Great quality overall
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't think this earset is designed for high fidelity. I believe they were made for the do-ers; People on the go. However, they are the best earsets* (ear donuts? They've got no "buds", best I've got is easets) I've ever used. Users are complaining about volume, this may be because of the default settings. You want to turn off adapive volume control, turn on DSEE, and ensure the connection is set to high quality. Initial impressions are good bass, simi low highs, and mids are good (there is a built in equilizer) . The biggest thing I like is the sound stage, there is something more than stereo going on... It's not like surround sound, but more 3D? Idk. The primary feature going for these buds are the unconventional ear piece shape. As far as I'm concerned, they work. I can carry a conversation with the set volume low. I'm gonna love these earsets for work, where I'm going to need to be attentive. The low profile with my big ears are gonna make these my primary sleep earsets. Lastly, I noticed other people are having an issue with uncomfortability. I personally find them more comfortable than my pixel buds. I think this is the primary downside. The smaller the ear, the more cumbersome these donuts may be. I can't vouch for this because I haven't seen anyone wear these things other than Linus from Linis Techtips. He's got a smaller head and it seemed to fit him fine. (TLDR, I've got a big head, I've got the large ear wings on the donuts, I really like these things.)

Posted .Hi TechMeyer, Thank you for taking the time to review the WFL900. Adaptive Volume Control is a smart function that automatically optimizes volume based on where you are. Enjoy lower volume in quiet places and higher volume in noisier environments. Set the function to “ON” from the Sony | Headphones Connect app. Enjoy well-balanced, high-quality sound with a clear mid-high range. Our Integrated Processor V1 reproduces all the detail in your music with minimal distortion for an authentic listening experience. A specially designed 12 mm ring driver with high-compliance (low-recoil) diaphragm provides rich, well-balanced sound. Thanks for choosing Sony. Jay

Mmmmm...donut
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm starting to amass quite a collection of true wireless earbuds and these are by far the most unique and quite possibly my favorite. The first thing you'll probably notice is that the don't look like any other wireless earbuds on the market. They have two sections, one bulbous part and an attached "donut." The donut sits over the opening of your ear canal, and the hole in the middle allows outside sound in so you can be aware of your surroundings. Outside noise and conversations sound natural, unlike using the ambient sound settings on some noise cancelling headphones. The drivers sit on the outside of the opening and do not have tips that go into the ear canal like most earbuds. While there is some trade-off with bass response (most earbuds need a good seal to produce bass) these do a pretty good job of producing bass. Just don't expect a strong "kick" or any kind of sub bass. The other interesting thing about the drivers sitting outside the ears is that these haver a similar soundstage to open back headphones. If you're a fan of the wider open-back sound these are worth a try since they have an "airy" quality to them that makes vocals shine. Try the beginning of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" to really understand the difference. Pairing on my Samsung Z Fold 3 was easy using the Sony Headphones app. I have some other Sonys, and these integrated with the app the same way. The app also allows you to set the EQ, pause when they sense you talking and adjust the volume dynamically based on your surroundings. These have the usual tap-to-control scheme with a cool twist. You can either tap the buds themselves or just tap around your ear at the jawline to pause, skip or change volume. It works really well and feels very sci-fi. The case is really small and curved to get in and out of your pocket easily. The lid locks shut and pops open with a button on the front. The buds click into the case to be sure they don't come loose while charging. Also the case charges with USB C, which I always appreciate. It's time for micro USB to die as a charging method! I have the white color, which is a matte white with tiny dark speckles throughout. The buds and case are the same plastic. I would highly recommend these for someone who is into fitness and needs to be able to hear traffic around them while on a run or while biking, or in an office situation where you listen to music but need to hear if someone is speaking to you. You can probably wear these all day an never need to take them out if you're that invested in your music or podcasts. Obviously these are not a good choice for noisy environments like public transit unless you turn them up a bit. At the same time, you definitely won't miss the announcements on the train when you reach your stop!

Don’t fit well and are painful.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really want to like these, but they hurt my ears, one much more than the other. Tied all the fittings, and it’s just difficult to find one that works. XS, and small don’t fit at all. Medium is okay, but I lost one of them. The lager work as well, but hurt my ears. Just can’t find a good fit. After 10 minutes my ears hurt.

Great idea, needs better execution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the concept of these and was excited to give them a try. As others have mentioned they are not comfortable for long periods of time due to the lack of silicone tips and they are prone to slipping out of the ear due to their shape and they don't really "lock" into your ear like other buds do. I'd love to see Sony do a future iteration of these, perhaps where it can use a more traditional silicone tip while still having an open design.

Unique and Powerful!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an electronic consumer who uses headphones and earbuds regularly for multiple purposes, such as work, leisure, and at the gym, having a good, quality product is something that I value. With the Sony LinkBuds, I have never tried "open ear" earbuds before and was initially skeptical of the design and if they would work well. However, Sony really has knocked one out of the park with this product. Right out of the box and out of the earbud charging case, these headphones required no additional app or software to connect to my phone. That may be a phone setting for connecting to Bluetooth devices, but for someone who doesn't like having unnecessary apps or software, I was pleasantly surprised. You also get a very short USB-A to USB-C cable for charging, and multiple LinkBud sizing pieces, just in case you want to find a better fit for your own ears. Additionally, the app does offer different ways to utilize the LinkBuds, such as with 360 Reality Audio. However, you don't have to go through this additional set-up if you don't want to. As far as using the LinkBuds, I have swapped out sizing pieces so they fit my ears well, and tried out them out in different settings. At the gym, they flit comfortably and snug in my ears, so when doing moderate cardio (elliptical or treadmill walking) or lifting weights, they don't fall out. The aspect of this product that stand out the most for me is the sound quality. Listening to music or videos with the LinkBuds is like listening in surround sound. I haven't tested it out with a full-length movie, yet on my phone, but I'd imagine this product will perform exceptionally well as it already has with my other usage. I wouldn't change a thing about this product, and I imagine for the "average" electronic consumer, this product would either meet or exceed their expectations. I am very impressed with the quality of this product so far, and I look forward to using this product for as long as I can. Awesome job, Sony!

unreliable, awful software, range, & battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these for music accompaniment and didn't expect any environmental sound isolation from them. They were adequate for that purpose. Updated their firmware twice, each update took more than four hours. After the last update, the bass driver stopped working. Sony wants to install 3-6 different apps just to use the buds, and each app collects a ton of irrelevant personal data that has nothing to do with their use. A full charge lasted less than 90 minutes, range limited to 60 feet or less.

Sony has a winner!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent earbuds. I was never a fan of the Apple AirPods because I was afraid I would lose them. After awhile ear buds always start hurting my ears or fall out. These fit great. Especially with the different size ear piece to make them fit perfectly in your ears. They come with the medium on. I needed to switch to the small. Fit great and don't giggle around when I walk. Love that I can hear the music but still be aware of my surroundings. I love that the music or other audio pauses when it detects you talking. Gestures are easy to learn and set up on my iPhone 13 was a breeze. Excellent purchase. First time I prefer another brand to Apple.

Posted .Hi JoseM,
We're so sorry to hear if an earache occurs when putting on our WF-L900 LinkBuds. This is definitely not the customer experience we want you to have. The LinkBuds may fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.
• Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears.
• If you feel the size of the fitting supporters does not fit your ears, change the fitting supporters to another size that fits your ears better.
• After attaching the fitting supporter, check that there is no movement on the LinkBuds. (Shake your head back and forth.)
Note: If they fall off or move in your ears when you shake your head, select a different size. The best fitting supporter may be different for each ear.
• If you wear the headset for a long time, your ears may start hurting. Use the headset while taking breaks periodically.

Posted .Hi DaveS,
We're sorry you've been running into difficulty. We'd love to troubleshoot this and make this a better experience for you. Sony LinkBuds are open-ear wireless earbuds that deliver high-quality call and audio with minimal sound leakage. These also do not include the noise canceling feature. However, in a quiet room, some degree of sound leakage may still occur depending on individual factors such as ear shape, fit, and the volume at which you are listening to your music or other audio.
For available operating time of the unit, depending on the settings for the headset functions and usage conditions, the speed of energy consumption for the rechargeable battery may vary between the left and right units. However, this is not a malfunction. For your reference, you may check this link: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000765297.html
To ensure you get the best Bluetooth connection, please set the headphones Bluetooth Connection Mode to “Priority on stable connection”. Check that the touch sensor on the earbud you want to use by itself is set up to support the use of one earbud at a time. For more details, visit this helpful link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-l900/articles/00229345
We also recommended updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. If the headset does not operate correctly or wide area tap works unintentionally, follow these steps to troubleshoot this issue: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000467224.html

Posted .Hi User313131, We regret to hear that your LinkBuds constantly fall out.. Please allow us to help you and turn this to a better experience. If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. • Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears.
• Select a different size fitting supporter and align the protruding part of the LinkBuds with the cutout on the fitting supporter. Make sure to insert the fitting supporter completely.
• After attaching the fitting supporter, check that there is no movement on the LinkBuds. (Shake your head back and forth.)
Note: If they fall off or move in your ears when you shake your head, select a different size. The best fitting supporter may be different for each ear.
