Great for being out and about
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great product as long as the fit is comfortable. The sound is clear yet plain. Not much bass uless they fit ever so perfect and deep in your ear. In which they're not meant to. BUT if wanting an ear piece that keeps u open to your surroundings so that u can take calls, listen mildly to music or video AND have them pauce when u speak, these are CLUTCH. i think the price will be the biggest draw back. Otherwise for an everyday out and about bluetooth, these are great

Thanks for sharing your review and experience with the Sony LinkBuds. Your feedback about the design is greatly appreciated. Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority.
For optimum fit and comfort, it is recommended to wear both earbuds properly. M-sized fitting supporters come attached to the left and right units of the headset at the time of purchase. When the headset is worn and you feel the size of the fitting supporters does not fit your ears, change the fitting supporters to another size to comfortably and snugly fit your left and right ears. Sorely Disappointing for the Price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't want to leave a bad review, however, I feel obligated to say that I've never experienced so many completely odd issues with any wireless earbuds before. The tap controls fire randomly when chewing (which makes sense considering how they function). I've used these in my office linked to my PC and have encountered issues with one or both earbuds. Beyond this, there is often a complete loss of sound quality at times resulting in a very tin can audio quality. Things only get worse when I switch to Bluetooth on my phone, granted my phone isn't the greatest so I assume its Bluetooth adaptor isn't either. But still, for 180 dollars I should not be having connection issues, not to mention the oddest so far. One earbud begins playback about half a second before the other. This issue I've never had in any headphones. The plus side is that I can hear my surroundings quite well at about half volume. The battery life and comfort are very nice as well. The design is on par with any other 200 Dollar headphones. Frankly, I should probably give a 1 Star review but they still work for what I need. Wouldn't recommend to anyone thinking of being actively moving while using them. Compared to the other options at this price point. I've had less confusing and more functional earbuds for 30 dollars or less.

Posted .Hi Caleb,
Thank you for your review.
While we are pleased that you are satisfied with the comfortable fit & open-ring design that naturally blends ambient sound with digital sound and long-lasting battery life of our WF-L900, we are really sorry if you are encountering issues. This is definitely not the experience we wanted you to have on our premium headphones.
For the wide area tap function, the LinkBuds may not operate correctly when a vibration identical to a tap is detected from coughing or the attachment/detachment of accessories around the ears, chewing, etc. When the headset reacts incorrectly, you can use the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app to turn wide area tap off and switch to headset tap.

Thank you for the review and we're glad you like the sound quality of the headphones. Depending on the settings for the headset functions and usage conditions, the speed of energy consumption for the rechargeable battery may vary between the left and right units. However, this is not a malfunction.
NOTE: When you have finished using the headset, be sure to set the headset in the charging case. If the headset is placed in the pockets, etc., the headset recognizes that the headset is worn, and it may turn on by mistake.

Posted .Hi FrankJ,
We're happy that you like these LinkBuds which feature a comfortable open-ring design that naturally blends your online and offline worlds. Glad to know you appreciate the phone call quality that is also noteworthy. We're sorry you've been running into difficulty. We'd love to troubleshoot this and make this a better experience for you. The Sony LinkBuds support the use of one unit by itself. In this case, only the unit that has been removed from the charging case will turn on. Even if you are using only one unit of the headset, you can play music with the unit you are wearing. When Service Link is turned on with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, use the right unit of the headset. You cannot use only the left unit of the headset.
Check that the touch sensor on the earbud you want to use by itself is set up to support the use of one earbud at a time. For more details, visit this helpful link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-l900/articles/00229345

Meh, not my favorite
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually returned these because I didn't love them. I have read glowing reviews, but I have smaller ears and these just didn't work well for my ears. I tend to gravitate towards Bose for sound and comfort, so that may have put them in a deficit from the beginning. The plastic was hard and hurt my ears, and the sound was mediocre to me. It's safe to say that it was not love for me.

Great product with rotten lifespan
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love these. The open-ear design is wonderful for wearing as I go about my day. It really felt magical to be able to hear the world as it is (not through some tinny pass-through speaker, as is the norm now) and then, with a tap, add music or a podcast. They weren't great for noisy environments, but for working at home (and keeping an ear out for cats making mischief) these were perfect. Sadly, after 14 months of daily use, the right earbud battery now drains from full to zero within two hours. The same earbud will also drain while sitting in the charging case leaving the earbuds unusable unless the case has also been plugged in overnight. The left earbud remains unaffected - it is still over 80% charged when the right has dropped to 20%. This is actually my second pair of LinkBuds to go out this way. My previous pair died in Feb 2023 (again after about 14 months of daily use). Since those, like these, were just out of warranty when they failed, I purchased them again in the hope that my first pair was a fluke or suffered a bad firmware update. I never updated my second pair, but it still suffered the same battery issue. Regular battery degradation I can understand, but this is not the slow reduction in life I would normally expect. Seemingly overnight, the right earbud began exhibiting this behavior. Given that (1) this happened to two separate pairs over the same timeframe, (2) this seems to affect other reviewers, and (3) Sony has offered no fix or explaination... call me suspicious. While they worked, I loved these earbuds, but this experience has really soured my view of Sony. I won't be buying earbuds from them again.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For purposes of comparison what I am looking to upgrade is my daily listening from my AfterShokz Aeropex. I adore those for podcasts and meetings. Here is the thing, the music experience with the AfterShokz isn't that great. Enter the LinkBuds, I can still hear everything going on but now the music is killer too. I am super impressed. Don't get me wrong they aren't ear blasting loud but they are crystal clear as you would expect from Sony. But there are trade offs, they are super small so they lack all day battery life.

Both Headphones Broke Within 5 Uses.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Both headphones broke within 5 uses. Right head phone had connection problems from the 3rd use, had to take both headphones out and put them back into the case multiple times to reset them to get the right headphone to connect. On the 4th use the right headphone wouldn't connect at all no matter how many times I reset them so I just used the left head phone by itself. On the 5th use I tried both headphones again and again, only the left headphone would connect then I noticed the right headphone was cracked around the main seam when I took it out of my ear. I put both headphones back in the case to try and reset them again and when I pulled the left headphone out I could feel the headphone crack and split in half. The left side cracked even worse than the right side did and the whole earbud came apart in two separate pieces held together by a small strip of metal. Obviously neither headphone works anymore. Sony refuses to warranty the headphones because it's "damage", damage caused by their bad QC and materials. I've found at least 5 other reviews mentioning earbuds cracking in half in 15 minutes of searching online so it's not an isolated issue. These headphones and the associated software that you have to download to use them are junk.

Posted .Hi Toa95,
While we're glad that you appreciate the unique open-ring design, we regret to know that you're having issues, particularly with the fit of the unit. The LinkBuds may fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.
Medium-sized (M) ear fitting supporters are attached to the LinkBuds at the time of the purchase. If they are too big or too small, select a different fitting supporter to help the LinkBuds fit better and feel more comfortable. We recommend starting with the larger sizes and working your way down to the smaller sizes until you find the best fit. Nice buds with some issues.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really did love these buds but the design of either my ears or them just dont mix. I had swapped out the rubber ends to see if they would help but they never did, they'd rub up against my inner ear and then begin to make it feel very sore. But besides comfortability not being great, these were really good passthrough earbuds. The sound isn't amazing like the XM4s, or XM5s, but they get the job done when doing light listening to podcasts or something more vocal. The open back design is honestly my favorite as well since you wouldn't have to deal with the microphone filtered audio of your surroundings like other earbuds. I will also so my buds had issues charging after use sometimes even after id make sure to clean them and the inside of the case of any oils or moisture so id also be careful on that end when putting them back in the case. Otherwise, these are nice "gimmick" earbuds, recommend them if they're on sale like they usually are.

Hurt My Ears
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought these yesterday and planned on putting them through their paces today. I had a couple zoom meetings early and then some podcast time. I wore these today for about 2 1/2-3 hours total. Honestly that's all I could do. These hurt my ears too much to continue wearing them. I tried all the included ear wings to no avail. I have fairly large ears and I have never had earbuds hurt my ears before. I can say that the left bud fit better than the right so maybe if you only need to wear one these would work for you? I own quite a few different earbuds and I find these to be the most uncomfortable to wear. I wish that wasn't the case as I really liked the idea behind these. In a working environment where I need to be able to hear my coworkers but would also like to listen to podcasts, these seemed perfect. Oh well, maybe version 2.0 will work out the fit on these.

Posted .Hi HurtMyEars, We regret to hear you find the Sony Linkbuds uncomfortable to wear and it had to be returned. If changing the fitting supporters to another size still hurts your ears, then this might not be the suitable earbuds for you. If you're looking for a replacement, I'd highly recommend checking out our other truly wireless earbuds. You may visit this link from our website for more information: https://electronics.sony.com/audio/headphones/c/truly-wireless
