Didn't cancel outside noises (even with battery installed) and I could NEVER wear these for more than 30 minutes and I needed them for most of the day wear. Very uncomfortable on top of the head and on ears. These are padded but don't fit OVER the ears completely, they sit ON your ears. I spent an extra $50 on a headset by SkullCandy that weren't sold as noise-cancelling but were much better quality (still cheaper than other noise-cancelling sets) and I can wear them all day -- and they sound great. Don't buy this product unless you only need something for short periods of time, your outside noises aren't very loud and you have to have something super foldable/collapsable.

The noise canceling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, or offices (near air-conditioning, etc.) and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. Great except for the pressure on the ears

They are pretty nice and are plenty loud for a 9 y/o. They are pretty small so they don't really cover your ears. Also the ear foam for one fell off after a few months use.

Ok for about 20 minutes

I wanted headphones I could wear at work to block out the noise, as it's a very conversational environment. The quality audio is fine and they do block the noise, but I have to take them off after about 20-30 minutes because they hurt my ears.
