    I wanted to like these

I badly wanted to like these as I love the concept of being able to hear what's going on around you.i waited for months to find them in sale and even then they certainly weren't cheap. While the design to allow for hearing things around you does work well, that's pretty much the only thing that works about these headphones and the only reason I'm not giving 1 star. It takes an act of God to get Bluetooth to connect. I use them almost exclusively on my phone because the Sony app is the only way to get them to connect 99% of the time. Unfortunately it also has problems and on the day i purchased these, was not even accessible due to a a bug that wouldn't allow it to connect to Sony servers to display the user agreement. Now, I've owned them for maybe a couple of months, barely use them due to all of the above and somehow the batteries barely hold a charge. Battery life wasn't great to begin with and has been reduced by half or more. I definitely expected more from Sony and it would be a tough sell to get me to try another one if their products in the future.

You get these knowing that they look awkward and reckon they fit as awkward as they look, and it is true. Lacks bass but that's understandable really. They give good call quality and good quality for music if you don't listen to bass heavy music.

Not really enjoying them. I have difficulty getting them to stay put and fit properly. I only use them for work and i sit constantly so its not to bad but when i get up and walk around for a few i am always adjusting. They do what they are designed to do because i can hear my coworkers and whats going on around me. It could be the shape of my ears but so far i have not found the correct wings that fit me properly. So good for sitting not good for moving around.

The buds were super comfortable, sound quality was good. The accompanied app looked as if it were from the early 2000s and made little difference. The controls on the buds themselves rarely work. The natural sound was a good idea, but some level of sound canceling would be nice. Youre still hearing everytbing you normally would which is terrible when you need these for work or any use other than passive listening. Worth buying. Not worth the price.

      Hi Thelms351,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your concern. While we're glad that you like the comfort and great audio quality, we're sorry you've been running into difficulty. These do not seal your ear entirely and include the noise canceling feature. That's because these earbuds are built to keep you tuned in to the world around you, with a comfortable open-ring design that naturally blends ambient sound with digital sound. Stay authentically connected to everyday life while listening to music, taking calls, gaming, and more, all with dynamic sound.

We appreciate your feedback regarding the controls/operation of the unit. If the headset often does not operate correctly, this may be improved by using the Sony Headphones Connect app to turn wide area tap off and switch to headset tap instead. For more on "The headset does not operate correctly or wide area tap works unintentionally", please visit this help guide link to troubleshoot the issue.

      https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000467224.html

We also recommended updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. The software update improves the general performance of the unit and includes key features, applications, and bug fixes.

Decent sound and pretty comfortable. I got them for when I'm out in the city so I can be aware of what is going on around me. Use them when I go for walks/bike rides and they are solid. Haven't run in them but they seem pretty secure. Not for everyone especially if you're trying to block out other noises, but if my description fits your needs you'll probably be happy.

Coming from a pair of Airpods 3rd Generation I was looking for a pair of true wireless headphones that didn't have rubber ear tips. ( I personally find rubber tips to be a poor and uncomfortable fit in my ears) The Sony Linkbuds were a very intriguing product because of the style and features they provided. The open back design was so unique I felt I almost had to try them. My main use for true wireless headphones is podcasts, audiobooks and phone calls while I'm on the go, I have better headphones I can use to listen to music if I wanted stellar audio quality. After purchasing these buds it took me a couple of trials to get the right fit but once I did I almost forgot I was wearing them after pausing what I was listening to. The fit is very important being as these headphones are built as "one size fits most" with the option of 5 different sizes of rubber loops to fit in your upper ear. The carrying case leaves something to be desired though. Coming from Apples premium build quality with their AirPods, the linkbuds carrying case feels a little light and flimsy in the hinge and having a latch system rather than a magnet is an odd choice in my opinion. The lid feels like it could snap off if I accidentally open the case too fast. Overall I would recommend these buds to someone who is looking for headphones to use while they are doing something else. The fact that there is absolutely no noise isolation is a caveat that sounds like it would be a con, but for my person use case this is the reason I prefer these headphones over others on the market.

After using Apple AirPods for a while, I decided to try a different brand which was the Sony AirPod wireless headphone and was pleasantly surprised because it was not uncomfortable to wear at all, and it has a lot of different settings to make it sound exactly right for the person listening to it I highly recommend it

I really wanted to like these, but they are a no go for me. Sound is so flat it reminds me of my walkman headphones that I had 20 years ago. Absolutely zero dimension to the sound, don't even bother trying the 360 reality audio trial, it does nothing. I'm genuinely astounded these came from a Sony lab. What makes it worse is the left earbud fits my ear perfectly, but for the life of me I can't get the right bud to stay in my ear correctly. Battery life could also be better, I had to listen to these at max volume because they do not get loud, 4 hour battery. Maybe second gen will be worth trying.

Hi Techopsm We regret to hear about your experience with Sony wireless open-ear earbuds. If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities. If the part of the headset where sound is output is not oriented correctly toward the ear canal, the sound quality may sound poor or the left and right sound localization may sound misaligned. Please make sure you are wearing them correctly. If the right earbud won't stay in your right ear correctly, you want to use a different size of fitting supporter. The available operating time will depend on how we use them. If we turn on or use different features such as equalizer, DSEE, Speak-to-Chat, etc., the available operating time of the battery becomes short.

Great concept and sound but I just couldn’t get them to fit my ear properly. I tried every ear wing attachment but either was a snug fit or not snug at all. The sound quality was great and I liked being able to hear the outside noise but not really hearing the outside noise if that make sense. I didn’t like that I couldn’t connect them to two different devices. I connected them to my company phone the bummer thing is my company doesn’t allow me to download the app which caused issues with the Bluetooth. If I answered the phone my iPhone would not connect with the Bluetooth earbuds I would have to toggle between phone ear piece back to the earbuds Bluetooth I ended up returning. I really wanted to make these work.

Everyone’s ears are different but to me these sound great and are comfortable. I can’t wear anything with silicone/plastic tips without being in pain within 30 minutes so it’s nice that these are available. I prefer the natural sound passthrough these offer to transparency modes offered on ANC headphones. The small charging case is also a plus. These are in my opinion underrated and I hope Sony will continue making this style of earbuds.

I had difficulty in pairing the buds with my phone. The preferred method is with the Sony app and it wouldn’t work that well with my iPhone 8+. Once paired, the left earbud kept cutting out. I tried all of the suggested fixes per the Sony website including updating the firmware. Nothing seemed to work. Also the adaptive volume feature wouldn’t work (app said it wasn’t supported ). To be fair, when the buds worked they sounded great. I just couldn’t get them to work on a consistent basis. It might be due to my older phone, I’m not sure. Anyway I ended up retuning them for a pair of Beats Fit Pro’s that play much better with my older iPhone. Too bad because I really liked the when they worked.

I was really excited about this product and, honestly, really enjoy the fit and sound quality. Unfortunately, that's only for when it works. A little more than a year in and the right earbud refuses to hold a charge for more than 5 minutes. Bought them so I could listen to music without blocking outside noise, and they do that very well. Unfortunately, while I bought them knowing they did not handle bass very well, I didn't expect them to be completely devoid of any meaningful bass at all. I am by no means an audiophile, but the sound on these earbuds is absolutely not worth the asking price. All of this is not to mention the super uncomfortable fit that I could barely withstand for ten minutes, pysically hurting my ears to wear. Really disappointed, honestly.

      Hello IHAAAAZ,

Thank you for your review. While we are glad that you like the open-ring design that naturally blends ambient sound with digital sound of our WF-L900, we are really sorry if it didn't fit you well and if its sound quality didn't live up to your expectations. This is definitely not the experience wanted you to have on our premium headphones. Let's try to isolate and fix the problem by following the troubleshooting steps below:
The WF-L900 LinkBuds comes with different sizes of fitting supporter to suit different ear shapes. For optimum fit, comfort, and to keep the LinkBuds from falling out, we always recommend following the steps on these articles:
      Wearing the headset - https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000445573.html
How to replace ear fitting supporters on the LinkBuds - https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-l900/articles/00275647
      Instructional video - https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-l900/articles/00275798

Note: M-sized fitting supporters come attached to the left and right units of the headset at the time of purchase. If you feel the size of the fitting supporters does not fit your ears, change the fitting supporters to another size that fits your ears better. The size of the left and right fitting supporters may be different.

And for the sound quality, if the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. If the part of the headset where sound is output is not oriented correctly toward the ear canal, the sound quality may sound poor or the left and right sound localization may sound misaligned. Please check that you are wearing the headset properly by in your ears and see if it resolves the problem. Additionally, the loudness as well as the sound quality of our WF-L900 will also depends on the source that you're playing and audio device that you are using. For additional troubleshooting, you may refer to the following article:

So let’s start with the pros. They are great to listen to while you work because you can still hear everyone around you clearly even on their highest volume. The battery last for 12 hours an Honestly you forget their in your ear which can be good a bad up to you but I truly don’t mind it. They don’t fall out easily because of how good the rubber holders fit into your ear. A they are a great for cleaning since they don’t go into your ear like regular head phones. Now the cons are that your ear lobe will hurt even when you do change out the rubber pieces your ear lobe is gonna have some bruising trying to get used to the feel of these type of head phones. The double tap to pause the song is cool but you realize if you yawn or cough it picks it up an you either loose the groove or it completely skips the song which can be annoying when you’re vibing. Also don’t drop the case cause it’s not sturdy enough for a fall from any height over 3 feet, you’ll drop the case and it’ll make the headphones fly every direction an you look like a goof ball trying to pick it up. Well that’s all I got hope this helps you in the future.

      Hi BigZ,

Thank you for the review. We're glad to hear that you like the battery life and fit of the headphones. This is a difficult question to answer because everyone treats their headphones differently and the longevity of the headphones will depend on how the individual cares for them. Thank you for choosing Sony and your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The unique design, sound quality, and features make this a very interesting product. I like the open-ear feature where you can listen to what you're playing and your surroundings. And the feature that stops what your listening to when you talk works great. Very good set of earphones if you don't mind not having noise-cancellation.
