minor issue at best. If you're looking for something to block the world out on a commute or when traveling on a plane, these are not for you. I have other earbuds for traveling that have ANC and a better soundstage. However, these are now my daily driver for being able to enjoy some music while not shutting out the world around me. Taking the dog for a walk is more enjoyable because I can hear cars and other things going on around me. Just overall, it's nice to not have the pressure of something in your ear, and be able to enjoy music and calls while keeping your awareness. As more and more offices go to "shared space" or "flex space", these are a great option to be able to listen to music and still collaborate on the fly. I'd like to see the price point a little lower, but there will be sales at some point during the year so just keep an eye on it if you're interested. I'll be curious to see where Sony takes this design and technology in the future. This is a great idea that is well executed for it's intended purpose. Very comfortable to wear for extended periods with nice features and the ability to easily hear the world around you while you listen to some music. If that's what you're looking for, these are the earbuds for you.

Battery problems

This is my second pair, but after two years of daily use the right earbud stars having battery and charging issues on both my old pair and it just started the same issue on my current pair. The right bud will die over night after charging to 100% before going to sleep. It will also drain to less than 20% while the left is still over 90% after a full charge. Reseting the buds and case did not solve the problems. $170 is alot of money to only last 2 yrs. If it were not for battery problems Id give these 5 stars cause they sound great if your not trying to thump bass, and they allow for hearing your surrounding with out the electronic pass through sound quality and delay. They have been great for biking and walking. At work, being able to listen to music on my phone then seemlessly jump to a Zoom meeting on my laptop is a great feature. But after my second pair I dont feel like Im getting my money out of them before they go bad. I may try them one more time this time with an extended warranty.

Been on a long-time search for an alternative to "suction cup" earbuds that I could reliably wear cycling and didn't come with ear clamps, a head-wrap, or other vestigial doodad to keep them from skittering away. Spatial awareness was also key. These are very light and proved reliably secure during several house or cycling/walking around NYC this weekend. A few observations: 1) Initially, I fell back on old habits and kept trying to jam the buds as far into my ear canal as I could, which is exactly the wrong approach; I quickly figured out that I don't need to "feel" them pressing against my ear for them to be securely fit. A "barely aware" sensation tells me they're seated properly. 2) Once seated properly, they simply aren't "there" unless you're listening to them. Absolutely fantastic. 3) Phone calls are very clear on both ends. 4) Wide are tap is pretty terrific. As noted elsewhere, you can tap anywhere within 1-2" of your ear to activate. My right ear is for start/stop/skip; my left year summons Siri. 5) I can't emphasize how terrific it is to have ambient music/phone while remaining completely connected to the outside world. While I'm generally an AR skeptic, I will say that if it ever works, it'll be based on exactly this design philosophy. It's far better than the synthesized solutions currently on the market. 6) These are NOT close-out-the-outside-world earbuds. Don't expect to "lose yourself" in what you're listening to: loud outside noises get in and the lack of that "suction" seal means you don't get to blast your eardrum with pseudo bass. But because I'll be wearing these when I'm actually out and about, this is a GREAT thing. I've got other cans for when I get home or commuting. 7) They're "loud" but not LOUD if you get what I mean. There's little meaningful bass but the overall soundstage is balanced and customizable (almost to a fault, which Sony's always done). 8) Sans case, the battery life is good not great. With the case, there's plenty of juice to get through a day.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The fact that the Sony “Linkbuds” are the opposite of most other ear buds sold today, is what makes them so great for jogging or whenever you need to hear the “outside world” in addition to your music. Many of the newer buds are ‘noise cancelling.’ Sony makes a great model, the WF-1000XM4. I have them and love them. They’re great on airplanes, the outside noise is muted well and your music sounds great. But now let’s say you’re jogging. You need to be aware of noises around you. Vehicles, people, etc. To be safe, you need to hear your surroundings in addition to your music, and that’s where these ear buds SHINE. They let you hear everything going on around you, even the birds, I noticed, and your music still sounds great. The secret is the shape of the earbuds. They are circular with a hole in the middle, letting in the outside world. They’re very lightweight and easy to wear. The sound is very clean and bright. You don’t have the bass you’d have with those other noise cancelling buds, but you don’t have them plugging up your ears the way you’d need to have when wearing them. The only trick is you don’t just pop them in your ears like other buds. There’s a special way to wear them to create that open effect and yet keep them from falling out of your ears when jogging. It’s not instinctive, but after following the directions and wearing them a few times, I find it’s easy to just pop them in and enjoy the open sound and the comfort of the ‘Linkbuds’ Just a hint, even though it’s not absolutely necessary, be sure to download the free Sony headphone app. It can help teach you how to wear your new buds, as well as change the bass and treble response to your liking. It’s another great feature of the Linkbuds.

Although they have a unique design, they fit comfortably in my ears. Their sound is also pretty good, low end products tend to have sound that is flat but like high end ones, these have that dimensional feel to it, although the base can be a little stronger. Some things that the Linkbuds struggle on are the battery life and volume, but its not to the point where I wouldn't buy these because of it. Other than that the ambient sound is well balanced and the bluetooth/overall tech works very well!

Because they don't insert fully into the ear canal, I didn't think they would produce much bass. They still don't...at least not really, but the sound quality is actually really good, well balanced and not as treble-heavy as I thought they would be. The buds are very light and quite comfortable to keep in your ear. Sony provides 5 different ear cushion sizes and I was able to find the right fit that stayed in my ear. Pros: * Small, good sound - considering they're not fully in-ear. * You can control media by tapping your head near your ear instead of tapping the buds themselves. * Hearing the sound around you works really well. When nothing is playing, you forget the buds are in your ear. I could hear everything around me with no issues. But note: While listening to content, I had to keep the volume lower in order to hear external sounds. The higher the volume, the harder it was to hear what was around me. This is actually a good thing, in my opinion. Cons: * External sounds had a tendency to wash out what I was listening to when I was outdoors - even with the volume turned up. * No wireless charging. * Not enough bass (but still not bad considering they're not in the ear canal.) I'm actually pretty bummed that the case does not have wireless charging, using only a USB-C plug to charge. Of course, there's also software to install on your phone. It doesn't put any weird restrictions on playing content, but is more towards configuration the LinkBuds and updating firmware. For what the LinkBuds set out to do, it does it well.
